Resident Evil fans are unanimous in their adoration of the series’ arcade-infused Mercenaries mode, but outside of some loosely inspired alternatives in the Resident Evil Revelations sub-series, the option has been largely absent in recent years. Well it’s back in Resident Evil Village – and it’s bringing upgradable weapons and tons of customisation options with it.

Gameplay will play out in first-person – like the rest of the game – but you can still look forward to timers, high scores, and combos, as glimpsed in the above trailer. It goes without saying, but you’ll be able to play this as part of Capcom’s upcoming survival horror – it’s included with the game, and isn’t a post-release expansion or anything like that. Exciting!
