Mass Effect: Andromeda is a shoddy game - we don't think that you can really deny that - but BioWare is at least keen to fix many of its issues. The Canadian developer has just released a full rundown of what we can expect from the title's next update, which will release this Thursday.
Mass Effect: Andromeda Patch 1.05 Notes:
- Allowing you to skip ahead when travelling between planets in the galaxy map
- Increasing the inventory limits
- Improving the appearance of eyes for humans and asari characters
- Decreasing the cost of remnant decryption keys and making them more accessible at merchants
- Improving localized voice over lip sync
- Fixing Ryder's movements when running in a zig zag pattern
- Improving matchmaking and latency in multiplayer
More detailed patch notes can be found through here.
All of these improvements sound good to us, but it doesn't stop there. The studio also states that it's working on future patches as well, which will supposedly add more options to character creation, better character appearance, and improved male romances for male Ryder.
All in all, this sounds like a promising step forward. Let's hope that everything goes well from here on out.

Enjoying the game a lot so far, but haven't played it in a few days. Was gonna get back into it tonight but will hold off now til Thursday and try and crack into some of my backlog.
Yay! Life has been in my way, so I haven't played in about a week. Now I'm inspired to play after the patch!
Sounds like a good patch. I'm glad I'm still quite early as this will benefit me.
Orrrr... Don't release the game if it needed this many patches. Sorry but if v4 of the game makes it the all round product that people wanted then don't release until you have v4 and make that your V1.
This would have been in the works for months now, not a week or so which means they know it was not ready to launch. No one would accept this on other consumer products.
Grumble grumble grumble
I wouldn't expect miracles, but it seems in a few months this game could be reasonably improved and the price will drop too, so I may check it out then.
How typical; EA interfere in biowares projects, yet when it all goes tits up, its bioware thats having to repair the damage with EA nowhere to be seen 😑
Wonder if we will get an overhaul on animations.
Thank you, bioware. Even with cryo pod upgrades the inventory was too small. Fast travel between planets is a very welcome change as well. Please don't nerf my Equalizer in MP though, I love that gun!
Yay! I'm glad they are patching it! After Persona 5 I'll gladly get Andromeda
Excellent! Considering my backlog and current financial situation, I'll get around to play this game in about 6 month. By then, it'll be a way cheaper and vastly superior experience than today.
I'm not even cynical here...quite looking forward to play this. Just glad they'll have time to patch out some of the rough spots by then.
@Rudy_Manchego The problem is developers are in a position of darned if you do darned if you dont. If they delayed the game to fix bugs and such consumers would be mad for that just as much as releasing it with bugs and stuff.
A delay could mean cancelled preorders, the game coming out among other big releases which means alot more loss of money for the company.
@Tasuki I completely understand on that side but take Horizon Zero Dawn. That had numerous delays, including one that pushed the release out from a late 2016 to early spring 2017. There were grumbles then but everyone was amazed at how polished the game was on release and anyone that got grumpy at that initial move no doubt bought it when it reviewed well. There is no way that six months ago, Bioware were not aware the game was not going to have issues. It was released to fit EA shareholders needs, not consumers.
End of the day, the game is not great from a quality perspective, sales are not as good as anticipated and Bioware are having to talk up patches to fix a wobbly game release.
@Rudy_Manchego And sadly in the world of business it's the shareholders that matter most to these companies not the consumer.
However take a game like No Man's Sky and what happened when they delayed that game. Developers were actually getting death threats.
Nice. I'm still very much enjoying the game.
Hence why I'm waiting to purchase this down the line. I'm sure there's a great game in here once all these niggles have been ironed out.
@Tasuki Like you said, darned if you do and darned if you don't. Devs get death threats if a game comes out too early and it isn't polished, or buggy, or just bad. There are some garbage people on both sides of the argument...
Andromeda definitely hurt Bioware's reputation with consumers though. What's that old saying?
Fool my once, fool me twice...
Fool me chicken soup with rice.
Great news. Will wait for the new character creation options before I jump in.
