Ah, the Bloody Palace. How many hours we sank into you back in the days of Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition. Once again asking players to hack and slash their way through hordes of enemies, the Bloody Palace is soon set to return in Devil May Cry 5 as a totally free update.
The official press release reads: "Bloody Palace is a survival mode that pits you against hordes of increasingly difficult enemies and bosses whilst racing against the ticking timer. Play as Dante, Nero or V in Bloody Palace Mode through multiple levels of enemies and truly test your SSStylish skills." Exactly what we were expecting, then.
But that may not be the whole story. Earlier this month, there were rumours that the Bloody Palace will allow for full online multiplayer functionality and perhaps an additional playable character, but Capcom's said nothing on either of those topics. We'll just have to wait and see what's included.
Fortunately, we won't be kept in the dark for very long, as the update's due to arrive on the 1st April. Will you be putting your combo skills to the test? Try not to get blood all over the comments section below.

Capcom’s post launch support is fantastic lately. Tons of content both for Devil May Cry 5 and Resident Evil 2.
Noooooo! No timer. At least let me tune it off. Timers ruined DMC4’s bloody palace, sucking all life and joy out of it. And this should’ve been in the game from the beginning frankly. It’s an incomplete game as stands. And should be criticized as such.
Sweet! Another reason to keep playing my favorite game of the year (so far).
I'll probably have traded the game in by then. Really wished I redboxed it.
Nice. Timer on Bloody Palace sucks, but the mode is still great fun. Glad it's free too.
Good to see they didn't take the scumbag route of selling it, (looking at you THQ). I'll get to it once I've finished all my BP runs on DMC4 SE and my S rank runs of DMC5.
@Jaz007 curious as to why you would describe it as incomplete? I've easily already got around 30 hours out of it, and feel happy with that. Bloody palace is a bonus.
@Wraggadam Bloody palace is a hallmark of the series. It’s expected and Capcom wouldn’t have gotten away with saying there’s no bloody palace mode. Any DMC is expected to have bloody palace and because it didn’t launch with an expected and needed feature, it’s not complete. And as I underatand there are only two difficulties? If so, not having the rest of them also makes it incomplete. I could be wrong there though.
@Jaz007 there are two difficulties originally, but as in other DMC games, the harder difficulties are there and unlockable.
I wouldn't describe bloody palace as needed, bit it's certainly a nice bonus, and having it as a free dlc not long after launch, once people have got a handle on new mechanics etc. is a good way to keep DMC V in the public eye, plus keep players returning.
I'd be inclined to agree with you if it was paid for dlc, but since it's free, I wouldn't consider marking the game down or describing it as incomplete in the slightest.
