There’s a new SpongeBob SquarePants game on the way! SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake, the latest tie-in from THQ Nordic and developer Purple Lamp Studios, will see the eponymous hero exploring the “infinite expanses of the cosmos” where “there might even be a reality where mayonnaise isn’t an instrument”.
Throughout the campaign, you’ll “travel to seven distinct Wishworlds like Wild West Jellyfish Fields and Halloween Rock Bottom” wearing more than “30 F.U.N.tastic costumes like SnailBob and SpongeGar”. There’s no date attached to the title, but it’s coming to the PlayStation 4. You can check out the first trailer above.

Concerning that it's last gen only, hope it's not a low budget cashgrab. It being done by the devs of the great BFBB remake gives me confidence though.
Stellar trailer too! Between this and Destroy All Humans, whoever's doing the marketing at THQ Nordic is doing a smashing job.
I'm kinda glad they didn't remake the Movie Game and jumped on making a new game.
Pretty sweet trailer for a Spongebob game, Im interested!
@Deadlyblack I played the movie game so much when I was a kid. It was honestly really good for what it was!
@nessisonett I did too. I think I played it more than BFBB while growing up.
@MrSensical It a Spongebob game, so it gonna be aimed at children, so it make sense that it last gen only... No child has an Xbox Series X or PS5 yet unless they have rich parents. rofl.
Remake of lights, camera, action pretty please!
This also looks very intresting tho!
Destroy All Humans 2 Remake and a new SpongeBob game, that's all I wanted out of the THQ Showcase.
@nessisonett - Man the SpongeBob SquarePants movie game was surprising good for a tie-in movie game, granted it had some issues, but the fun-factor managed to outweigh the negatives.
@MrSensical - They'll probably drop an Upgrade Patch later on down the line
@Floki i wouldnt say rich . i think some people legit just won't spend an extra $500 i.e. $1000 , for a measly $500 toy
Sweet mother of pearl this looks totally coral! I'm ready! I'm ready to pay me money! (No, I'm not a big spongebob nerd. My kids watch it...)
@nomither6 Most people aren't gonna spend $500 on any device/toy for their children in general. Most will just buy an used Xbox One and PS4 from gamestop and call it a day... Unless the parent is gamer as well, or just well off.
@Floki lol , that is true .
@JustPlainLoco Same here man, those two games were enough!
I am sad that Kingdoms of Amalur DLC didn't make an appearance though (despite never playing the OG or remaster).
@JustPlainLoco @MrSensical Hopefully a PS5 version/upgrade patch does happen eventually, shame this game is being held back by PS4 technology.
