The Crown of Wu is an upcoming action game inspired by the 16th-century Chinese novel Journey to the West (as is Black Myth: Wukong), and it's coming to PS5 and PS4 later in 2022.
You play as Sun Wukong, fighting alone to reclaim the titular crown of Wu. You will need to overcome complex puzzles, traverse inhospitable environments and take down fearsome bosses on your quest.
The Crown of Wu was a semi-finalist in the PlayStation Talents program, which is an institution that aims to grow Spain's burgeoning development scene further. It looks a teensy bit shaky at times, but here's hoping the team are able to tighten things up ahead of launch.
What do you think of The Crown of Wu? Which is the better Journey to the West adaptation, Monkey or Dragon Ball? Embark on a quest of your own to the comments section below.

I have a bone to pick with you khayl..this is the third game in a week that you have brought to my attention and i'm going to have to buy this one too..you are 3 for 3 and my wallets out for a third time..i mean this in the best way as i would have overlooked raji, lost epic and this...lost epic is superb incidently 👍
It certainly doesn’t look like it plays as well as Black Myth, but I like the blend of technology. It was giving me Enslaved Journey to the West vibes, which I’m always open to. I’ll keep it on my radar.
This too, looks promising
Just looks a bit safe and generic. I feel like I’ve played it already. Plus the aesthetic doesn’t appeal.
@Northern_munkey I'm glad you think so! I picked up Raji but haven't had a chance to play, and will probably get to Lost Epic eventually. Did spring for RimWorld and the DLC today so going to dive into that over the weekend
Whilst Im looking to support upcoming young devs and the game is in a genre I enjoy, I cant help but have some concerns after watching that trailer.
The quality of the art assetts was highly questonable. I think im being generous if I say ps4 quality, and there were lots of very flat textures and I spotted a few engine culling issues in there too.
Lighting was very flat too. If this is the PC version, then they were aiming very low.
Graphics aside, it could still be worth a play if the game mechanics are solid and it has a gripping narritive to drive you. Unfortunately the trailer doesnt really show off gameplay systems or the narritive pull, so the jury will be out on that till we know more.
I wish them luck, but ill need a lot more convincing than this, sadly.
P. S. Love that you guys are talking about Raji. Its a sweet little game that plays good, and has a lovely aesthetic. Its lovely to explore and experience a culture we dont get to see so often!
Considering that this is from Playstation talents, not surprised that the game looks janky. Still, looks way better then when it was initially announced, which looked terrible imo, so I commend the devs for trying to improve.
@Titntin I'm personally not surprised sincr this is from Playstation Talents. A lot of games that came from that initiative ranged from okay to...not so good. It's not a lot like China Hero Project which tries to focus on quality over quantity (for the most part...cough in nightmare cough). Pretty sure only 2 or 3 from PS talents even managed to get a score higher than 70%. I still remember trying out Waves Out and Ion Driver, both which were from Playstation Talents, and while they were better than I initially thought, they're still at the end of the day forgettable bargain bin games that you would find easily on a sale. Not to mention they're pretty buggy too.
Still, here's to the devs improving in their next game.
Meanwhile I'm just sitting here waiting for that Black Myth Wukong game....
@SoulsBourne128 Thanks for that info friend. Im afraid ive not really been aware of them in the past, so thats really useful, thank you!
Its easy to say when you dont need to finance it, but I do wish some of these schemes offered some type of mentoring! An expeirienced dev or producer visiting once a month to provide focus, outside perspective and experience could help these teams to produce better content and flourish.
Sony are actually pretty good at offering support between their internal studios, Id love to this extended to these type of projects too...
No mention of monkey hero or enslaved:odyssey to the west to compare it to 🤔🤔
