Feel free to correct us with a better example, but this has to be one of the quickest turnarounds from the original game to a sequel ever, right? Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars, which only just launched for PlayStation 4 in late October 2021, is getting a follow-up in less than two weeks. Voice of Cards: The Forsaken Maiden comes to PS4 (and PS5 via backwards compatibility) on 17th February 2022. Check out the reveal trailer above. The game will cost £24.99/$29.99.
NieR creator Yoko Taro returns to head up the sequel along with Keiichi Okabe and Kimihiko Fujisaka. "A remote island chain, protected by maidens for generations now faces cruel ruination. Set sail on a voyage to circumvent fate itself," the trailer states. Footage looks a lot like the first game, so we wouldn't expect much in the way of gameplay innovation given just the few months of breathing space between the two titles.
In our Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars PS4 review, we praised its presentation, character art, story moments and decent turn-based combat. Awarded a 7/10 rating, we called it a "thoroughly charming experience". Associate editor Stephen Tailby then proclaimed it's the most relaxing RPG he's ever played, so at least he has another game to put his feet up for.

The first game was one of my top games last year, I will definitely be checking this one out as it looks like more of the same.
Totally forgot about the original… but meant to check it out as I love Taro. I’ll add it to the wishlist now before I forget.
It was a great game but towards the end it just got a little repetitious. Great characters and narrator too
I played the demo on switch and I really liked, I'm just waiting for a sale under $20 to get it =D.
This is looking like a genius gaming concept. Quick (and cheap probably) to release sequels and on top of that, while I probably won't play it, I can see that it could easily gather a dedicated following.
Oh wow I haven't finished the original yet. I got sidetracked by other stuff but thats pretty crazy to see it getting a sequel so quickly.
I want him (and platinum games) to make nier automata 2...
One could say it's bad timing to release the sequel in two weeks as it will get heavily overlooked, but I'm guessing it doesn't matter as much with small games like this.
It is a bit strange that a sequel is coming out already and gets announced two weeks before release, but I assume these don't take very long to make. I've been interested in trying out the first one, as there's nothing wrong with a nice relaxing game every so often, but kept forgetting to. If I see it in one of these sales on PSN soon, I'll finally get it like I did with Lost in Random.
I liked the first, but they'd prob have to make the cards a bit more diverse for a second one, it was beginning to feel a bit tiresome toward the end.
Wasn't expecting that, but I guess now that the first game laid the groundwork it's easy to churn out sequels.
Personally I haven't played The Dragon Roars yet. I'm a fan of Taro's stuff, but the extremely low difficulty put me off this one for now - if I play a turn-based RPG, I want it to make me think. I plan on maybe getting it during a deep sale, to check out the story and quirky card presentation if nothing else.
