The new episode of Telltale’s Batman is genuinely one of the best chapters it’s put out in months, but Houston we have a problem. Eagle-eyed gamers have noticed an out-of-place asset in the title: the body of an assassinated Russian ambassador. We’re not going to host the images here because, ultimately, they’re quite graphic – but you can find the visual evidence over at Eurogamer.net if you so desire. You've been warned.
We can only assume that Telltale thought it had purchased a stock image in this instance; instead it added the photograph of a murder victim. It’s not the first time a developer has been caught adding content it shouldn’t to its game – Naughty Dog mistakenly forgot to remove some Assassin’s Creed artwork from one of its Uncharted titles. But given the nature of the material in question here, we suspect the developer may have to act fast in patching out the asset.

Considering how recent that assassination was I'm quite surprised they didn't notice.
I wouldn't say it's a graphic image although it's obviously disturbing - it was all over the news papers and news websites last year. The photographer had some serious balls to take those shots, though. They look like stills from a movie set, not surprised if they were used accidentally.
@kyleforrester87 Well, yes. I just didn't want anyone to click it without knowing what they were getting into.
And that's how the second Cold War started.
@ShogunRok Telltale
...What the actual EF ?
Wowzer - when you are publishing an image of a dead body, you would think you would double check just where it has come from! I mean, don't think there is a shutterstock collection on this?
@Rudy_Manchego how would you check if you just saw an image of a guy in a suit though? Honest mistake, the photos do look very surreal.
Russia will remember this
@kyleforrester87 Well, from a design perspective, they needed an image of a body lying on the ground who looks dead, that appears to be the context of the photo. So they would have gone out and looked for image assets that matched that requirement. They would have had to find that source image in good enough quality and resolution to then crop the figure out and add it.
My point is that if you are actively looking for someone who looks dead, you might do more of a background check to see where you got the image from.
@Rudy_Manchego Yeah it should have been picked up at some point, but what I mean is if I was just handed that image with no background I could assume it wasn't real. It's not like he's a recognisable face.
Yeah, they definitely should have checked the source, if only because it may have needed crediting in order for them to legally use it.
Given how many assets there are even in games like Telltale ones, I can understand how something like this slips through — but it probably shouldn't have.
Oi ... someone at Telltale better get their résumé ready.
Lmao! This is hilarious!
First of all, how can EVERYONE in a company not know where that image is from?
Second of all, the image in the game looks freakin terrible!
Third, lmao this is hilarious xD
@kyleforrester87 Yeah see your point looking at the image again. More than likely it is just someone that nabbed it early on in dev and everyone forgot to source another one.
Name it ignorance, lack of professionalism, vile marketing. I don't know.
The fact is that our old lovely niche industry is growing and that means more crap will surely come our way...
I read the news with Pearl Jam on my headphones; I love coincidences!
