Here’s a bit of a surprise news snippet: Ratchet & Clank’s likeable PlayStation 4 remake is actually Insomniac’s most successful game. Community director James Stevenson revealed the tidbit in a response on the ResetEra message boards, and while he wasn’t explicit about which metric of "success" he was referring to, he certainly implied that it's the studio’s best-selling game.

We know that, at launch, it was the fastest-selling Ratchet & Clank to date. It was also given away on PlayStation Plus earlier this year, so is sure to have racked up a fair few units that way. But this is still quite surprising to us; the title was obviously very well made, but it was deployed as a kind of budget release without a massive marketing campaign behind it. Well, assuming you overlook the movie like everyone else.

Of course, it’s all but guaranteed that Spider-Man will overtake Ratchet & Clank when all’s said and done. The question is: how many months will it take for Peter Parker to leapfrog all of the Burbank-based developer’s previous efforts? We’re going to say six maximum.
