In the latest of a string of Shenmue I & II promotional videos, SEGA’s roped in Ryo Hazuki’s voice actor Corey Marshall to offer some insight on the story. Yu Suzuki’s innovative adventure game is perhaps so beloved because it was one of the first games to really emphasise story-telling and cinematics – something that’s become much more common in recent years.
The video’s designed more for newcomers than veterans of the franchise, but it’s really exciting to hear Marshall’s voice again – even if his performance in the games hasn’t exactly aged well.

I must avenge my father's death but first a game of Lucky Hit.
So .... does the story wrap up at the conclusion of Shenmue 2? The fact that Shenmue 3 is being made makes me think maybe not. Will we ever find out what the significance of the dragon mirror is? Will Ryo get revenge? Or do we have to wait for Shenmue 3 to find out, which will be who knows when? No, don’t tell me. I don’t want it spoiled. But I also don’t want to start the series if it doesn’t have a conclusion.
