After being formally announced almost two years ago at E3 2019, Bandai Namco has finally confirmed Tales of Arise will be released for both PlayStation 5 and PS4 on 10th September 2021. The former hadn't been announced before today, so it's nice to know that PS5 owners are being treated to a native version. You can get a brand new look at Tales of Arise in the trailer above.
It's all in Japanese so we couldn't tell you what's going or what any of the characters are saying, but the footage does prove that the new, gorgeous art style has been retained for the final version. PS5 users will be treated to two different modes: Performance Mode takes advantage of 60 frames-per-second while Graphic Priority Mode is all about that sweet 4K resolution. Load times will also be much faster on PS5.
A Famitsu article confirms that the anime cutscenes will be produced by ufotable, which has previously worked on God Eater and Demon Slayer. Finally, if you want to see even more Tales of Arise, here's seven minutes of gameplay, which shows off the new combat system in detail. Are you looking forward to this one? Knowing Tales, even if the trailer was in English I don’t think we’d know what was going on or what the characters were saying.
Omg! Can't wait! Do you know if it will be a PS4 to PS5 free upgrade?
Nice, so there's my game for September
This looks pretty good, definitely on my radar.
I'm really looking forward to seeing what they do with this. I love the Tales games but it feels like the series needs to take a real step forward (even though Berseria was very good). Reasonably high expectations.
This looks really good!
Never played the series before but on a bit of a JRPG kick with Remake, Strikers then Replicant. Graphics look nice, combat looks fluid. As long as the dialogue isn't cringe inducing, I'm in.
Combat looks quite fun in this. And god, is it pretty!
Nice to see the series finally evolve past its PS3-era trappings.
Looks good, I hope the story and characters is at least as good as tales of vesperia, my fav tales 😃
As far as aesthetics goes it looks terrible to me but if it has a good combat system I’ll gladly play it! Love a good Arpg and it seems like they went well over the usual tales budget for this one.
Nice! Just got to finish both Xillia and Symphonia games before then!
Woot!, another game on the list. Looks fantastic, Day 1
Finally. I've been googling a release date for this game nearly every day now.
I usually get the Tales games, although the plats can be too ridiculously involving at times. Must say, I’m not a big fan of the character designs here, hopefully we’ll get some alternate costumes in game. I’ll see how it reviews, but unlikely to get it at release.
N.i.c.e.tales games is always fun.word up son
Glad to see the PS4 version didn’t get canned. I didn’t expect it since Zesteria was a dual release but a long time with no info got me worrying; although I never got round to playing it so I ended up buying the Trilogy pack (also only way these days to get a non PS-Hits copy of Berseria these days) and ended up with a PS4 copy.
I'll definitely be looking into this game. I probably won't get it right away but once I clear out most of my backlog and (hopefully) have a PS5, I'd be down to give this a go. I only tried a Tales game once, just a demo for Vesperia, but I remember enjoying it a bit. Might try to find that on the bargain bin if I can't snag a PS5 by then, I would just really want to play this game at 60fps if possible with those beautiful visuals.
Always fun to play a tales-game and this looks good!
Do we know whether this is a worldwide release date or just Japan?
Edit: Yes it’s worldwide.
My PS5 is ready.
I'm just hoping it has a different ending to your typical bitter sweet "Tales of" ending.
I really liked Berseria overall, just the ending was a bit of a let down.
Hi there fellow gamers.
This looks pretty good.
And the combat system looks super fun and engaging.
Man, I miss playing Tales of games.
The last one was Xillia, wich was ages ago.
Can´t wait to play Arise on my PS5 on September.
Cheers, stay safe folks and happy gaming to us all
Sweet. Day one buy. Do we get the PS4 version for free if we get the PS5 version like other games?
