Mass Effect: Andromeda will have "over 1,200" speaking characters, according to creative director Mac Walters. When you stop to think about it, that's a lot of chatty extraterrestrials. During a recent livestream, the BioWare boss said "when you look at the dialogue options, we're basically [at] the equivalent of Mass Effect 2 and 3 put together." That's pretty impressive, we suppose.
Going into more detail with PC Gamer, producer Mike Gamble explains: "The number of characters is vaster, but the amount of stuff you and that character can talk about is also larger - especially the squad, we definitely focused in on the squad." Basically, it sounds like your buddies will have a lot more to say about your exploits - here's hoping that the wonky facial animations don't take away too much from the writing.

In other news, water wet and Activision add Microtransactions to more games.
Just kidding - I'd be interested to know the single player length as I have never played a ME game but I might be burnt out after Horizon.
I only played ME1-3 one way. My decisions in dialogue options were most often based on the decisions I thought I would actually make anyway so I probably missed out on a 'lot' of additional dialogue I could have potentially heard. I don't expect to play this and hear 'everything' possible. Of course games like this with branching options are often full of possible dialogue that most won't get to hear - certainly not on one playthrough. I just hope its 'meaningful' and not filler.
I am excited for ME:A - not as much as I was for Horizon. I certainly am not burned out on the genre as Horizon is a different game, different combat and very different style too. I know they may have similarities but its still a very different game...
I was amazed at how many voiced characters there were in Horizon when I saw the end credits. Sorry, I have that game on my mind even after finishing it.
Oh yeah, Mass Effect. Erm, I hope the writing is decent.

@Boerewors Haha, thanks!
@ShogunRok Never played a ME game, honestly. Is it primarily a shooter RPG like borderlands, only it takes itself seriously and has dialogue choices? And to what degree would I need to go through the first three for the new one to be worth it?
@Mega-Gazz Shooter RPG but this one goes a bit open world with bigger areas and all that kind of stuff. From the sounds of it you can jump into this one without having to know much about the trilogy - new story, characters, etc.
@ShogunRok thanks!
@Mega-Gazz also more cover based than borderlands but looks like you can jump around in a jet pack now
Just because they say more doesn't mean you will listen.
Just ask the wife.
Is that where the budget went? The animations on everything look funky, never mind the accusations about "borrowed" deviant art images.
@sonicmeerkat
Funky / robotic animation is a given for Bioware. Seems they cant make an RPG that doesnt involve three people following you at all times, either.
