Persona 4 Arena Ultimax was ported to PS4 back in March, but it's only just received its promised rollback netcode update. Official confirmation came from Atlus at Evo 2022, which is ongoing this weekend. You'll have to download a new update in order to make use of the much improved netcode.
It's safe to say many fighting game fans didn't really bother with Persona 4 Arena Ultimax's revival earlier in the year — most were waiting for this update to drop. But now that it's here, we can see the game's popularity spiking for the first time in years. Hopefully it's been worth the wait!

I think I should get back into the game.
I tried to get into it but I don't know. I was pretty bad at it even just offline. I imagine I'd get absolutely destroyed online. Maybe if I get tired of MultiVersus at some point.
This is a super fun game. If it's ever cheap I'd buy it again to mess around with.
What is rollback net code? 🤷
@Bagwag82 At netcode method that allows your online experience to be more stable against opponents to aren't that close to you.
Basically a better online experience.
@Bagwag82 Traditionally fighting games would introduce a delay to inputs to make sure they're properly synced between the 2 players online. The worse the connection, the bigger the delay, meaning the game would feel much less responsive.
Without going into much detail, rollback allows to sync inputs without adding delay, which makes it feel almost as if you're playing offline. The are some drawbacks but most agree it's a much better experience in games that often require very precise timing.
It's been a thing in fighting games for a good while but only now it's becoming the standard, which is great.
Better late then never. Should honestly have been there from the get-go with the re-release though.
I'll get around to playing this after I've beaten Persona 4 Golden, so happy it's finally coming to PS4 in USA.
Now we just need proper remakes of Persona 1 & 2...also still want remakes of Persona 3 & 4 also though, ports/remasters aren't enough for me!!!
