Over the last couple of months or so, during various Tekken 7 tournaments, series director Katsuhiro Harada and designer Michael Murray have been teasing the game's future. Naturally, these public appearances have sparked a lot of speculation, with many fans predicting that Tekken 7 is probably getting a second wave of downloadable content.
With the title's first season of additional stuff coming to a close with the arrival of guest character Noctis earlier in the year, it always seemed like there should be more in store for Tekken 7, especially since the game has proven to be incredibly popular on the competitive scene. And, going by a Japanese release schedule listing, it looks like a second season of content could be on the cards.
The listing states that a budget edition of Tekken 7 will soon launch in Japan, and it'll come with a discount coupon for the game's first and second season pass. Of course, the second pass hasn't even been announced yet, so the theory is that this listing has leaked Bandai Namco's plans ahead of time.
With Evo 2018 on the horizon, we would assume that an official reveal isn't far off. What would you like to see from a second wave of Tekken 7 DLC? Pray for Lei in the comments section below.

As a big fan of the series...no thanks.
Let's see a feud between Armour King and M.Bison. Doooo it.
Hey, remember that time when a season got you all the DLC forms game?

Looks like publishers and developers are taking a season pass literally. Season pass is lookinglike a year now. Not lomg before we see "Pre-order the Spring pass for only 19.99".
B/c paying $60 for a base game and $20-$30 for the rest wasn't enough, now it will cost $100-$120 to get the complete game. Marvelous.
This is at least the 3rd game I've read about to do this, DBXV2 and FFXV being the other 2. Pokken Tournament DX on the Switch, which most people assumed DX stood for "deluxe", which meant complete, also got a season pass announced after release. I don't count games like Destiny that have add-ons, they usually aren't sold as season passes, just add-ons. Splatoon 2 seems to be getting a second round of DLC after that game was supposedly done, but so far, at least, it's at no additional cost.
Really is getting expensive to be a gamer. So much DLC lately has me telling myself to not buy a game unless I only want the base game, not the complete game, b/c the complete game takes way too long to release. FFXV - single player JRPG FFXV - could take a full 2 years to be complete.
I've read a few people saying they want Kiryu from the Yakuza games as a guest character.
If that would happen, I would finally scoop the game up instead of waiting for a deep price cut like I have been for the last year.
I didn't even get the first one, honestly.
I'm all for more content, the game really needs it. But multiple season passes always boggled my mind.
This is the crap I'm talking about! The whole reason for a season pass in the first place was to give those who bought the season pass EVERYTHING that comes post release of a game! I cannot defend this and I cannot come to reason with anyone that does, this is just pure greed, period.
@Deadlyblack Yes please. I hadn't even considered how well Kiryu would suit Tekken. He would need an alternate Majima costume to really push me over the edge but I'm sold already.
@rjejr Koei Tecmo, Omega Force, and Team Ninja did the same thing with Hyrule Warriors on the WiiU.
@malbhet "Hyrule Warriors on the WiiU"
I own that game, was my favorite Zelda game before BotW, and I think we bought it alongside the first season pass, but I know we did buy the first season pass as I've played most of it, but I barely recall a 2nd season pass.
Just looked it up and I see I ignored it probably b/c it was all based on the handheld games I never played. But you are correct, it was a second season pass after the first had finished.
The whole "Games as a service" thing is really starting to wear me down.
Huh? What's all the sudden disbelief about "Seasons" in fighting games? Street Fighter V and Killer Instinct already do it, as do other games like Rainbow Six Siege. Yeah, it's an annoying practice, but nothing new.
Personally, I've always been late-to-the-party so I haven't had to bear the brunt of a $60 game with multiple $30 passes, but from that same perspective, I like how this keeps multiplayer games alive longer. For example, I was hesitant about picking up Tekken 7 since it's been out for so long, but a new season and the possibility of a discounted/bundled edition of the base game and existing DLC is a great proposition as a new player.
There's still hope for Kiryu-chan!
@smelly_jr It's not that different from releasing a whole new version of the game.
@Orpheus79V Do you mean like Guilty Gear Xrd did, where there's 3 versions of the game? I think that's much more expensive in the long run, and worst of all, the online community gets split! With the Season Pass model, you can always just get the base game for cheap / on sale and at least play with everyone else, new characters be damned.
If Lei is in it, then I will actually consider buying it
@smelly_jr My personal issue with T7's season pass was that I didn't think there was enough content to justify one. We only got a bowling mode and two guest characters.
I'm hoping this upcoming content is more meaty than before.
@DerMeister That's all you get?! Man, that thing seems like a rip-off, lol, especially for $25. Guess I'll steer clear of the Soulcalibur VI season pass too...
@smelly_jr that’s a Fighting EX Layer character avatar you have right? Have you played that game? I’m kinda interested but haven’t found any reviews for it yet.
@shonenjump86 Yeah, it is! I've had Fighting EX Layer since launch, but I haven't really played a lot of it (summer is always a bad time for gaming for me). I'm still trying to figure out my main, for example!
You can read my initial impressions here:

As I've said in the past, I've rarely played any fighting games up until a couple months ago (let alone take them seriously), so it's from that perspective. Right now I'm trying to get a hang of the combo system, and I'm sure I'll enjoy the game a lot more once I do.
@smelly_jr I read your impression, thanks. I might just hold off on that game for now.
@NYJetsfan123 Wulong is the only reason I haven't bought this game.
@smelly_jr Did not notice that Tekken sold cheap i payed €60 for it. 🤨🤔
@shonenjump86 Yeah, that game's definitely not for everyone! I'd say $30 is a good price for the "light" edition, granted the community is still going strong when that sale happens (since there's no singleplayer content).
The fact that it's multiplayer only was a tipping point for me to buy it, since I know how quickly online communities can die out...
Bring back Anna
@smelly_jr Late reply, but yeah, I agree. Fighting game fans are used to buying the same game again multiple times with updates, so season passes aren't that bad.
