Unbelievably, the Abandoned App Pre-Load Really Is Live on PS5

For a split second, I read that file size as 199 GB and my eyes nearly popped out of my head.

But...pre-loading an app that shows trailer, eh? What a world.

I’m convinced it’s a plot by a Doctor Who baddie. We’ll tune into the trailer and our souls will be consumed by some 40 year old man in a rubber suit.

Idk what to believe anymore, but they better deliver something hella amazing for all this buzz they are causing. It's either gonna blow us all away or it's gonna be super trash. No in between 😹

I think it’s Kojima. I don’t think Sony would let a random indie developer put a trailer app the store, especially one that could cause this much trouble. I also think this might be a demo. A lot of effort for a trailer. A trailer that’s a surprise demo, now that’s an idea.
Heck, if we got real crazy, PT is back on. It’s possible at this point.

@Jaz007 I dunno, would Kojima use a $30 asset of a man with an eyepatch that you can buy online? Bit amateurish for me.

I will be downloading it, but I have pushed my expectations down, so, inevitably I will not be disappointed when it is just another indie. (Please Blue Box, prove me wrong!)

I still feel this is some kind of Kojima game . There is far to many things that line up with his involvement to ignore.

@nessisonett Maybe that's what he wants us to think 🤷 really hope this is something big by Sony and not just some random indie team making a asset flip apparently.

There sure are a ton of language options for such a small indie team. I’ve watched the video of someone start up the pre-load and clearly a ton of localization work has been put in with all the language choices.

@nessisonett Hasan denied it on Twitter that it was that asset of a man with an eyepatch. He said it’s their original artwork and anyone with an eyepatch will look similar to it with such a blurry photo. So more questions than answers once again which is the norm at this point.

@nessisonett Why not? Kojima would definitely do it. There’s a chance it’s not him, but it definitely has his style on it. Remember, this man swapped characters a demo to surprise people getting the game.

I must have read about 20 "news" stories anticipating an app that will show trailers for an unknown game.

No one outside of gaming would understand what I just wrote.

I'm thinking this is all some elaborate scheme to mine bitcoin from PS5s. Like that one Cooking Mama thing that may or may not have been real. If by some miracle whatever comes of this thing blows people away, only then will I download this thing. Until them I'm off the hype train for whatever this is.

I'm actually starting to think that this could be some kind've... PlayStation games showcase but beamed directly to our PS5s letting us experience the haptics and stuff as we see the trailers it's bonkers I know but that's what it's seeming like with words on the app when you open it

I'm starting to think this isn't even a game they're doing. It's just an app they're working on for Sony. Maybe to show upcoming games.
Either that or its Kojima dining on his self importance within the PlayStation community (till he goes Xbox and they all hate him).
Or it's an indie Dev that have discovered they can get lots of traction by trolling...then protesting ignorance...then trolling again. And Sony let it ride because it also keeps playstation in the conversation since Microsoft dominated E3.

Whatever it is they've built it up to a point where they can't hope to please everyone. Even if it turns out to be silent hills... PT worked so well because it was its own little condensed experience. And we've had a thousand PT clones since then. Silent hills has a lot to live up to.

@Amusei TBH - they aren’t creating the buzz, Social media and sites are… plenty of games try and create a buzz with outlandish stunts and they are ignored or create little hype… for some reason everyone seems to have bought into this. I feel for the devs tbh. People are acting like fools and now they are in a lose lose situation. People can’t be mature so whatever happens this is going to end badly. Even massive budget games that “deliver” get hammered in this day and age… people have got so hyped for no reason on this game it’s gonna end in tears

I better load the app up to be in a forest. There's nothing around. As I get closer to a house I can barely see in the distance initially, I hear static, I go inside house and investigate TV.
I have to turn the tuning dial (yes kids, we used to this), and once tuned in, a trailer plays.

The whole thing is definitely odd. I'm loving the intrigue and theories, even if comes to nothing. With the actual app now installed, a few things seem 'off' to me. After selecting the language, the grammar towards the end of the text doesn't seem correct. Also, the ellipsis on 'Check back soon' is wrong. And one, probably just for me and my OCD touches, the alignment on screen of the words 'Check back soon..' is not central, it's aligned off centre to the right. I just think it's odd to have these little things there for something PS5 exclusive? Or it's just me

You guys I just downloaded the app and it let me play a 35 minute demo where I was controlling Kojima, he was riding Shergar through a forest

It has some time to do untold damage to millions of PS5s in the background before the big reveal of nothingness or somethingness.

I can't wait to see what Kojima has to show us er erm I mean Blue...point... er erm Blue Box games Listening to the rumours about this it should be MGS1 or Silent Hill or even PS HOME or all 3 mixed together Probably NONE of them Oh well.

Sony turned down days gone 2 but put all their faith into this game, theres something fishy going on, if its not kojima it's definitely a bigger studio than they are making out.

At this point, it's a big fat troll job. If they deliver something special, it'll save them. If they don't...

@Stocksy You're right when you say that people, social medias and sites are creating the buzz but we definitively can say as much of the devs. Cmon.. the twitter account picture changed to a small island ("Small island" translated in japanese is Kojima), he deliberately chose a guy with an eyepatch knowing too well people would make a link to Kojima's Big Boss and most of all: Guess the name of the game, starts with an "S" and ends with an "L".

I think that it's either a silent hill in disguise or Bluebox trying to use that buzz for publicity. I think we can safely say that he participated to the buzz if only because of that "S" and "L" post

I'm playing Death stranding these days and I thought by reading the "Check back soon" that the caption looked like the one in Death stranding. I must be trying to convince myself. If it's silent hill that is annouced august the 10th, I will not be able to stop screaming

@Zirgud I’m not sure I approve of living in a culture where a couple of tweets and vague things that could mean anything lead to someone “deserving everything they get” or “had it coming” it’s not like he has abused minorities or hurt people - he tweeted about a video game and he deserves no abuse…

I didn't mean that @Stocksy, I'm sorry I meant him no harm nor you. I just wanted to point out he tweeted that S and L thing and that it's not a surprise people are making a fuss about it. He did participate in the buzz IMO but doesn't deserve abuse whatsoever

Trailer reveal Tuesday 10th August...I'm thinking we're looking the wrong direction here. This is actually Sony Santa Monica showing a God of War RAGNAROK trailer, all this Kojima talk is a red herring. Teaser on the 10th, will also announce a State of Play on Thursday 12th August! I have no facts or theories to support this in any way. Someone translate Hasan Kahraman to ancient Norse to see if it means Cory Barlog.
