We recently uploaded a video looking at five first-party PlayStation 4 exclusives we expect to steal the show at E3 2017, but a lot of people asked us which unannounced titles we’re anticipating as well. This proved a more challenging prospect because, when you’re talking about games that haven’t actually been revealed, where do you draw the line? This author reckons a PlayStation VR version of Jumping Flash would be the kitten’s whiskers, but there’s no real reason to believe it exists.
So we really thought about this and settled on two titles that we think have a very high probability of appearing during Sony’s press conference this year – and also have their grounding in reality. While these are educated guesses, though, don’t assume they’re guaranteed: the best way to ruin a media briefing is to assume you know exactly what’s going to be shown – only for it to be absent. Just ask Pokémon fans right now – they’ll know the feeling.
Sucker Punch’s New PS4 Project
We don’t even have a rumoured name here. Sucker Punch, in our opinion, is a lock for this year’s E3: the problem is, we haven’t got a clue what it’s been working on since inFAMOUS: First Light launched almost three years ago. Our understanding is that it’s a new intellectual property, which makes speculation practically impossible. We do know, however, that it’s been recruiting for an open world title, which makes sense given its pedigree. Common sense also suggests this will have super-duper tight controls and great traversal mechanics.
Beyond that, though, your guess is as good as ours – which is exciting because the developer could quite literally be making anything. This time last year we’d convinced ourselves it was making Spider-Man, but of course we now know that Insomniac Games is busy beavering away on that. Whatever it is, we reckon we’ll know for sure this time next week. And we can’t wait.
From Software’s New PS4 Project
Again, no name. There has been some speculation that From Software’s readying a title called Phantom Wail, which is supposedly a Souls-like game with an Aztec setting, but it’s a rumour that’s built on a weak foundation as far as we’re concerned. We do know that the developer’s been recruiting for a dark fantasy action RPG, and that it’s probably collaborating with Japan Studio again. But beyond that…
There are a lot of people who have convinced themselves Bloodborne 2 will be at Sony’s press conference this year, and the timing seems spot-on for that. The problem is that there are no real rumours to fuel the fire, and that’s a dangerous position to be in. While we’re less confident on this one than Sucker Punch, we have got a pretty strong hunch we’re going to see something new coming out of From Software at next week’s briefing. Whether it’s a sequel to the beloved abovementioned brand or something new entirely, we’re not sure – but we do reckon whatever it is, it’ll be there.
There are lots of other rumours of course: Monster Hunter, Devil May Cry… The list goes on and on. But these are the two unannounced games that we reckon have a high probability of being at Sony’s press conference. Do you agree? Which are you most hyped to see? Is there anything else you reckon is a lock for the briefing? Let us know in the comments section below.

I completely agree, these two seem like a safe bet. Fairly certain Dreams will be there, with a release window, but that's just a guess.
At this point any Sony exclusive I will take. They proved the PS4 is the only logical system to game on . But I sure do want that Monster Hunter !
Love sucker punch and I really wish they were doing a new infamous. But I will be excited for anything they show
Man, imagine sitting there, theater goes black, and you hear a voice. "We are born of the blood, made men by the blood, undone by the blood; Fear the old blood." Than the BB2 logo comes onto the screen, and the place goes crazy.
From Software needs to tap back into the mech goodness. Pilot scavenging parts for their mech, with that Souls rouge-like elements would be stellar!
sly Cooper 5
@DLB3 Whoops, yes! Thanks.
Bloodborne 2, baby
So....maybe it's just me, but I'd love a next gen warhawk/starhawk.
Or a proper Fat Princess sequel.
Even if nothing new was announced, this is PS4's lineup of exclusives over the next year/year and a half (just listing ones I think we'll get to play by the end of 2018 so I'm not putting in Knack 2 or the one I really want The Last of Us Part II)... Spider-Man, God of War, Gran Turismo Sport, the inevitable MLB The Show 18, Yakuza 6, Days Gone, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, that's on top of all the major third party multiplats... Very impressive. So even if we don't get Bloodborne 2 or something from Sucker Punch announced at E3, it still won't be super disappointing because we know there's stuff to play as the PS4 has finally hit its stride. There's also the fact Sony treats PS Experience like E3 at this point so I'm not too concerned. MS and Nintendo are the ones who need to hit it out of the park next week, and given the garbage that was the Pokemon Direct, I've completely changed my tune on what I think Nintendo's E3 is going to be like. MS is going to have one or two major announcements though.
@DarthPablo Imagining that alone gave me goosebumps. Lets hope your right
New Wolfenstein is high on my hype list. Evil Within sequel would be interesting, too.
Whatever sucker punch makes after Infamous second son and first light I'm there. Although they garnered fairly average review scores, both games blew me away. I wouldn't mind seeing a new game featuring Fetch!
Ratchet and Clank 2. Yes they have Spiderman but I believe we may see the first glimpse.
Jak and Daxter going to make come back too. UC DLC gets a PS2 PSN version of the 1st one so why not?
Oh and TIMESPLITTERS 4
My games get less likely as I write more 😂
Would anyone else rather have something completely new from From Software, rather than a Bloodborne sequel? I think a new IP with a different theme/aesthetic would get me way more hyped.
Its almost a dead cert that Sucker Punch will show their current project - what-ever that may be. Its been 3yrs since Infamous:2nd Son and whilst First Light followed soon after, that was also nearly 3yrs ago now.
I am not a fan of the Souls games at all and therefore not interested in Bloodborne or a potential sequel. I would however be interested in a 'Witcher' style, open world, gothic horror RPG in the 'Bloodborne' setting. The same artstyle and aesthetics but more Story focused with Side Quests, choice and consequence etc
@Sensechat I kinda said as much?
@kyleforrester87 Mine too - I think there will be a Wolfenstein announcement this E3.
I think I was still under the impression Sucker Punch was making Spiderman, knowing that it's Insomniac I'm now super excited for it b/c Sunset Overdrive, which I'm probably about 2/3rd thru, has turned out to be so much better than I expected, and I expected it to be good.
Forget Monster Hunter, PS4 should get a new Metroid from Retro, now that would be something.
Expecting a new Crash Bandiicoot as the new highlight at the end. Sucker Punch could do that justice.
@get2sammyb shame you've not covered Hellblade getting dated
@Rudy_Manchego I just gotta know if BJ and Anya worked out
@kyleforrester87 I know and I want to know how they are going to use the defective concrete in all the Nazi buildings to take them down (ok, that last bit sounds quite boring but I want to blow some buildings up!).
@masofdas Haven't I? https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2017/06/hellblade_gets_seriously_stressed_from_8th_august
@masofdas Like here https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2017/06/hellblade_gets_seriously_stressed_from_8th_august ?
@get2sammyb totally missed it on the site and thought you all forgotten about it
@B-I-G-DEVIL I hope they remake/remade all the mainline ratchet & clank games to ps4, and with $40 price like the first one, they should release it every 1 or 2 year
@masofdas Haha, it's all good!
Rockstar's 'Agent' resurrected.
Can't wait for Bloodborne Kart
Until Dawn sequel, Life is Stranger, and Borderlands 3
@Sensechat Well the two are referring to the two in the article? You don't think Sucker Punch will be there?
i don't think sucker punch necessarily needs to be there. the fact nothing has been shown, yet we've seen the likes of dreams, detroit, TLoU2, GoW and days gone which are all 9-18 months away at least, suggests anything they've got cooking is still a long way off.
bluepoint games are rumoured to be working on another remastered collection, though it may not necessarily be a playstation/sony property i suppose.
I wish Sucker Punch will present their new game with imminent release! I don't mind more Infamous too!
Any of Bloodborne 2, Ape Escape 4, Puppeteer 2 or PSASBR 2 would make me very happy. Alas I think only the first has a chance.
