The Dreams beta finally got started a couple of weeks before the end of 2018, granting certain players the chance to begin fooling around with the game's suite of tools. Unfortunately, participants currently need to agree to an NDA, meaning they can't share their experience or their creations. While this is still enforced, Media Molecule went through some of its favourite things made in the beta test so far, and some of them are very impressive indeed.
In its latest stream, the developer explained how more people can sign up for future beta access, and it also went through some tips and tricks for those who might be struggling. The best part of the stream, though, was definitely when the team looked through some community-made levels, characters, and more.
From a level in which Big Ben is late for the New Year celebration to a fully functioning Guitar Hero-style rhythm game, the variety on show is predictably varied, and a lot of it is of a surprising level of quality. Granted, these are Media Molecule's highlights, but it just goes to show what can be achieved in a relatively short period of time. We definitely recommend watching as much of the above stream as you can to get a feel for what's possible in this game. Hopefully the full release isn't too far away.

Some of the stuff at this early stage is very cool. Exciting.
The creativity that game's like these inspire never ceases to amaze me.
No time to watch the video right now but I'm beyond psyched for this.
Man im so excited for this. I will let everyone know when my spiritual successor to Chrono Trigger is wrapped up and ready to playπ I didn't sign up for Beta because i asked my wife for 2 SOLID, uninterrupted weeks to get something started when it officially drops. Then back to evenings after 8 and during my sons naps. So im thinking mid 2025ish completion lol
I'm very eager to get my hands on this.
Im sad to see i will never achieve this im kinda jealous how good some people are. π
The potential is clear to see, but I'm just never going to have enough time to do this game justice, which unfortunately means I'm almost certainly not going to pick it up. Really hope it does well though.
@Enuo The improper use of apostrophes never ceases to amaze me, either. π
Some impressive projects shown there, really looking forward to this one. Very likely to be my most played game of the year.
i'm not remotely artistic.. but i'm expecting other people to make some really cool stuff. LBP2 had some really great UGC, and this looks sooo much more advanced in terms of toolset and potential. i must have played at least 30-40 hours worth of user content on LBP2, if i get anything like that on dreams, i'll be more than happy.
@SegaBlueSky, even if I never make something I'll be happy with community stuff & the three games that Dreams is already.
How the hell this is going to have any kind of cohesive story is beyond me, but this game looks incredible. I suck at the creation aspect, but I will definitely be getting this to support MM. The industry needs more creativity like these guys offer.
