Days Gone's 1.06 patch has just been made available on PS4, with the simple note of "Bug fixes". However, it may have done more harm than good as multiple users on Reddit are reporting multiple system crashes after downloading the update.
While it doesn't seem to be affecting everyone, a handful of players have reported hard crashes on the PS4 Pro. Some say it's always in the same place in the game, while others have said they haven't even made it to the main menu after the patch. We haven't experienced any issues just yet after downloading the update, but it's clear that some unfortunate users may suffer with these problems.
Have you experienced any of these issues? Copy the patch in the comments below.

Well done, BEND, well done!
Did they get Bioware to update this game? Or was it a partnership with Bethesda?
Yikes.... I think this game needed another few months in the oven. Had a glitch yesterday that prevented me from acquiring melee weapons until I restarted the game.
Patch 1.06: Game gone
I’ve not had a single issue with the game about 15 hours in
@jly1987 same here, I've played for an hour or so after this patch and its run flawlessly
@carlos82 since the new patch I’ve played about 10 minutes. Long enough to grind the drift trophy. Hoping to get more time in tomorrow. I’ve been pulling 60 hour work weeks
@RBMango but then people would have moaned that it's taking forever already, they can't win either way.
I'm about 10-15 hours in. I downloaded 1.06 this morning and played for a couple of hours with no issues so far. Just lucky so far I think. I did have one issue before 1.06 when the all the sound less the dialogue cut out. I had to restart my ps4 pro to get it working properly again. But as I said, that was before 1.06.
@AdamNovice Let them whine. I'd like to spend $60 on a polished game instead of a buggy one. I can wait.
@AdamNovice they already had 7 years to work on the game. if it wasn't functioning properly after all that time, it is due to incompetence on the part of the developers. this game was destined to be buggy no matter how long it was in the oven. also, a possible reason for this is that they chose to use unreal engine rather than a proprietary sony engine which would have given bend a lot more internal support should they have required it. no idea why they went with unreal... it is the first time i have ever seen sony use a 3rd party engine... just why?
have played 40+ hours with rarely a bug played,4-5 hours after 1.06 now hard crashing ever 1-2 mins after loading in (ontop of a truck right in the middle of a giant hoard)
Seriously, sony should delay the game one or two month rather than this “release it and patch it later” mentality, this is a big new ip for sony and bend, they shouldn’t rush it.
My ps4 pro crashed for 6 times in one hour while playing this game today and this game shutted my ps4 pro off like i thought it gonna brick my ps4 pro that gave me heart attack
@porco 7 year development is false, it's more the 5 years at most. They released Uncharted on Vita and were planning a sequel but Naughty Dog were worried about the franchise been oversaturated. Then an Infamous Vita game was discussed but by that time Sony needed everyone on PS4.
But it meant Bend had to ditch their Vita engine for a new one so they were starting from scratch anyway. So all that meant in all likelihood Days Gone didn't start any kind of full production till late 2014.
As for using Unreal Engine 4 well they didn't have too many options, making there own would have took way too long and too costly, GG's Decima probably wasn't ready yet and Sony's other studios don't use engines that make open world RPG like games.
@wiiware They didn't rush it though, the game was probably meant to come out late last year, then February, then April so Sony did give Bend time but eventually a product HAS to come out. Plus open world games are some of the hardest to QA, even more so when it's a studios first attempt.
“it is the first time i have ever seen sony use a 3rd party engine... just why?”
I think it was a deliberate move on BEND’s part to encourage gamers to ask existential questions like this one. Why do developers choose to use the Unreal Engine? Is what we perceive reality, or just a construct of our minds? Do you think a parallel universe exists? How do you know you are not dreaming right now?
@AdamNovice the last project bend is credited with is: uncharted fight for fortune in december 2012. there is nothing after that. one could assume that they experimented and pitched new projects beginning in 2013 and likely started pre-production on days gone soon thereafter. ok, so 6 years and not 7? really not a big difference. that is still a heck of a long time for a game that turned out the way it did (half baked). as for the decima engine... horizon was in development since 2011 believe it not... the engine was most certainly in a good state by 2013 — around the same time days gone was heading into development. i still do not see any reason as to why they went with unreal other than it was easier to work with in some regard. to be fair, sony 1st party studios did not have any experience with open world games up until horizon, so this was a learning experience for bend studio. i will cut them a break on some of the technical issues that have been plaguing the game because of this...
It's just done it to my pro wouldn't come on for around 10mins
Make that twice just started up the game again and crashed at the exact same spot 😭😭😭😭😭
@Batsy87 7 times for me
No crashes updated 1.06 played 30 mins all ok... it is buggy as hell though. Nevertheless I’m enjoying it a lot...
sorry for my language but thanks a lot Bend i thought my PS4 was done so i went out and bought a new ps4 but only finding out that its the damn version 1.06 thats causing my ps4 to crash and shutdown now i have two ps4's
My ps4 keeps crashing now ive been playing since the early release on thursday night basically 4 to 5 hours a day and im now to a point where im colonel garretts and i take over this camp on top a gas station and everytime i do it crashes the ps4? Did anyone else have this issue and is it gonna quit soon cause i was in the middle of something lol
@stuzster i didnt check any other games from what I experienced from my very first FAT PS4 when it would abruptly shutdown when playing games I figured that my PS4 slim was going the same way so i went out and bought a new console now i know it was the update file i have two PS4’s
@EamonFearon You knew that that kinda of language is not allowed here yet you still used it, and no apologizing does not make it right.
Next time will earn you a vacation from the site.
I don't know what the fuss is about. I noticed the game was slower to load and that's it. Works fine.
Edit
Maybe it depends on how much space on the HD? I have plenty.
@Porco Couldn’t agree more. No idea why they chose unreal considering it’s a PlayStation exclusive. Unreal engine games look pretty enough but prove to be difficult for even consoles to perform at a full 1080p.
7 years of development huh. Wowza. I’m surprised how buggy this game was before all the patches. Not sure why it was in such a state even after all that time it had in the oven.
I had a quick go just now after not playing since Monday and after hearing of these problems I thought I would pause and cancel the update for the moment but nothing was downloading. I checked the game version and it said 1.05. Have they pulled the update?
Installed it yesterday and was a little concerned after reading this article, but played for a good few hours last night and had no issues.
1.07 is just downloading already.
No crashes for me so far. Really enjoying .
