Pre-order ANTHEM and you get exclusive access to this weekend's demo... Or not, as the case may be. The so-called VIP demo was supposed to go live at 17:00 UK time today, but the servers have already crumbled.
At the time of writing, it's impossible for some to play the ANTHEM VIP demo because they simply can't connect. Many are being met with an error message that reads "We're sorry, but the EA servers reached max capacity. Please try again later."
Even the people playing on the official ANTHEM demo livestream can't connect. The poor hosts have been stalling since the broadcast started.
EA has said that it's working on getting things up and running, but let's just hope that it manages to do so sooner rather than later. This is a VIP demo, after all...
Update: EA says that the main connectivity issue has thankfully been solved. We've managed to get a few rather spotty hours in, but here's hoping that everything holds up over the weekend.

Uh oh. And the game has gone gold already. I smell a disaster brewing.
This is going to be bad, I can already tell... it was nice knowing you BioWare 😞
OH EA, they even managed to **** up a demo
I mean, that was inevitable. Hopefully they sort it out quickly.
Is it just Anthem having issues? Asking because I tried to play some Battlefield V when I couldn't get onto this beta and couldn't play that either. Online was unavailable for me. Anyone else have that problem?
Ouch! I wonder if next weeks 'open' demo will be reconsidered or delayed. Hope for them it's a quick fix.
$10 says Anthem is going to flop, this killing BioWare in the process.
Always online baby. 😁 😃 😂 🤣
How many times have we seen these things happen over the years? They’ve been hyping this game up for a while so they must of known that this would happen, you’d think that they’d make extra servers available to prevent this from happening, like make as many servers as they possibly can.
Hopefully they sort this out quick. I’ve been trying for an hour and a half to get on. I got on at one point, went through to get the first mission, but mid-mission load it booted me.
What the hell are they using for servers, repurposed 286's running Windows 3.1?
I have no interest in Anthem, but I hope that EA and BioWare get the server issues sorted out soon.
I had to wait to get in but have been playing for the last 90 minutes. The game is living up to my high expectations. The gameplay is solid
@MaccaMUFC And seeing as this is for the people who pre-ordered they should have a very accurate idea as to how many people are going to try logging in.
Rushed home for nothing.
@NintendoFan4Lyf - except they already ran a server stress test before Christmas, and had similar problems. i smell a launch farce coming on.. EA's online service is s**t even on its good days. Currently sitting at a "connecting to online services" message for about 20 minutes. others are reporting infinite loading screens within the game..
did they seriously forget what happened to Sim City?
Well I will always have Jade Empire...
I got in my suit and it crashed... So close.
It’s been running well for me the last half an hour or so. I’m enjoying what I’ve played so far.
kills every fffffffffffffffffffff EA server how much does this bunch scum bags make from all their gambling loot boxes con YET CANT KEEP SERVERS UP FOR OTHER GAMES. bunch useless ffffffffffffffffff morons.
I spoke too soon. 😔
Apparently whole EA games crashed.
The Good Fellas finally won! XD
@arnoldlayne83 fifa, nhl madden all dead but their mobile cash grab star wars game still works lol
Say what you will about Destiny, the launches were always flawless as far as I recall?
@kyleforrester87 Pretty much. I think the original betas were a bit dodgy but the games themselves all worked on launch day if I remember right?
Erm Destiny has been flawless for me the real issue is I was tempted by Anthem but seeing this now I am not sure I want to fork out the cash for a game hosted by EA servers and not being hosted by Bioware.
Lets hope Bioware pull a Bungie and split from EA!!!
On PC, 2 hours after the start of the demo window in New York timezone I was able to completely play through a mission. Haven't tried again. Hopefully they have figured things out.
I finally got to in. I liked what little bit I got to play. I look forward to the full game just hope the servers can handle it.
This doesn't bode well. Let's hope they get their act together.
I really hope this silly game tanks
E.A was good.
Now their trying to micro transaction everything
Offline single player campaign gamer here. No online nonsense.
And please Disney take the starwars license away from them.
Perhaps someone who has played can answer this. Are there any wide open environments? By which I mean something similar to Earth in Destiny 1. Al the footage I have seen seems to be set in canyons or valleys which look very claustrophobic and not particularly wide. Any wide open vistas?
It was that bad yesteday, it affected their FIFA and Battlefield servers... Thats not a good look for a company that makes money hand over fist...
Many demos have problems. This isn't EA's first rodeo. Have some faith. If the server issue gets resolved the gameplay looks awesome.
I think I was one of the lucky few who had no issues.
I have been playing the demo for hours now without any problems.
Friend gave me a demo code to try out, hilarity insued when none of us could connect to the same expedition at the same time. One time I spawned in without a head, and had no weapons or abilities. Also, for one person, the game was maxing out their CPU, using 85% of it, while myself with the same CPU, it was only using 10%.
If this game is less than a month out and they're having these types of problems, might as well say your goodbyes to Bioware now. EA has a bullet with their name on it.
Yeah, I remember playing the Destiny demo way back and it functioned fine. I just didn’t like the gameplay. Is this going to rival Fallout 76 for the biggest stumble out of the gate in recent memory? Alas, we will always have Assassin’s Creed Unity ... 🤔. Good times.
Oh, sometimes I miss the old days where the closest things to "game problems" we had was having to blow dust out of the cartridge to make it work. Monolithic 50GB always online games that have server troubles all day long are pretty much just a regular thing now aren't they? Not for all games but a notable amount of them.
EA problems, I am not surprised, anthem is going to flop and destroy Bioware reputation.
EA don't just have biowares name on a bullet , for on a artillery shell, that's how bad this is going to be for biowares , flop or flop
Is it possible their servers also require lootboxes to keep running? Maybe they didn't have the 5* VIP demo item that allowed servers to run.
How could it have been “server stress” when the demo was essentially closed except to Access subscribers and those who preordered the game? I cannot imagine the numbers for either is large. “BioWare says that there were nearly 9 million hours of play across the 2.5 days the demo was open...” Note the avoidance of stating the number of PLAYERS. There are likely technical issues that have nothing to do with server congestion, in my opinion.
