It’s taken a good couple of years, but Street Fighter V is finally becoming the game it was always supposed to be with its upcoming Arcade Edition update. In addition to the previously revealed arcade ladder modes, Capcom’s also confirmed that the title will be getting a Team Battle option, allowing multiple members of its eclectic cast to duke it out.
The feature sounds pretty fleshed out, allowing you to toggle between various customisation options, like whether you want a winner stays on format or individual rounds. You can also choose how health recovery works, and whether gauge gain carries over between battles. And yes, of course, you can play against friends or the CPU, which shouldn’t need spelling out but you never can be sure with this series these days.
Remember, if you already own Street Fighter V then you’ll get access to all of the new modes for free, so this is shaping up to be a pretty meaty update all things told. Alternatively, you’ll be able to pick up Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition on the PlayStation Store or at retail, and you’ll get immediate access to all Season 1 and Season 2 characters for your troubles.

I'm wondering if it's worth getting the Arcade Edition cos apart from Akuma I don't any of the season 2 characters and saving that fight money for season 3 or stages.
With the last few updates, this game is finally on par with most 2005 fighting games in terms of content.
Go Capcom!
@adf86 Arcade Edition is a free update. The characters are the only thing you have to buy if you already have the base game.
Earning Fight money will be different when Arcade Edition roles out I hear. You won’t be able to get them by completing characters story, survival mode, trials, and demonstrations anymore. So those who have this game already I recommend that you do those. I found Birdie, Zangief, Dhalsim vol 1 trials to be pretty easy. I think it nets you 5000 pts each I think, not sure. And watch all the character demonstrations.
@shonenjump86 Can you get it by doing Arcade mode then?
@NinjaWaddleDee I’m not sure, but I hope you can. I just know the old ways of getting fight money will change.
it's a shame it was so bare bones at release as the actual fighting was as good as anything I've played
@Neolit try to do at least all the the character stories (prologues, really) and survival on easy /normal so you can rack up the fight money ....these modes won't award it after the AE update.
@NinjaWaddleDee it's unclear. All these modes will still give you exp anyway and you get 1000 fm every time you as a player or a single character levels up.
it seems the daily missions and extra mode will be the key to fight money after the update
@Neolit yes, I'd say that. Survival on easy is also fast free FM. The general story takes a while but is like 30K. Characters demonstrations and trials are nice scraps.
@shonenjump86
Thanks for the heads up. I never finished the main story and there may be other things I am missing.
If Arcade Mode gives FM I will keep my copy. If not I may sell it and buy Arcade to get all characters as it feels cheaper than buying all passes individually.
@sinalefa no prob, I already have the characters. So I’m using FM for the stages.
Oh wow, sounds like SFV might actually be worth owning soon.
With that said, the upcoming Street Fighter collection will more than satiate my appetite in this regard.
