One response! Just one person replied to this week’s WAYP – the muppet who pens it every week. Alas, these comments sections have been huge in lockdown, so please make up for the lack of staff input below. It’s appreciated!

I’m more than halfway through Assassin’s Creed Odyssey’s main story, although I’m told there’s a ton more grinding to hit the “true” ending – and frankly I’m just getting exhausted with all the gating this game is chucking my way. I’ll finish it, but I might need a break this weekend, so I’m planning to play a couple of titles for review – and maybe start something new.
What are you playing this weekend, then? What has been keeping you occupied in lockdown? Share your full gaming itinerary in the comments section below.

I started Resident Evil 2 Remake yesterday with some trepidation as i was not a fan of the franchise. However, i was pleasantly surprised with how it went so will definitely play more. Otherwise it is the usual GTA Online over weekend with continuation of Doomsday Heist. I also seem to have gone off FF7 Remake for some reason.
I'm hoping to play Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 4. Fingers crossed!
Will probably have to settle for FF7 though.
My main gaming activities this weekend will be continuing with my 'Deadly Obsession' run of Shadow of the TR. And when that annoys me by making reply half an hour when I die, I'll carry on saving the planet in X-Com 2.
Also just got Disney + so I'm going to indulge in The Mandalorian.
Happy and safe gaming fellow pusher of squares.
Minecraft: Story Mode (Windows Store) - Finally going to start on Episode 2.
Fallout 3 (Games For WIndows) - Still not really doing much and having a blast.
Monster Burner (Windows Phone) - I'm still not sure if I like it or not, hoping it grows on me.
@get2sammyb atleast you responded to your own question 😜
Still Playing animal crossing new horizons. But was thinking about buying slime rancher on ps4.
No one replied? You mean those are real people on your staff, and not different characters and personalities you made up??
Er, well...I’m practicing my Mortal Kombat 11 skills for competition at EVO 2020, since it seems anyone can enter from the comfort of their own home! And I’m grinding out the battle pass in Modern Warfare so I can get those tier 90 Mara skins before time runs out. Me-YOW!
Uncharted 2 and Uncharted 4 Survival Mode
I'm going for my Modern Warfare platinum (not much left) then I'm going to crack on with back log, probably the final season of TWD before I give that Huntdown a look!
WD2. just passing time untill TLOU2 drops.
Yakuza 3 free roam and Killzone Shadow Fall multiplayer.
Super Metroid for the Snes on my PSC with Retroarch
Risk of Rain 2 and picking the huntress!
Still playing ff7 remake, last save point before the "fall of the pillar" chapter, the game taking serious turn compared to mostly light hearted fun story on previous chapter.
On pc playing mostly indie games like street of rage 4, river city girls, and now huntdown. I want to play it on ps4 but steam is about 3x cheaper and I want to save my money for tlou 2, ghost of tsushima, and the big gun, playstation 5
Odyssey is a huge game, everyone know that. Maybe if you have a problem with such games then it's not meant for you.
Ironically I'm trying to wrap up a few things in Odyssey, some mercenaries to butcher and I have unfinished business with a number of mythological monsters!
Also Days Gone. It's becoming quite challenging, pushing me to do things I may not actually want to do!
I'm hoping to finish Final Fantasy 7 Remake this weekend.
Fallout 76 for me! Should hit level 100 this weekend with the double XP therefor earning me the platinum trophy! 😄
Bard's tale IV. hand of Fate 2, World of warcraft
I'm still knee-deep in alien guts with X-COM 2 this weekend. Constantly saying "Now that's what I call a close encounter" to no one. (Casually lights cigar under smoke alarm)
Playing Dragon Quest 11 on my new TV and maybe some uncharted lost legacy on the side. Stay safe everyone x
Still making my way through the excellent Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch Remastered 🙂
I'm still playing BioWare's last great game, Dragon Age Inquisition. I've just finished The Descent add-on which wasn't the best to play but, as always, the lore about the dwarven deeproads was superb. It also had David Hayter voicing a dwarf and all I heard was Snake. The real Snake.
Playing Subnautica, spending most of my time just looking at the world around me, right here on the ocean floor. Such wonderful things surround me, what more is I lookin' for?
For me it is Deracine on PSVR if I get a chance, maybe some more Metro First Light and I have some Lara Croft go on the Vita!
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door and Animal Crossing: New Horizons (which I've played nearly every day since launch)
I'm in a Star Trek mood right now after that announcement of a new series so abit of STO and some Elite Force on the old PS2
I'll be carrying on with Persona 5 Dancing all Night and Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair. Also want to go back to Splatoon 2 and get started on the octoling expansion.
I am going for the plat in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. I have some clean up on Zoffo, Kashyyyk & Dathomir yet and I'm done. Really fun game and will be plat #7 this year. I'm glad EA is making this a franchise and Cal is awesome protagonist. Also so Plants vs Zombies Battle for Neighborville like every day and continuing clean up on Lego DC Villains
Working on my shadow of the colossus platinum, just finished all the time attacks and got my gold. Now have to max out health and stamina which is going to take a while 😬
I'm still continuing my playthrough of Persona 5 Royal. Just got to the Futaba chapter.
I also started another playthrough of the first Phoenix Wright, and I'm currently on the samurai case.
And I play Animal Crossing: New Horizons a little bit every day, so there's that too.
I feel for you Sammy. I gave up on Odyssey after about 15 hours.
I'm about to finish Days Gone and while I love this game I have to admit I hate being forced to fight the hordes. To me, it's more of a nuisance than fun.
Time permitting I'm going to play NBA Live 19, which is way better than 2K20 in my opinion. Thanks 2K for that promo. Otherwise I would kick myself for paying the regular price.
Been in the mood for some SNK fighting games as of late. So it will be Samurai Shodown and King of Fighters 14 on PS4. I might try to throw in Control as well.
Ni No Kuni remastered today and hooking up with a couple of friends for a Diablo 3 binge tonight and tomorrow.
just started ME: Andromeda...so far it's not as bad as many reviews have mentioned
@gollumb82 Hordes - I'm at that stage now but I guess it's only so long you can avoid them plus it is a major selling point of the game. It took me an hour plus to take out one particular horde, I ended up trapped inside a building and had to take them out almost one at a time!
Nice feeling when I eventually did it though.
Fully addicted to Death Stranding. Took a while to grab me (first time I played I even turned it off out of annoyance with it) but the claws are now in deeper than anything I've played all year.
Lego Batman 3 and Axiom Verge on ps4.
I brought my PS3 out of retirement because I decided I'm finally going to play the rest if the Ratchet and Clank series. I'm a good chunk of the way into Tools of Destruction and its fantastic.
I finished the fantastic Final Fantasy Remake a few days ago so I started on Lego DC Villains which is fun but I really prefer the days when it was non voiced..a lot funnier.
Finished Moving Out and got all the gold in every level..Absolutely brilliant game!
On Switch I'm playing Blades,Animal Crossing,Stardew Valley and Ringfit Adventure.
I'm about 2/3 through my TLOU PS3 replay. Really enjoying it again. Decided to play on hard for now and it's been just about the right level of difficulty so far, haven't really got stuck anywhere so the pace of the story has been nice.
One of the things that strikes me the most is just how bad the AI is and I'm hoping they've really improved it for Part 2. Companions run around all over the place and enemy AI isn't much smarter either.
It's a complaint I have in many games really. I hope next gen steps this up another level as it really frustrates me.
@Col_McCafferty I like Odyssey a lot, just need a break I think.
Prey.for honor and dragon 👑 crown pro.word ☝ up son
I’m really enjoying Dragon Quest XI after picking it up a few weeks ago, especially since I realised the “follow orders” tactic gives you complete control in battles 🤦🏻 The game is gorgeous too! Also playing Animal Crossing New Horizons. My island looks so much better now I have completely de-weeded it. Still playing SnowRunner, and maybe some Red Dead Online.
At the risk of sounding blasphemous, I am playing through one of my all times favourites that isn't on PlayStation sadly: Alan Wake.
@get2sammyb Oh I get that, I started it back in early October and still haven't finished it!
I started Days Gone in early Jan and only now do I feel like the end may be in sight.
Persona 5 on the other hand I started in mid March and helped both by the lockdown and it also being an absolutely brilliant game, I finished it a few weeks ago. I'm aiming to finish both Days Gone and Odyssey before TLOU 2 is released but we shall see!
Ys VIII...and its amazing.
Streets of Rage 4
Borderlands 3
Final Fantasy VII Remake
Happy gaming all
Fallout 76 which I bought in the latest sale. There, I said it. And it's not as bad as people make out (ya know, the ones that haven't played it) it's basically Fallout 4 in a new skin with added online elements - dungeons etc and I'm enjoying it. I wouldn't have bought it if I hadn't heard that's it's improved since the Wastelanders update
Also playing Darksiders 3 from PS Plus, again enjoying it apart from battling with the god awful camera.
Have a good weekend guys
Been gaming so much lately, mainly focusing on classics I missed from the PS1 & PS2 that at the moment I am a bit burned out, and the games that I splurged for just keep coming. I may just take a bit of a break for now and focus on my SRPG Studio project for a bit.
Nier Automata for me, just completed route A, so about to start route B.
Pokémon Shield.
Well I keep taking breaks on my 2nd playthrough of Odyssey. It's fun one moment and then gets too grindy another. I felt Ghost of Tsushima looked that way and haven't been too impressed.
Tried to get Rise of the Tomb Raider but the trial didn't impress me after games like Uncharted 4, it's hard. So I'm just sticking to the best open world currently - RDR2. Trying to outsmart some clever contract in Dishonored DotO with no help from the internet. Then unlocking all cars in LA Noire, redownloading MHWorld to see if I can get into it again and then some SFV.
@Wsritucci37 agreed! Itsnin my top 10 of all time! The soundtrack is phenomenal, too!
@TheArt Rise of the Tomb Raider is well worth playing, better than at least two of the main Uncharted games imo.
@Melucine hand of fate 2, I really enjoyed that game even though not everyone liked the combat
@elchebib Also on Borderlands 3 and Streets of Rage 4. Good combo!
I picked up Madden 20 for 70% off on the PlayStation store and I'll continue with RDR2. Maybe a little bit of Talisman.
A bit of Kingdom come deliverance to chill and for a bit more action spacehulk deathwing!
Spiderman and Fire Pro Wrestling World on PS4. Both amazing games!
Axiom Verge on Vita.
More of the last of us remastered replay, just hit Jackson county. This game is still amazing, even second time out. Original playthrough wasnt in HDR and whilst it's pretty without, its on another level with it! Also some animal crossing, trying to build a playground
@Col_McCafferty The graphics is quite average in comparison to so many games. Open worlds like RDR2 or HZD even have better graphics, maybe I'm just trying it too late after all these games. I dunno maybe I'll just jump straight to Shadow of the Tomb Raider one day, if that looks better.
Finished Cold Steel II the other day. Gone back to Yakuza now, starting on 3.
Due to internet problems I’ve been forced offline in recent weeks during lockdown, so I’ve decided to replay some of my favourite games on PS4 starting with the Uncharted quadrilogy. I remember really enjoying Uncharted 1 when I first played it as part of the PS4 collection but replaying now really highlights how dated it feels, the controls are so loose and untrustworthy. Story is still really enjoyable though which is the important thing anyway. Thinking of starting AC: Origins as well, gave up on it the first time I played but after absolutely adoring Odyssey I want to go back and give to another shake.
Also praise the Lord for German football as I’ll be injecting it into my eyeballs this weekend
Still working my butt off but..... I did manage to find some time to pick up a few new games! I'm the type to only play one at a time though. Also I can only squeeze in about an hour a night after the kids go to bed. So a few days ago I started re3 remake! I had high hopes for this game but.... I can't help but to feel a little let down... It's quite a bit different from the original, and having the nemesis breathe down your neck the whole time is extremely annoying. I remember playing the original as a kid and part of what made it so special was the fact that nemesis would pop up randomly and scare the crap outta me. It's still a good game though and I'll definitely finish it. But hands down re2 remake was definitely better!
Just started Uncharted the lost legacy.
I'm now on Episode 5 of Death Stranding, and really enjoying it. Also, just started a replay of Spider-Man. Want to replay some of the games I already own , like that and God of War, to get some more out of them before I get Last of Us 2 and Ghost.
@TheArt I think the graphics are pretty good plus it's got an interesting story and good combat. It's not as staggering to look at as Uncharted 4 but then few games are!
I've got Shadow left to play, not sure if I'll end up playing it on the PS4 or PS5. It's near the bottom of my current backlog!
Just finished tlou for the umpteenth time, it's still great, can't wait for the sequel.
@Arugula
Obviously tlou.... You'll thank me later!!
Went back to hollow knight and I'm glad I did only gave it a few hours the first time around and didn't really get into it but with a bit of trial and a lot of error I've made decent progress frustrating at times but we'll worth the effort
I’m already 55h into AC Odyssey and I finished the main odyssey quests plus the first DLC.
Now I am getting into the Atlantis DLC.
AC Odyssey is indeed a very long Odyssey.
It is getting very exhausting. The quality of the content is quite good, but I feel it could have been compressed into less hours.
Looking forward to hopefully finishing it this weekend and finally moving on to other (shorter) games!
This weekend, when I’m not working, I’ll be playing The Outer Worlds. It’s such a great game, with fantastic characters and excellent writing. Aside from that, I’ll also be playing Huntdown on my Switch.
Outward.
It’s a pain for the first couple hours. I left the game frustrated a week ago and regretted the purchase despite it being on sale. But if you can let go of your ego and actually look at guides online, there’s a lot to be said for its exploration and immersive world.
This is a hidden gem. I recommend reading a beginners guide somewhere to fully enjoy the game.
Finishing up a backlog of completing the God of War games for PSP. Hope to finish Victor Vran this weekend.
Nintendo Switch: Animal Crossing, Tetris 99, Elder Scrolls Blades
PS4: Talos Principle
Android: Pokemon Go, OpenArena
Wii U: Mario Kart 8. Also just finished Twilight Princess.
Having a lot of fun with Yakuza Kiwami 2. Who knew that pretending to smash evil punks with bicycles would be exactly the stress reliever I needed in these challenging times?
Nioh 2. I'm hoping to finish it this weekend.
I've also finally started Link's Awakening. Loving it as much as the original.
And I'm half tempted to give Elder Scrolls: Blades a go on Switch...
PS4 - Fallout 4
Primarily, I'm a PC gamer but I've been trying to save for a new graphics card, and have gone back to PS4 for a while. I normally only play Fallout 4 with mods, but in the interest of unlocking trophies, I'm playing a vanilla play through and surprisingly, it's still fantastic! I do miss my full dialogue interface though (not that the PS4 allows it anyway... Stupid Sony).
Switch - Animal Crossing New Horizons
Working on redesigning my island so it at least looks like a place that people could live and not just a bunch of animals plonked down in random locations.
Wii U - Super Mario Galaxy
Yes, I still play the Wii U from time to time, and for now I've loaded up the Wii Menu to play some SMG. It's one of few Mario games I never really gave the time to because of just hating everything the Wii stood for, but I'm getting in to it and dealing with the motion controls as best as I can. Still a very beautiful game all these years on.
I'm playing "work" as always on weekend. Why this question every week?
@Col_McCafferty
Yeah, but I still think that being forced to fight them is unfair. I actually don't care about the hordes. I'm dying to see the game through to the end The plot is really good.
Switching between Vampyr and Final Fantasy 7 (OG). Just lost White Chapel last night due to my... eating habits... oops...
Horizon Zero Dawn and Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order. I was one of those that never bought the game, regardless of its great reputation. Now that I've played it, I regret not buying it when it first came out. It's an amazing game. Also, Star Wars is amazing however I still suck at it so I'm trying to improve!
Tom Nook just keeps asking me for more money, when does it end ☹️😭
I just finished the platinum on Ghostbusters Remastered and am going on to finish up Indivisible this week. I got it for free but am seriously enjoying it even though the likelihood of me playing it if it wasn't given to me is very slim. Going to continue to work through my backlog until The Last of Us Part II is released.
Same as for issue #322 and #323: Death Stranding. Still enjoying it immensely, but I wasn’t able to play it for the last week and a half and I’ve already forgotten the controls and menu navigation. It’s fairly complex but the game does a great job of gradually adding new devices and movement possibilities
I’ve also been getting the itch to break out the Vita again. It’s been a while, old friend. Maybe some Trails of Cold Steel on the little guy.
Ori 2. And Sunset Overdrive.
Just sayin...
Yakuza 4 baby!
The Witcher 3 on PS4 and GTA III on Android.
The Tetris Effect weekend ritual is all my constrained 45 minutes of freedom can afford. So many avatars unlocked in a short time...right now I'm a space penguin!
@wittypixel how is risk of rain 2? I really liked the first one
As for what im playing this weekend, blasphemous, very good game and is on sale! Probably some FF7R, and rage 2(which is also on sale). Rage 2 is not the best game ever made but its fun.
@Ear_wiG ive owned vampyr for awhile, but have never really played it much. Is it good?
Ok, I 've finished Days Gone. All I can say is if you own a PS4 and don't own Days Gone you are doing it wrong! It' s one of the best games this gen for me. Gonna go look for the OST on Spotify now
@gollumb82 Was you up all night?!
😉
Good job, no spoilers please!
It's a game that is very much like it's lead character, Deacon. A bit rough and around the edges, some obvious flaws and on the surface at least seems 'generic' and yet just like Shrek and onions, Deacon and the game have many layers and if some people give it a chance they may be surprised.
I mean, before the game I had no interest in motorbikes but with this and Sons of Anarchy (which I'm currently watching) I totally get them now. The freedom they offer and how bad ass a motorbike is compared to a car.
There are a number of memorable characters in the game and the open world is always a challenge to navigate. Just like with RDR2 I haven't used fast travel once. In a game where you're meant to survive the 'freaker' apocalypse it would feel like cheating!
@Col_McCafferty
Agree on all points Colonel I never do spoilers! Ýour analysis of DG is spot on. That's what struck me at the end- in the beginning Deacon doesn't care about anything, his sarcastic comments are all over the place. Not so at the end.
And no, I wasn't up all night but I usually game between 10 pm and 1 am when my daughter is asleep
I admit I used fast travel maybe 5 times in total. The world in the game (much like in RDR2) is too beautiful to miss all its glory. I did, however, skip fighting hordes as much as possible. I tried to treat the game like real life. I imagine that if I were in this kind of situation and was up against a horde I would run like hell (especially with ammo being scarce- that's something I would have liked more about the game- if ammo would be so scarce that combat became a necessity in extreme situations). Keep pushing on brother!
@gollumb82 Yeah I did that at the start as well, played it like a Walking Dead simulator and tried not to take that many risks.
Where's the fun in that though? It's just a game after all!
Trial and error is an essential core mechanic of almost every single game and Days Gone is no different. Still, it's not so easy to be so logical when you're trapped in a dark cave with a horde on your heels!
@Col_McCafferty
All fair points. In the end a game needs to be entertaining (Soulslike games excluded). I guess it's just my personal preference for realism in games. Now it's time for a change as I need a palate cleanser before The Last of Us 2 hits
Bought Valkyria Chronicles back on the ps3 and loved it but barely did a quarter of campaign, last week I bought it again and the sequel for £15 in the sale on PS4.
I'm determined to complete it and have already overtaken my younger self, it's bloody fantastic, even better than I remembered. I've got into board games these last 12 months and it has many similarities.
@ellsworth004 Risk of Rain 2 is good! really good. i thought making it 3D environment would be weird but ita so much fun and challenging, but a good challenge.
get a few friends together and you will get lost in it.
last point, the game is easy to pick uo and out down since its all about making your character as legendary as possible, it keeps that format from the first game.
Finishing Assassin's Creed Unity, which has been a fun game. I needed a break from the 4 month grind that was The Witcher.
I've been playing the Uncharted Games for the first time, and have no idea why it's taken me this long?? Started them on Monday and am on game 3 already... But continuing with the 3rd today!
Late to comment on this, but I played Terminator: Resistance as was on sale. I like the first two films and at a budget price, I enjoyed the game for what it was. Pretty good.
Fallout 76 has had a free trial all weekend; now that I've dumped in some hours, I might as well dump in some dollars too. Damn you Fallout!
@ellsworth004 I’ve been loving it so far! It’s a dark and weirdly topical vampire power fantasy, so much to love! The combat is a little janky, but I’ve actually been enjoying it a lot. Very “souls-like”, which I’ll admit I love... And prepare yourself for a lot of dialogue, albeit really well-written and acted. Anyways... I say give it a chance!
After finishing this is the police 2 , I just downloaded rebel cops
@Badheelman im fearful of buying it, what aspect did you enjoy best?
I've been playing lots of Fallout lately but all for the first time: 4, 3, and NV (that order), so that's my frame.
On those grounds, it feels like a Fallout game so far; I tracked it before the new update and it sounded sad, but I can vouch that besides VATS, it's now like the others. I've only solo'd so far but the few folks with camps I've seen seem helpful and no one has attacked me yet. My biggest hesitation was one more time suck, but if I check in for an hour or 2 per day or week, worth it
