It looks like 2K is the latest company to fall prey to digital bad actors, with an unauthorised third party gaining access to the publisher's customer support and help desk platforms. The company swiftly put out a statement, which you can read in full below.
2K has warned users against opening emails or clicking on links sent from 2K Support, as the intruders have already sent legitimate-looking communications that contained malicious links. The 2K support website has been taken offline and will remain so while the company works to address the intrusion.
The Bioshock and Borderlands publisher is the latest in a string of high-profile intrusions that have rocked the industry in recent days. GTA 6 developer Rockstar Games (which shares the same parent company as 2K, that of Take-Two Interactive) suffered a catastrophic leak which resulted in the release of about 90 gameplay videos, a situation which the FBI is apparently investigating. Mere hours later, Blizzard suffered a similar situation, in which gameplay of the upcoming Diablo 4 was leaked from an internal beta.
Are we seeing the first salvo in a Skynet-esque cyber war? Why is the video game industry suddenly leakier than an old sieve? Ponder this dark future in the comments section below.

I don't like any of this one bit. So many developers will end up getting their games leaked before it's ready and it is going to be devastating. This kind of event is unprecedented.
Is an old sieve leaker than a new one?
I don't care these leaks, because that games are still years away.
Anyway, producers used to internet too much. And developing suddenly takes years instead of months. People are just curious...
I'm at a bit of a dilema here. On one hand it sucks for the devs to have their hard graft hijacked and put on display for everybody to judge before they are ready but on the other hand 2k are exploiting everybody by over pricing games then loading them up with all the mt's. I'm buying pga2k23 because i love golf and i really like the devs but 2k can kiss my ass if they think they are getting anything else other than the admission fee out of me..
@riceNpea * leakier
Whilst leaks of game assets are not exactly world ending, it points to the greater malaise of companies not taking security seriously, and in many cases, not even closing well known exploits and security flaws.
It staggering that multi million pound companies don't have the very best security available and its simply because they don't want to invest in security, as the decision makers are willfully ignorant of the threat.
@kyleforrester87 tanks
Might actually hear something about the new bioshock then 🤞🏻
@Titntin the average user is careless and will give away their credentials if you ask nicely. I work in IT and I've seen users write down their passwords on notepads, post-its, etc.
Honestly, who gives a crap about these companies pumping out mediocre games or doing shady/ greedy practices.
Good for them. I hope Ubisoft and Activision are next. Good riddance
@PegasusActual93
No, it's not. It is not going to be "devastating". Everyone's gonna forget and their games are gonna come out as normal, it's gonna be mediocre and everyone's gonna buy it anyway and they'll run away with your money.
As always.
Stop victimising huge corporations JFC
@BoldAndBrash
I'm talking the developers. Having your hard work revealed long before its ready and then getting harassed by morons who think somehow thats the finished product is devastating to your psyche but okay keep being cynical and ignorant because everyone in a corporation is bad apparently. You are everything wrong with modern gamers.
@BoldAndBrash there is a difference between a developer being victims and the huge money sucking corporations that employ the developers being victims..the devs are hard working joes or joannes like the rest of us and the owners of coroprations are usually rich and greedy that have forgotten what its like to actually worry about your income..hard to feel sorry for them but i have to feel bad for the devs..must really suck to have your work plastered all over the tinternet before its ready and then get harrassed over it..you are all heart chum..
