After teasing yesterday that it would drop a new trailer for Nioh 2, Sony has delivered with an all-new look at the game -- this time placing a large emphasis on its story. The title is a prequel to the 2017 original so no prior knowledge is required for those interested in checking out the experience launching March 2020. Take a look at the trailer above for more context.
The two minutes of footage debuts lots of new characters along with Spirit Guardians to boot. Here's a quick summary from the PlayStation Blog detailing what to expect:
It is the Warring States period in Japan. The year is 1555. Never-ending warfare has transformed the nation into a land of chaos infested by demonic yokai, evil spirits who feed upon their victims. It is in this setting of relentless mayhem that we meet our protagonist, a rogue mercenary hunting down yokai in the Mino Province. This demon hunter hides a terrible secret: they are a half-breed, the orphan offspring of both human and yokai blood. Unable to find a place amongst mankind, our demon hunter journeys alone.

I keep forgetting this is coming. Hoping to play it before the year is out
Can one game, just one game, realise that March and April are crowded and maybe launch in the summer.
freed from this mortal coil..
It looks like they run out of budget when it came to lip synching. It seems interesting, though
@markkoo Doesn't seem like they did a sync for the english dub. If you watch the japanese trailer it's spot-on.
Been replaying the first one, i didnt remember the first boss being so hard. That thing owned me about 5 times before i beat it.
.. on my 3rd install of this game (I remember buying it and taking it back because it was 'unfair'!!!) xD I literally just finished it last night... thoroughly enjoyed it actually, despite getting 2/3 through twice before!
.. doesn't look quite the progression I was hoping for story-wise... it'll be a while before I pick it up (the inevitable sale) - after Sekiro - the lack of verticality really hurts all other 'Souls' games... nothing compares to Sekiro... made me scream with frustration until I learned how to parry / deflect...
What’s with the terrible voice acting? Really hope you can select jap language with subtitles as that voice acting is terrible
