When Persona 5 Royal's Japanese release date (31st October, 2019) was revealed, developer Atlus was quick to confirm that the game would launch in the West in 2020. However, a specific release window was never nailed down, leading to a lot of fans wondering whether they'd be waiting a long time for Royal to arrive overseas. After all, when it comes to timeliness, Atlus' localisation track record is rough to say the least.
Fortunately, it's looking like the West won't have to wait quite as long as many had feared. During an Atlus art showcase in Los Angeles, as reported by GameSpot, a brief trailer has confirmed that Persona 5 Royal will launch at some point in Spring 2020. That's not too bad, right?
Of course, this does mean that Royal could potentially clash with a number of other incredibly high profile titles coming in Spring 2020. Both Final Fantasy VII Remake (3rd March) and Cyberpunk 2077 (16th April) currently cast a large shadow over the season -- and they're just at the forefront of the onslaught.

Doesn't matter when it's coming out, honestly. Whenever it does, I'm getting whatever the biggest special edition they have is.
I HAVE NO TIME OR MONEY BUT I HAVE TO FIND SOME SOMEWHERE
My wallet's gonna be crying come spring.
I thought we knew this honestly, I assumed this already.
But I’m still not sure about getting it and restarting that social stats. I don’t want to have to use a new game plus here to see everything.
Honestly, at least it’s not the summer. I at least have some disposable income in the spring and can just eat 20p noodles to fund this, FF7R and Cyberpunk.
I was assuming (or hoping) this would be the case, but still good to have some confirmation. Japanese titles can take a while to localize, even in the case of an updated release.
Of course, never forget the P4 Arena UK release fiasco.
I’ve just started P5. I got to the first palace throne room today. What’s the difference between this and what I’m playing?
That's sooner than I was expecting. I'll get it eventually, but I'm tempted to give P3P and P4G a try before this.
Oooof. I have a baby coming in January, and already have FF7R and Cyberpunk on preorder. Unless there is a compelling launch price or an epic special edition i might have to bide my time on this one. Not enough money or time for so many RPGs
Bearing in mind that TLOU2 is very likely to be here by May aswell. Spring is looking very busy
Persona 5 comes first and second, everything else is fourteen and twenty 🙂
This spring is loaded with heavy hitters.
We don’t have spring here 😕
@lacerz What you’re playing is a straight port of the PS3 version. This is an expanded re-release.
March cannot get here soon enough.
Didn't care for the idea of this rerelease at first but after I heard the new battle theme I'm pretty hyped for this, never was a fan of the OG battle theme at all (To the point where I was forced to buy a DLC outfit that replaced it).
Forget Cyberpunk2077, FF7Remake & TLOU:P2.
This is will be the real GOTY.
@Ryall Are you saying Royal is gonna have actual PS4 textures? If so then there should at least be a free texture pack update. Atlus need to catch some flak, they keep getting away with stuff(guess because it's a niche title), like charging for simple outfits. If R* were to charge for the gazillion detailed clothing in their games...outrage!
@TheArt Rockstar is a company that gets way too much slack. So please dont act like they are so special. 😆
@Flaming_Kaiser R* are full of saints and angels 😆 in comparison to the outrageous prices games like P5 or SFV sell for common outfits/skins, it's a shame! R* could have easily charged for every piece of fantastic DLC released for GTAO or RDO. And what slack do you speak of? You're trolling bro.
@TheArt Yeah a steal Red Dead Online - 350 Gold Bars €99. GTAV Whale Shark cashcard €38 fitting name too, Megalodon Shark-cashcard €64 on discount quite a steal. Yeah a 100 hour game with updates for €40 is quite expensive. 😆
@Flaming_Kaiser Oh c'mon don't even start to compare the sheer number of content available in RDR2/GTAV(all without spending a dime on Gold bars/Shark cards) to Persona 5.
My backlog of games is so huge that in good conscience I can't really throw money at this but I do feel like all those games can just wait so
