Ubisoft has got pretty good at teasing future projects in its current games, and Far Cry 6 is no different. While the game isn’t out yet – and a Push Square review is still several days away as we only got access today – YouTubers are already uncovering secrets, and sharing them all over the web. Specifically, a couple of QR codes have been found in the Caribbean foray, one of which points to promotional materials for Netflix adaptation Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix.
The other is more interesting, however: located on wooden crates, the QR code links to a video of a Fallout-esque cartoon character and a map. There are three icons suggesting that this is multiplayer related, and the buildings look distinctly like the ones in Far Cry 4. So, what is this all about? Well, honestly, it could be anything, from promotion for the upcoming Pagan Min DLC all the way through to some kind of mulitplayer mode.
The tease is featured prominently in the game for a reason, so we’ll probably just have to wait until the French publisher is ready to tell us more. Interesting stuff, though.

"The tease is featured prominently in the game for a reason..."
Well, yes. To get the game exposure as influencers and websites speculate 😊
There are very few game series that are up its own ass the way Farcry is. Every time they release a new entry they can't help but rehash old stuff over and over. It's rare to see such a solid series lack the confidence and capability to just create new better things/characters. No one needs to revisit all the old ***** from 2-3 entries back.
My biggest issue is these Ubisoft games just pump more and more collectibles rather than innovate (by my personal standards). I'll get it at some point. But all those collectibles on map just make me want to throw my controller for some reason. Maybe it's an OCD thingy.
Cannot wait for this game. Literally just picked up Resident evil Village second hand for considerably less than half its launch price so I’m cranking that till then!
@CynicalGamer bloat is a problem with games like these. The needless padding of the game to inflate its runtime and give the impression that the game is bigger than it really is is exhausting. Some games are sensible about how much they think is reasonable, games like Spider-Man, but Ubisoft go to extremes with it and think they are providing valie-for-money when for me all their cookie-cutter side missions do is slowly drain away my resolve to continue. I've not completed any of Ubisoft's games bar Ass Creed 2 because they'd bored me to a standstill.
I've played far cry 3, 4 and 5 over the past 18 months enjoyed them all, so I'm very much looking forward to more mediocrity, I'm not sure which developers are bringing out any similar games that are any better, and I can't be dealing with monsters, goblins and wizards..if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
I feel sad that Far Cy 5 will prob be the last FC game I play, cos I think 6 looks absolutely rotten, from the "quirky" forced humour and the memelolz stupid weapons for streamers to over-react to on streams, to the terrible looking graphics, it seems to be going down the wrong path
This is why I avoid YouTube before the release date of any big game. These people are selfish and IMHO should be penalised for spoiling games before release.
Well compared to the majority in this thread I’m pumped for this game. Interesting political concept and cool weapons. Yes please. Not everything has to be a fine art, some things can be enjoyable but nothing more than that.
@Grimwood how else would FIFA sell if it weren't for those who love mediocrity 😔
To me FARCRY is the most fun UbiSoft game but waiting on reviews though. Only problem is, I think if you have Ubisoft games fatigue from just playing any of their games recently, you're inclined to not give it a high score. So the scores don't really reflect an opinion from someone who hasn't touched a Ubi game for a long time. I blame Ubisoft for that, they release too many games.
@Grimwood I obviously can't speak for others, and I'm not that much interested in Far Cry 6 myself either. But I believe mediocrity is needed in order to recognize the greatness in other works. And I don't think there's anything wrong with being interested in something mediocre, especially when it comes to art where opinions vary.
In any case, I hope this game does well, even though I'm quite pessimistic about it. Ubisoft hasn't done anything to raise my intrigue in many years.
@Integrity "bloat is a problem with games like these." 100% agree
That's one of the things that made Far Cry: Blood Dragon so good. Even once you take away it's great 80's love-in aesthetic, it was a smaller more focused game.
Rather that 500+ map icons there were less than 100.
Instead of 34 outposts there were 13 garrisons.
By the time you finished you were done with it's mechanics.
Often less is more.
@kingbreww you Cannot wait, but you literally just said you will be playing something else... ha!
@themightyant absolutely Mr Ant. Less is more. Expect for when more is more like books set in The Culture universe of Ian M Banks or PBS Spacetime podcasts 😁
@kejsi-sensei god damnit 😂😂😂
Nah always gotta let games have another update after the day one update at the barest minimum. Normally I go three months after launch. But games I love I’ll make exceptions for. Still gotta wait for at least one update tho haha. So yeh, I’ll be waiting 😉
People get crazy about FarCry.
Already enlisted my cousin to play with me. I guess we even entitled to the "Vice Pack" that looks hysterical.
The Netflix show must have been directed by Guy Marvel. It best contain the scene you helped shoot in Far Cry 5.
@Integrity Have to disagree. Spider-Man had nearly as many collectables as Far Cry 5. You don't have to get them, but even for those with OCD you can buy maps for all the collectables when you find the associated missions. Also, I think with Spider-Man it was worse because of the crimes in progress that radio in. Until late game they take a considerable chunk of time to tackle and then all the other things you need to do to 100% each area also has big big fights, so it became a massive chore for me and Far Cry 5 felt less so. I just turned up and quickly blasted everyone grabbed whatever it was then went on with my game. Helicopters made everything a cakewalk and I was able to snipe and kill big groups of enemies with the bear/cougar. It was just all so much quicker to move from area to area.
@Jayofmaya fair enough. I found Spider-Man really easy to do. The collectibles weren't really hidden and the fast travel meant I could just load in less than a second to get to where I needed to be.
Maybe it's because I was playing on PS5.
@Integrity That's probably it, I was on base ps4 when I played. The tougher fights at the end drove me nuts when I was trying to 100% everything. I did every crime in progress both halves of the game and it felt draining. Would like to play it again new game plus and skip most of the side content, though.
Idiots. Social media platforms are at times the scum of the earth. People should put phones ,tablets and PCs down and get out and see and experience the real world... I've been playing the game for a couple of days thanks to my sources but I would not spoil things for others...I have a life, other things to take up my time. Absolutely hate these social media platforms...
@Integrity again agreed. Though each of those books are relatively short and self contained and individually don't outstay their welcome unlike recent Ubi games. Part of the joy is returning to the universe and characters but also to a continued but separate plot. Ubisoft used to do this better.
Always nice to return to a character and world over the years. I've done the same with the Aubrey–Maturin series by Patrick O'Brian or the Sharpe novels. Or Mario, Link, Samus and many more.
