The Occupation is a very promising looking narrative adventure game that was due out very soon indeed -- 9th October to be exact -- but developer White Paper Games has decided to delay the political thriller. Now, the game will release 5th February 2019 on PS4.
In a short statement posted to its blog, the developer says the title needs more time to get the game up to a standard it can be proud of.
We know that right now the game is so close to being complete and ready to play, but we also know that there are some tweaks and improvements that we need to make in order for it to be something that we’re proud to release and an experience that we’re happy to hand over to you all.
We’ve spent the past 4 years living in the world of The Occupation so we see the short delay as a small sacrifice to make sure we create something that values your time.
As in most cases, it's a shame, but is probably the right call at the end of the day. We'll have to wait a little longer to get our hands on The Occupation, but hopefully the four-month delay will be worth it.

Nice watch
Ah that's a shame as I was looking forward to it, but hopefully they use the extra time effectively. Can't wait to try this next year.
Might do it some good to be fair, with the release schedule as it is and big releases both before and after the initial release date they gave.
Looks a promising game, can only commend them for looking to improve it more, rather than push it out and patch it later, as is the case these days.
Hopefully the "want to work" on it some more and a more forgiving release period will give it some success, assuming it is as good as hoped.
@get2sammyb I think if you drop it now it will get buried anyway which would be a waste anyway. 😉
@dellyrascal I have not played a game this generation without a patch it makes me so sad. 😢
The Playstation 3 was not so bad was it?
@Flaming_Kaiser i have to admit i was a 360 man back in the day, but from what I have experienced of the PS3 with friends / family and with owning one for a year and a half, it's definitely not anywhere near this level of "patching after the fact" that the ps4 has.
A delayed game is always better than a broken game.
@JoeBlogs Keep telling yourself that Tony Hawk 5 patched in a new game, Prey with a massive patch, Dishonered 2 massive patch, even some remasters are just a big patch. Got some PS1, SNES, PS2, even PS3 games which play fine out of the box. The new gen yeah no so much and yeah that is dissapointing. But i have a library of games that all work so whats your point?
