The Last of Us Remastered has been patched for the PlayStation 4 Pro, meaning that it will now run in native 4K on Sony's new-gen system. The update – which weighs in at around 355.6MB – also includes support for HDR televisions, which will function on the standard PS4. This means that if you have a compatible screen, you can take advantage of the colour-improving feature right now.
Also listed in the patch notes is "improved quality of stereo audio", so this is quite a beefy update for an ageing game. Have you checked out the HDR yet? Will you be giving this title a go in native 4K resolution on your PS4 Pro? Fight back the tears all over again in the comments section below.

I will totally be playing through this again on PS4 Pro, that sounds like a fantastic update.
Got in a 2 day long debate with these igits on Nintendo Life trying to tell me the game play in this game sucked ( even though you know they've never actually played the game).
Then we get into a long ranting debate about story in there telling me how story adds nothing.
Don't mind me I'm just venting from people who have a sheltered gaming experience and judge every kind of game they've never actually played.
I shall be playing through this again for darned sure.
I'm 4K ready bring it
@JaxonH I keep telling you to stop feeding the trolls - that guys name kind of says it all - but do you listen?
I'd play thru this again if we got a full blown sequel, but as of right now just too much else to do, like play thru all 8 or so KH games in anticipation of KH3. I think that will take me 6-9 months.
@NintendoFan4Lyf
The thing is, when I used to have a more sheltered gaming experience I used to think just like them, and so I know where they're coming from and it's a place of ignorance.
@rjejr
I thought I could talk sense but people don't wanna hear it.
Whilst its not my 'favourite' Naughty Dog game and not one I am particularly 'excited' to replay - Uncharted 4 in HDR and higher resolution will be first, I will get around to replaying it at some point - I missed 1 convo anyway so I have a 'small' reason.
There are a few 'old' games I will revisit but should also have some new games I want to play - all more important to me than revisiting a game I played first on PS3...
Zzz... Linear escort mission with crafting, in which you play a man who kills the world out of grief.
Zero interest.
native 4k?..didn't everyone bleat one that ps4 pro couldn't do this and its just technical wizardry that make its seem 4k??
im confused..if it does do 4k natively then why is everyone complaining?
i'm on the fence for buying a 4k tv and pro..i have a ps4 and 1080p tv
@JaxonH I have to admit that though PlayStation is by far my preferred place to play, I wasn't blown away by The Last of us gameplay too. It's a very linear and basic cover shooter with survival and stealth elements: nothing new.
The story and its delivery are amazing and impactful, don't get me wrong, but the game per se is just good, not this brilliant masterpiece (for me).
Would love to relieve the story in 4k if I had the option, though!
PS4 Pro feels like remastering the remasters.
@JaxonH
I stopped bothering with NL's comment section months ago. Now every Switch article is 100+ comments. Feels like IGN, ugh.
@Feena
I didn't think it was "game of the generation" like some, but it was definitely the best of its genre I've ever played.
😇😇😇😇😇😇
Looking forward to replaying my old games in 4k and for the last of us to be running in Native 4k is quite the achievement. Can't belive Sony are not hyping up the Pro they need to start soon not long to go now.
@JaxonH "Got in a 2 day long debate with these igits on Nintendo Life trying to tell me the game play in this game sucked ( even though you know they've never actually played the game)."
The gameplay in parts is brilliant. Tell those Nintentarts to open their eyes. I love Nintendo games in many ways some of the classics are ageless - but credit were credit is due and TLOU is extremely immersive, just like first playing Ocarina of Time. I would put both games into the World class category.

They are wrong, Naughty dog have helped prove this point more than any other developer. Its why so many games now try to emulate their style.

This is the main problem with most game based sites on the web and why I come to Pushsquare. The writers and community here play a huge variety of games so 90% of the time the points are valid and from experience.
How many of you bought a next-gen console to play a remastered update of an already remastered three year old PS3 title. Games have gone the same way as the film industry. Why create, when theres quick cash to be made recycling old material.
@FaultyDroid What cash is there to make from a free update? To answer your question, no one is buying a Pro for The Last of Us, it's just a bonus for people who already have it. You do have a point about gaming becoming like Hollywood though.
@Orpheus79V
I should have worded that better, sorry mate. I wasnt suggesting ND were making money from the update, just from the first remaster. My issue was that an update of an already remastered game seems pointless to me. I like to see the hardware pushed to its limits, not used to spruce up or re-release old games. Id much rather see full backwards compatibility & play the original title in full nostalgic glory than pay for a remaster. Maybe thats just me.
@JaxonH It all comes down to some people not liking you for liking a thing. It's basically antihype, when something get lavished with high praise by both fans and critics, then some come out of the woodwork to put down the thing and anyone who dares to like the thing. At which point they resort to their default state which is saying it's overrated, which they lose the argument at that point anyway because saying it's "overrated" is them saying "I can't come up with any decent criticism, so it's overrated. Now stop liking the thing that I don't like".
I will play again without a doubt.
Also bringing up anything not related to Nintendo on Nintendo Life never ends well. It's the main reason I barely visit that site anymore.
It's a great site that has been ruined by fanboys.
@JaxonH "I thought I could talk sense but people don't wanna hear it."
Well some people don't. I've tried very hard over my many years on NL to always reply to people, no matter what, but over the past few months there seem to really be people who don't want to have a conversation, they only want to make fun of people and disagree w/ them. I'm fine w/ disagreeing w/ people, I always like hearing another point of view, keeps me honest, but some people don't want to listen, just speak and be rude. Seems much better over here, but of course there are usually about 325 less comments.
@unionjack3rd It's native 4K. Not all PS4 Pro games are doing native 4K, but plenty are able to it seems.
Can't wait to play through this and Left Behind again in 4K, the pair together have the best story I've ever experienced in gaming and luckily I quite liked the gameplay too. Had a quick go in HDR earlier, now my TV is far from the top end of the Samsung range (the joys of impending parenthood) and has bare bones HDR support at best but there was still a noticeable difference in lighting, with it looking very pre baked and a bit lifeless in comparison when I turned it off. Getting even more excited for Pro now
@NintendoFan4Lyf I loved the ending my younger brother got mad when Joe was acting like an ass. The first few minutes of the game destroyed my heart so sad.
Although I genuinely like this game, I thought the melee combat was pretty horrendous. Resident Evil Revelations 2 did it so much better.
Please don't kill me...
