Since Sony is yet to officially patch PlayStation 4 exclusive Bloodborne with 60 frames-per-second support, well-known modder Lance McDonald has now released his unofficial update on his Patreon page. He told the world of his plans to go public with the sought-after patch back in October last year, stating: "Out of respect for PlayStation, I want them to have the first chance to put 60 frames-per-second Bloodborne into the hands of players". Since that hasn't happened as of February 2021, McDonald has now made the update freely available for everyone to download. The kicker is that you'll need a modded PS4 to do so.
Bloodborne must be running on version 1.09 (the latest one) for this to work, and as soon as the 60FPS patch is applied successfully, the FromSoftware classic will have its frame rate doubled at a resolution of 1280x720. You can get a peek at what that looks like in the video embedded above, with the upgrade achieved by utilising code found in Dark Souls III. While we wait to see if Sony will ever put out an update for the title included in the PS Plus Collection, this patch can be considered the next best thing by those who have the capabilities to get it up and running.

Yea I'm not modding a ps4 for the sake of trying to get 60fps on Bloodborne. The 30fps isn't THAT terrible on BB otherwise I wouldn't nearly have a 1000 hours on the game.
@Nepp67 It’s barely 30FPS. The game isn’t unplayable because of the bad frame rate, it’s just that the game would be infinitely better at 60FPS.
C'mon Sony / From Software, if this fella can do this on his own then why not pump out an official version.
Or better still, pay this chap for his work and release his patch (once vetted) for us all to enjoy!
@nessisonett You can literally see people whining all over the place because "Ohh the frame rate is terrible, it's unplayable" when the only times it ever drops horribly is when you beat a boss and it explodes.
The mod lowers the resolution to 720p?! Now that's unplayable!
@ShogunRok That’s how I feel every time I boot up my Switch.
Anyone even have a molded PS4 now.
too busy patting themselves on the back, a quick patch can sort out the frame rate, a patch at a later date can provide a proper ps5 upgrade
I don’t understand why this never even received a Pro patch. Hope something official is in the works in some capacity.
@ShogunRok Im betting the modder will find a way to make it 1080p. (Edit)
It’s really not good enough that there isn’t an official patch. The fans have been crying out for this for years.
It’s pretty embarrassing for Sony and FROM when a modder has to release something because the companies couldn’t be bothered.
It’s a massive eye-roll situation.
Its not the framerate i have issues with more the frame pacing and that hideous chromatic abhoration..an option to turn that off would have been nice..well overdue a ps5 update..
If only fromsoft would update the game themselves
I'm thinking the reason they haven't patched in 60fps is because a complete remake is coming eventually. At a guess, a lot of the work done on demon souls remake could be used on a new version of bloodborne and with sony owning the IP they would only have to share the profit with bluepoint not from software.
@Jimmer-jammer A patch for a 6 year old game for the Pro console which isn't being manufactured anymore?
You're a very positive thinking person, that's for sure!
@Party_Cannon at this point I’m more so hoping for something PS5 related, but I do generally try and approach life with the outlook of a certain Monty Python song 😊
