It wasn’t that long ago that Sony was celebrating the PlayStation 4’s success as the second best-selling home console of all-time, but the holiday season has been kind to the hardware, and it’s now reached a sales milestone of 106 million units. The statistic was confirmed by group president Jim Ryan during the organisation’s CES 2020 media briefing.
The firm also confirmed that an astonishing 1.15 billion games have been sold, both at retail and digitally through the PlayStation Store. And all of this success has culminated in a monthly active userbase of 103 million players, making PlayStation Network the largest gaming platform in the world.

More than steam? Damn!
@Arugula Beat me to it lol
So PS4 sold about 4 million units over the last couple of months despite Switch dominance and Xbox's aggressive pricing.
Wow... so they beating Steam. That is crazy.
Also, 1.15 Billion games sold is just amazing (and they not done yet). This is why 3rd party publishers just stick with PlayStation.
@Arugula when i factor in that my ps4 library has over 200 lol. But around 100 are downloaded ps plus games. But that basically equates to i buy CoD, Madden, FiFA or NBA2k...or 2 every other year...doesnt sound as awesome that way...
@Nyne11Tyme Give me 0,1% of the money and i probably wont have too work for a long time.
Congrats Sony, well done. Cracking machine and cracking games.
Consoles are dead.
@AllenSnyder @Agramonte Last report put Steam at 90 million monthly active users.
This... is actually really impressive!
PS4 will have lots of hidden gems by the time it actually stops getting games 100%. Not sure what year that may be. Maybe 2025
@AllenSnyder And Steam is free. I have an account but don't use it.
