A Plague Tale: Requiem will continue the cursed tale of Hugo and Amicia, and the next leg of their fraught journey of discovery promises to be a substantial one, almost half again as long as A Plague Tale: Innocence. We learn a little more about what is at stake in a new, rat-filled story trailer.
The de Rune siblings set out to find a mysterious island in an attempt to curb the terrible blood-curse that flows through Hugo's veins. It will be a dangerous journey, taking them far from the shores of France, and they will need to rely upon the help of strangers if they are to stand any chance of success at all. Saving Hugo will mean saving the world, but Amicia will need to delve into the very darkness that threatens to consume them all if there is to be any hope of success.

The first game was a looker but this looks absolutely gorgeous! Really looking forward to this.
Loved the first game. Was a huge surprise. Looking forward to play this.
if its more stealth then no thanks.
I thoroughly enjoyed the first game, but my least favorite part was Hugo — both his storyline regarding the supernatural curse and also his voice acting. So although I’m excited to see what Asobo has cooked up to expand on the original, I’m slightly skeptical of the direction this is going narratively. I hate to be a downer on the hype, but just checking expectations.
I want to have a gripping The Last of Us-style companion stealth and action adventure involving plague infected hordes of rats, but I’m not sure I want to have the uncanny and outlandish that this might be going for. I’m still excited, just more likely to wait for reviews before really considering it a day 1 purchase.
@Th3solution I get it to an extent, as I hated Atreus in God of War, but I could tolerate Hugo better. Yes, they made him borderline annoying a couple of times, but in the end you kind of had to expect his part of the story to be a focal point again. Other than survival, that's the whole reason Amicia is on this journey.
@KilloWertz Lol, I actually didn’t mind Atreus except that one weird section where he gets all angsty and has a complete shift in demeanor for a while.
As for this game, I love the idea of alternate history and especially a time frame of the Hundred Years’ War which is not really visited often in entertainment media. I’d be more interested in exploring the actual events and being more rooted in the reality of a plague-ridden world, but that’s just a personal preference. The supernatural events of the first game are fine; it is a video game at the end of the day, not a documentary. But maybe if Hugo’s performance resonated better with me then I’d be less critical. 😄
Awesome game! I was not expecting to enjoy it as much as I did!
Let's hope it gets the success it deserves
First was excellent… but let’s just hope there’s not cart cover levels in this one!
Really looking forward to playing this day 1
Excited!.
Story, characters, acting, world and visually stunning. The first one checked all the boxes for me.
this is probably the game im most looking forward to this year
@Th3solution If you mean after Atreus finds out he's a god and then eventually basically betrays Kratos, that was when I almost shut the game off and dropped it. He aggravated me that much, especially then.
Hugo only really bothered me when he kept wanting his mother back. Kept whining about it. I get that he's young and all, but it was still a bit annoying. Like I said earlier though, I would have still taken him over Atreus. I'm just hoping they don't go ridiculous with Amicia, meaning they give hints that there's something wrong with her a couple of times in the trailer. I hope it's nothing really. That'd be overkill in what is already shaping up to be a depressing story in the end.
@KilloWertz I liked Amicia’s character. I thought she portrayed the “young teenager being thrown into adult responsibilities by devastating circumstances” really well. There’s a real effective vulnerability that you feel while playing as her, with limited strength and weapons, yet having to protect and constantly comfort Hugo. There were some sweet interactions between them, but yeah — mostly Hugo was too whiney.
One of the games I'm looking most forward to next month.
Story trailer was really good, and @Athrum will be pleased to know they chose an excellent replacement for Lucas' voice actor.
