Update: Developer The Game Bakers has also confirmed that Furi is getting a native PS5 version, which will be a free upgrade if you already own the game on PS4. Like the DLC and update, the PS5 edition will release on the 17th May.

PS4 players will also be able to transfer their save data to PS5.

Original Story: File this one under "news we never saw coming": Furi, the neon-soaked action game that released for PS4 all the way back in 2016, will soon be getting a DLC pack alongside a free update. The often brutal bullet hell-slasher was well received when it first appeared on the scene, and it went on to become something of a cult hit among action aficionados.

The DLC is titled Onnamusha (not to be confused with Onimusha, the Capcom property), and it launches on the 17th May, priced at $6.99. The pack lets you play as a new character, the Onnamusha Rider. Here's a quick summary from the press release: "Onnamusha Rider is a powerful fighter that alternates between two stances: fast and agile or slower but lethal until she's able to unleash the devastating power of the Star. The new gameplay mechanics bring new challenges, for a complete rediscovery of the game."

Also hitting on the 17th May is the aforementioned free update. Here's the lowdown on that: "The studio will also publish a free update to the base game on all platforms, that includes all paid and free content available for Furi: One More Fight DLC and all the improvements made since the release (Invincible Mode, Furier Speedrun, Alternate controls...)." Not bad for a game that's almost six years old!
