Word is that Warner Bros Montreal has scrapped its long-in-development Suicide Squad game – despite it being in production for two years. The title – which would have seen you take control of the eponymous band of anti-heroes – was never formally announced, but was rumoured to be a co-op title. Apparently, it failed to impress upper-management.
The team, which last deployed Batman: Arkham Origins all the way back in 2013, will now apparently turn its attention back to the Dark Knight, with a new title starring Damian Wayne purportedly in the pipeline. With the Suicide Squad movie earning less than favourable reviews, this is probably the right business call – but two years of scrapped work will surely add some red pen to Warner Bros' financials.

And yet it's still better than the suicide squad movie.
well after the disappointment of the movie AND the Batman games they did it's not surprising
A Damian game would be very interesting. The whole game can be framed as a struggle between Damian's vicious tendencies and his desire to be like his father. A Batman game with a more vicious streak and difficult moral choices as you try to sculpt who Damian becomes. That could be brilliant if they do it right
I dono why no one has done it yet bet a pre Harry Potter open world Hogwarts game would be amazing if done to the same caliber as Arkham city etc. It's a gem waiting to happen.
@ShadowofSparta Why Damian ? The reason I ask is I'm a Damian !
@MinerWilly Haha he's a great character (as I'm sure you are). The run in the comics where Batman was trying to teach Damian to be less vicious was great. There's a lot of things you can do that you might not be able to with Bruce
I wish they would make a Green Lantern Game, they need some love too D:
Especially since we got two new Lanterns who are really quirky and fun.
Good.
The film was dreadful
Best thing you can do after watching suicide squad is waych fight and watch Jared Leto get annihilated by Ed norton. What was originally a very uncomfortable scene to watch mysteriously becomes cathartic and quite rewarding to watch
@DESS-M-8 or watch him getting Bateman'd in American Psycho.
Well this is what happens when they can't piggyback off the work of Rocksteady, Origins wasn't great despite all of the pieces being made for them. Speaking of the Batman games I've just picked up the Arkham collection and realised how much better Asylum is than any other information the series, this should be a lesson to developers that bigger (more) doesn't equal better.
@Xaessya While I'm not too familiar with the comics, I vote yay to a Green Lantern game. I'd definitely love to see how the other Lanterns would be implemented.
Also, if you guys don't mind me asking, what was so terrible about Arkham Origins?
Is it as bad as Batman versus Superman? I hope not because that movie was terrible.
@ShadowofSparta Thanks for reply , didn't know about that as never really been into comics. That's really cool , just thought you meant another Damian Omen thing ! Just did some googling and he sounds badass.
@DerMeister The only thing about a Green Lantern game is how to capture being that strong and variable. There's a rich universe to explore, even if you just stick to the various Corps, but being able to create any constructs could be difficult. If they could implement a way to create custom constructs, it could be awesome (although probably lead to a lot of giant green dildo constructs)
@MinerWilly He is pretty badass. Ra's and Bruce as mentors. Making Damian the focus means you get to see a different side to Bruce, the nurturing and fatherly dimension he has to learn to get to grips with. Plus you get an insight into Bruce's feelings about his father and whether he can live up to the ideal he has of his own father. It's potentially rich in the right hands
@ShadowofSparta That's probably why there hasn't been a real attempt at a Green Lantern game. I imagine being able to do the power rings justice would be hell for a dev to do. It's kinda like trying to balance Superman now that I think about it.
@Flaming_Kaiser Both of them had terrible villains and story. The only good thing about SC was Will Smith's acting and Margot Robbie's did a decent job playing Harley Quinn.
The Batman fights scenes were great in BvS but some of the things he did were very out off character. Gal Gadot was pretty good as Wonder Woman, though, to my surprise.
But unlike BvS, SC doesn't have that many plot holes.
@carlos82 Apart from the (frankly embarassing) final boss, Asylum is a masterpiece. Equal parts Batman sim, stealth-driven 3D beat-em-up, and Metroidvania. City felt like such a letdown in comparison.
What a waste of a license, the film was utterly rubbish, only for Margot Robbie's ass, it would have been a total waste of two hours. Who keeps giving Synder and Ayers money....Zero quality control....😂
I didn't see the film myself, people go on about how bad it was but the film ended up making a lot of money. In fact it did well enough for them to start making a Suicide Squad 2, how a bad film ends up doing well & then go on to start making a second film is beyond me if the film is bad that is.
