February was something of a mixed month on PlayStation 4. It saw quite a few new releases, but not all of them were especially well received. Still, we've done our best to narrow down February's top four titles, even if we did have to lower the review score bar for entry.
Bronze Trophy: Steins;Gate Elite
An amazingly well crafted visual novel, Steins;Gate Elite earned an impressive score of 9/10 from reviewer Jenny Jones, who called it "the complete visual novel package". An enhanced remaster of an already superb game, Elite brings a significant visual overhaul to the table, utilising scenes from the Steins;Gate anime series. "It’s surprising just what an impact the new animations have in Steins;Gate Elite -- the additions take an already excellent visual novel and makes it feel much more dynamic and intense," Jenny wrote.

Silver Trophy: Dirt Rally 2.0
A game that had associate editor Stephen Tailby desperate to go out and break Guernsey's speed limit, Dirt Rally 2.0 is one heck of a rush. "Following on from its predecessor, DiRT Rally 2.0 is the pinnacle of rally on PlayStation 4," Stephen concluded. "Even if the sim label puts you off, we'd encourage you to take this for a test drive; it's easily one of the most thrilling racing games in recent years." A big old 9/10 for this mud-covered beast.

Gold Trophy: Metro: Exodus
Senior staff writer Liam Croft wasn't overly keen on Metro: Exodus, awarding it a 'not bad' score of 6/10, but the rest of the Push Square team clearly think that there's a bit more to this post-apocalyptic excursion. The third title in the Metro series, Exodus goes a little off the rails by placing you in a number of more open, less linear environments. There's a lot of impressive detail to be found here, and there are some harrowing plot points scattered throughout.

Platinum Trophy: Apex Legends
Before you say anything, no, we don't have a scored review of Apex Legends, but that certainly didn't stop our team from voting it the best PS4 game of February by some distance. Respawn Entertainment's free-to-play, team-based battle royale shooter has taken the world by storm over the last few weeks, and the hype doesn't look like it'll be slowing down any time soon.
Apex Legends brings a load of neat touches and innovations to the genre, with the ping system in particular making us wish that just about every multiplayer game had something like it. Tight shooting and cool movement round off this surprise package, making Apex Legends a worthy Game of the Month.

What was your PS4 Game of the Month for February 2019? Vote for your favourite in our poll, and then let your voice be heard in the comments section below.
How we decide our Game of the Month: At the end of each month, the editorial team put together a list of nominees. Nominees must have been released within the month, and preferably, they should have been reviewed by Push Square. We select nominees based on our own review scores.
The editorial team then presents this list of nominees to the rest of the Push Square staff. Staff are asked to vote for three games that they think deserve to be crowned Game of the Month. First choice gets 3 points, second choice gets 2 points, and third choice gets 1 point. When voting closes, we tally the results to determine the order of this article. The game with the most points is our Game of the Month.

Congrats to Apex Legends! What a crazy success story!
I can't vote for a game, that whilst 'free' is so one dimensional, just a 1 trick pony, a game that has jumped on the bandwagon of Battle Royale games. Granted it may well be one of the better ones...
I have to vote Metro Exodus, a game with a Story and much more varied and deeper game-play. Its better all-round in my opinion. Of course I respect the opinion(s) of Push Square who, for their own valid reasons decided to put Apex above Metro...
Well deserved trophy for Apex, good stuff.
Apex Legends deserves the high praise, it's a very well made game indeed.
Not much interest in February’s outings for me. I’m grateful for the time to catch up on the backlog though. Metro may be something to consider down the road after I play the earlier games in the series
There was only one right answer for the Platinum, and you lot chose correctly.
Apex legends is good but I’m crap at it, and Dirt rally 2 is also good but I haven’t played it enough to vote for it. So for me it’s between Far Cry New Dawn (which I’m enjoying a lot more than I expected to) and Trials Rising. Needless to say, I voted “other”.
Monster Energy Supercross 2 or Dirt Rally 2. I can't choose between them, they each offer a completely different kind of experience. They both have great parts, and some not-so-great parts.
the only two games i tried were apex and anthem, and don't rate either of them, so wouldn't give either a vote. i haven't actually bought a game since detroit become human, it's been that long since anything that's looked appealing to me.
As it turned out, I was very exceptional at Apex, but I found myself slowly creeping back to Fortnite, a game where I am mediocre at best. No games stood out this month. I will probably attempt to download and play The Witness. You all made it very appealing...
Totally had to vote for metro, one of my favourite game series from the recent years
I was going to vote for other. But then I realised I haven’t played any games released in February. I went straight from Tales of Vesperia into Kingdom Hearts three. So I didn’t buy any new games at all that month. I probably won’t be going back to any of them either as we’ve had a couple of more appealing games already in March.
I don't have any interest in any of those games. I guess Anthem wins by default for me. I'm still really enjoying the game's combat despite its flaws.
