Huh, Hood: Outlaws & Legends may well be one to keep your eye on as we near its release next month on PlayStation hardware. That is if the latest gameplay trailer is anything to go by, which gives a fantastic overview of what to expect from the medieval multiplayer experience. Out on 10th May 2021 for both PS5 and PS4, the PvPvE undertaking from Geordie studio Sumo Digital is all about opposing teams trying to steal the same set of treasure. What complicates matters is the presence of enemies — both AI-driven and human.

Four and a half minutes of gameplay footage walks us through how a typical match in Hood: Outlaws & Legends could play out. After choosing a class, you and your team infiltrate an enemy stronghold. That could be done silently or by causing a ruckus, or anything in between. Once you've found the loot, it's time to plan your escape. The whole trailer is narrated by Diana Burnwood of Hitman fame, which increases the cool factor a couple more notches.

The game will also take advantage of the PS5's DualSense controller, as detailed on the PlayStation Blog. Haptic Feedback will emulate the power and precision of a bow while an explosive arrow will reverberation throughout the pad itself. Elsewhere, as your stamina depletes, the controller's Adaptive Triggers will have their resistance increased as each swing and blow becomes tougher to accomplish. "These approaches help players’ to focus on the intended target or incoming danger by providing them with an additional layer of feedback and reducing the need to look elsewhere for a status update."

Finally, you'll feel the coarse gravel on the floor as you slide along it while the footsteps of enemy objectives are conveyed once again through Haptic Feedback. It sounds like Sumo Digital has really gone to town with its DualSense implementation, making Hood: Outlaws & Legends a very worthy PS5 title. Again, it's out on 10th May for both PS5 and PS4.
