Update: NISA and NISA Europe have revealed limited and deluxe editions for upcoming JRPG Trails from Zero, as well as some merchandise. Pre-orders go live on Monday — that's the 17th January — in Europe. If you're in the US, you can pre-order through the NISA online store now.
Not quite the announcement many fans were expecting, but to be honest, we should have seen this coming.
The limited edition includes the game, a hardcover artbook, the soundtrack on CD, a cloth poster, a small acrylic stand featuring chibi characters, a steelbook, and special packaging. This edition of the game is exclusive to NISA's online store, and it's priced at $89.99 in the US.
Meanwhile, the deluxe edition includes a digital soundtrack and a mini artbook. NISA says that if you previously pre-ordered the standard edition through its store, you'll automatically be upgraded to the deluxe edition.
Special editions are all fine and dandy, but we still don't have a release date for Trails from Zero. NISA has reiterated that the game is set to release in Autumn 2022 — or Fall for you Americans.
Original Story: NISAmerica, the publisher behind the Trails titles here in the West, is teasing something for tomorrow, the 14th January (technically, that's today, if you're reading this in Europe). More specifically, it's teasing something to do with Trails from Zero — the PlayStation 4 RPG that's set to release at some point later this year, in Q3.
A tweet from NISA simply reads: "We have ZERO things to talk about tomorrow..."
Well, what else could it be? Given that the game is already announced for other platforms — like Nintendo Switch and Steam — we assume that this is going to be confirmation of a release date. If we're very lucky, Trails from Zero might arrive earlier than initially planned — but we'd advise against getting your hopes up.
In any case, we'll be sure to update this article tomorrow when the news does hit. In the meantime, let us know if you're looking forward to Trails from Zero in the comments section below.

I beat it last year on Vita and it’s really quite brilliant. Works great both as a sequel to the Sky trilogy and clearly setting up the next ones. I’m a couple of chapters into Azure/Ao and enjoying that one too, although a shame I have to play it on PC and not Vita.
@nessisonett I've never heard anything but ridiculous levels of praise for Trails from Zero. Super hyped to finally play it.
Uh oh I better hurry up with finishing Trails in the Sky the 3rd!
@ShogunRok Falcom just excel when it comes to developing characters and locations. Talking to absolutely everybody in Crossbell is basically encouraged, there’s entire subplots and extra bits of detail provided by random NPCs. I do wish the Sky trilogy had been ported to PS4 first though, they absolutely need to be fresh in your mind before this one because it’s a direct sequel with all that entails.
Oh please let NISA not send a single tweet tomorrow! Please!
I really need to get around to playing the Trails in the sky series before I pick these two games up, but playing 3 JRPG's in a row will burn me out. Probably best to just take my time with them... This series is so daunting to get into, Theres the 3 Trails in the Sky games, then I have to play Trails to Zero and Azure, then Nayuta? Then there's the 4 Trails of Cold Steel Games and then there's the Trails to Reverie Games and there's already 2 of those AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
See you guys in 2028 when I actually catch up
It's sad that NISA is taking this long to release Trails from Zero and Trails to Azure when both games are literally already translated. Hell, they're even using the geofont translations, so what's taking so long?
@GorosBat
I believe Nayuta is not canon technically so you could skip that one if you like. Might shave a year off catching up!
@GorosBat I was comparing the number of games in this series to how I typically like to play JRPGs and I was at something absurd like 2029 before I'd even catch up to where the games are now, lol.
I Look Forward To Getting The Platinum For This.
Echoing what other people have already said, this is a series I'd love to get into (I own multiple games from the series) but I just don't know if I'll ever be able to find the time. If I do, I will most likely start with ToCS and just read a synopsis for the Sky games. That would give me a chance at least.
DAMNBOI I AM READY AF
@Ralizah tbh this was my estimate for everything we know about, by the time 2028 rolls around there will probably be another 6 plus titles😫😫😫
@GigaGaia They're developing a completely new build that isn't the original PC or Evo, all Evo content is being translated by the Geofront team and NISA are doing the final QC and Edits to their script (likely to remove things like "bruh moment" and fixing inaccuracies from the old fan translation geofront used as a base)
Well, i will just leave the usual moan about how Kuro no kiseki is being majorly delayed by all this.
I just preordered zero, azure, and reverie yesterday coincidentally, so this is well timed
@Lolcat I worry that they’ll stifle some of the charm by removing those references from the script. Part of the fun is the user-created chest messages that appear.
I'm guessing it is very expensive for them to translate their games but would love for them to bring their games to the West quicker. Would have preferred to played this before Cold Steel on ps4 but I'm looking forward to the newer entries. Will prob play Zero anyway.
@GorosBat Maybe in Japan. NIS isn't quite as fast about localizing these, thankfully.
I thought it was a bit too early for a release date but hey at least they reiterated its still aiming for this year!
@Mauzuri "nisaineurope" Store.
Still just a vague Fall 2022 window? So exciting lol.
