Unreal Engine 5's impressive The Matrix Awakens demo will be delisted from the PS Store this coming Saturday. You'll still be able play it if you redeem it before the weekend's expiration date, but anyone who forgets to will lose out forever.
A notice on the official website says: "The UE5 tech demo will only be available in stores until July 9. Download it before that date and you’ll still be able to access the demo going forward—or re-download it if you’ve deleted it from your console." The demo allowed you to explore a vast city space in Unreal Engine 5 with the theming of The Matrix Resurrections and take part in an interactive cutscene.
In our The Matrix Awakens Hands On article, we called it an unreal demonstration of PS5's power. "This isn’t a game, of course, it’s not intended to be – it’s a demonstration of what’s to come. And if you’re yet to be wowed by a game’s presentation on the PS5, then we’ll be flabbergasted if this doesn’t leave you starry-eyed. The future is bright, folks."

After seeing those PC mods i would kill for a Superman game made with Unreal 5.
The Matrix Awakens Unreal demo turned out to be better than the Matrix Resurrections film it was supporting 🤣 Well worth a download from everyone before this vanishes into the same depths as P.T.
Thanks for the heads-up! I don't have a PS5 yet, but I'll redeem the demo anyways.
I can't play it again. It will remind me of Matrix 4 and I can't do that to myself! The tech in the demo was really cool though.
Not something I'd play again but well worth checking out if you haven't. I was convinced I was watching an actual scene from the movie at first.
@pip_muzz it's not quite as bad as PT, you'll still be able to download it as long as you've claimed it.
PT still has an icon in my ps5 library funnily enough, it lives on as a memory. I'm sure there's others, but as far as I know it's the only digital game that you can't download even if you claimed it.
Its a shame weve never gotten an amazing Matrix game. I remember after seeing the first one I was convinced we'd get a banger as it seemed like such a perfect fit. This demo was pretty cool, hopefully they build a full title around the tech in the future
It was a really cool showcase and definitely showed off the potential of UE5. Looking forward to the future.
Glad you can add games to your library from the website. No PS5 atm, but if I ever get one, I'd like to have access to it. Sounds like they're not pulling a Konami and yanking it entirely as happened with the ill-fated P.T.
@Ralizah @hugoadan
I don't have a PS5 yet either and based on the wording it appears we won't be able to play this demo when we get one, even if we claim it before then.
"...or re-download it if you’ve deleted it from your console."
This wording suggests the demo must be downloaded and installed on the console before the delist date. This would be similar to Konami's PT demo which can no longer be downloaded even if it had been claimed while it was available. Hopefully this isn't the case. It would be great if we could get clarification on this.
The demo kind of suck, graphically it's good, but artwise the demo is so generic. And why the main characters in the demo is not neo or trinity, but rather also a very generic person.
And the movie suck too 😕
@xDD90x aw man, i didn't pay attention to that part of the article. But yeah, let's hope this isn't a case similar to PT cause I'd really like to try that matrix demo when I get myself a ps5
At the time I downloaded the demo but didn't bother with it. Still not sure if I will.
@xDD90x I think you're getting too hung up on the wording. Once you've added the license to your library, it should be in your download list, regardless of whether you own the console or not.
@Ralizah I hope you're right and it won't be like PT which cannot be redownloaded even it it was added to your library.
@xDD90x I think this is different. Konami was activiely trying to destrroy anything kojima related. And P.T. was a prime target. There are other games I can play that have been delisted like marvel ultimate alliance 1-2 and jump force.
It's trash. Don't waste your time. Outside of the cool graphics, its pointless
Bring on the game i say.
@redd214 I thought enter the matrix rocked at the time lol, I played it on gamecube, although that appears to be a pretty divisive one opinion wise.
I already claimed the demo months ago, but will be sure to download it soon.
Cya.. whatever the heck that was about…..
this game is an eye opener same as the PlayStation 2 jump from playstation 1. all i knew of grand theft auto was top down soon as gta3 came out i was like omg. unreal engine 5 is gona be mad with the PlayStation camera we are could have movies we can star in 😂 im picking star trek! possibilities are endless!
