There's a lot of information to soak in from this PlayStation 5 article from Wired, but something tucked away near the end has grabbed our attention. Whether Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding will appear on PS5 as well as PS4 has been up for debate for a while now, and although nothing has been confirmed, the report seems to imply the game will be released for both machines.
Towards the end of the report, the subject of cross-generation releases is brought up, where Death Stranding is touched upon. "As in many other generational transitions, this will be a gentle one, with numerous new games being released for both PS4 and the next-gen console," reads the article. "(Where exactly Hideo Kojima’s forthcoming title Death Stranding fits in that process is still unconfirmed. When asked, a spokesperson in the room repeated that the game would be released for PS4, but Cerny’s smile and pregnant pause invites speculation that it will in fact be a two-platform release.)"
Is this a hint that the title is being developed for both PS4 and PS5? It's still a long shot, but it's now looking a little more likely.

starting to think that ghost of tushima will also be cross gen.
TLOU 2 will most likley get a remastered ps5 version.
I think this has been nailed on for a while. It'll be the same with Ghost of Tsushima and The Last of Us: Part II.
Could Death Stranding have an update similar to the Pro improvement on PS5?
It seems unlikely since there is money to be made with people who would double dip, but they seem to be insisting a lot on backward compatibility, so it would be a good way to promote the PS5 while still selling games that came out late on PS4.
@shogunRok I hope not because if their relying on those to sell PS5 then the PS5 only exclusives are probably further away then we would have hoped.
@AdamNovice still thinking that horizon zero dawn 2 will be released not far from the ps5 launch.
maybe around the time of when infamous second sun released compared to the ps4 launch.
@ShogunRok I suspect several more will do the same such as Cyberpunk, me I'll be getting them on PS5 anyway and a bit of God of War hopefully with some enhancements
I have a question. If the ps5 will have full backwards compatibility, how is it that death stranding will have a ps4 and a ps5 version? Will the ps4 version not work on ps5?
I'm sure it's likely, if only because we still don't have a release window for it.
If not, you can just play the PS4 copy on PS5.
@Ludens92 I was wondering about this as well. I mean if the system is already backwards compatible then what's the point of even having cross gen titles.
Death Stranding in 8K.
You know, for the extremely rich.
