Gotham Knights could yet receive support for up to four players in co-operative play as the game's PlayStation Store listing is updated to "four network players". The page also claims the upcoming title "supports up to 4 online players with PS Plus" in a separate bullet point. At the time of writing, Gotham Knights is only confirmed to support two players during co-op.
In fact, the same page the two aforementioned points have been discovered on reinforces this. The game description still reads: "Patrol Gotham's five distinct boroughs in solo-play or with one other hero and drop in on criminal activity wherever you find it." Currently scheduled to release for PS5 and PS4 on 25th October 2022, superheroes Batgirl, Robin, Nightwing, and Red Hood will all be playable in the standalone title.
Should the change prove to be true, it'll likely be announced whenever the game is next shown in detail — perhaps next month during a Summer Game Fest livestream. So far, co-op play in Gotham Knights is confirmed to feature drop in and drop out play, the ability for two players to play as the same superhero, and the freedom to be in completely different parts of the city.

That was known already tho, wasn’t it?
@darkswabber Nope, only two-player co-op is confirmed, as the article states.
Looking forward to this game
Looking forwards to this..
@darkswabber I think everyone presumed it was 4 player based on the footage they showed off.
Then the creative director came out and clarified saying something along the lines of not creating a world for 4 player, they prefer 2 player.
Something obviously changed. Haha.
As long as solo play isn't gimped in the aim for co-op I don't care. But it can be hard to do level design and enemy AI that is designed around single player play would usually be designed differently with multiple players.
This is my biggest concern for this game, and that enemies may be whatever the bat-family equivalent of bullet sponges are as a result.
4 player cross platform play would be great... Then I could play with a few mates at once, and all of us in a different part of the city, so it feels like a single player game anyway, haha. And maybe every once in a while, just call for back-up...
Ok cool and if batman is actually dead because I don't think he is I want him playable and if it's the latter then Dick Grayson - Batman
Hoping that it's a single player game first with the story playable in co op rather than a 4 player game that can be played alone
Probably has 4-player side content. I can't see them suddenly making the campaign have twice the players; that's sounds like a design headache. I just expect some challenge rooms or something that allow 4.
@themightyant Exactly this. Most of the times its either pretty easy or very hard when a game is playable both coop and sp. So lets hope its doable as SP as i prefer to play my games alone
Still not 100% convinced on this (or Suicide Squad: KtJL). Arkham Knight had some fights where Batman was assisted and could do joint take-downs, swap between both and they weren't too bad/annoying, so I wasn't overly concerned seeing the Game-play with 2 main Characters and playing Solo.
I just hope that its at most a '2-player' co-operative story as up to 4 seems somewhat too many - especially in the Game-play we have seen and the space doesn't seem large enough for 4 - also trying to scale up/down for 'balance' depending on the number of real players isn't easy...
Its on my Watch list but most likely, not one I'm going to buy at/near launch. A Black Friday Purchase at 'best'??? LOL
Still looking good, though will inevitably want reviews and/or complete version.
Still 100% expecting Bruce to be the talon, presumably brainwashed when investigating the court of owls
If its 4 player then its a day 1 purchase.
If its 2 player then i’ll be waiting a while.
it’s dumb that it originally doesn’t support 4 player co-op , i thought we were in next gen ? why do generations struggle so hard with co-op , when the 64 had it downpacked decades ago…………
@RoomWithaMoose
That's where my mind jumped to as well. I could see this as just DLC challenge rooms designed for 4 players.
Please no four player trophies, please no four player trophies.
Was pretty clear from the start, even if some insist it was announced as two player... Monday I guess
Better not be always online or i will skip it.
@nomither6
At five frames per second lol.
I do miss huddling around a 20 inch tv though.
Peak coop split screen was the original Halo though. That was so fire back in the gap.
The graphics in this game does look amazing.so looking forward to this game.word up son
Ohhhh this is very sexy. I hope the gameplay is just like Batman and Spiderman games.
Love the Arkham games I just hope this one doesn't go the live service route & turn out like the avengers game
