Assassin's Creed Origins first released five years ago today on PS5 (that's the 27th October, at the time of writing). Ubisoft's open world adventure is credited with changing the franchise's fortunes for the better, following on from a string of underwhelming instalments. Origins essentially reinvented the series, paving the way for Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Assassin's Creed Valhalla — the latter being the most commercially successful game in the property's history.
Just a few months ago, Origins received an update which allows it to run at 60 frames-per-second on PS5 via backwards compatibility. It's well worth even a quick return, as we think Bayek's Egyptian escapades still hold up especially well.
Do you have fond memories if Assassin's Creed Origins? Does it feel like it's been five whole years since it first released? Wonder whether Siwa knows peace in the comments section below.

Nice. Origins brought me back to the series (I left at BlackFlag) and Kass would later make me a Day 1 fan again.
Love Origins (ISU armor was amazing) and the last 3 AC in general. Cant wait for more.
Also the bang for the dollar Ubi gives with AC is simply insane.

Origins is the only one of the "Ancient" trilogy that is not excessively long and consequently boring.
I'm glad they're taking a different direction with the new game because it never seemed like they improved much the formula, just added more of the same to it.
I loved Origins, but it was also too much, and I haven't played an AC since, despite playing every game before then.
I’m actually a bit surprised it is only five years old. I thought it came out ages ago. That said, it’s a great game.
I just recently played through this for the first time. It was an excellent reintroduction to the series for me. I personally felt the gameplay and mission structure stretched pretty thin by the last quarter and I was never able to fully invest in the greater assassins/templars/Abstergo stuff but Ubisoft have crafted a beautifully realized and memorable journey through Ptolemaic Egypt fronted by a pretty great leading duo.
Great game that made me fall in love with the series all over again.
@themightyant the other two are good games as well but its even more of a drag. Its actually so strange that Ubi have poured out so much content, time and effort into the trilogy but its just not a great experience for many. Its tooooo much. Overwhelming.
@Jimmer-jammer I often find myself redownloading it to just experience Egypt again. It is such a breathtaking world, same as Greece.
Spectacular game. Finally played and platinumed it when the PS5 patch released. Was my first AC game and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Hopefully the next one is similar length or shorter unlike the last 2 apparently
The last game in this series I somewhat liked.
@theMEGAniggle yeah, my favourite part of the experience was just existing in this ancient world that has mostly been left to my imagination. I’m hoping to start Odyssey sometime next year!
I remember my excitement was through the roof going in. I loved Unity and Syndicate but was excited to see them taking their time with the next one. Ultimately Origins was just okay to me, but I did really like Bayek as a character and Egypt was an awesome setting at least.
Every session I have given to AC Origins brought on my mind "Look how they massacred my baby".
I'll be playing Origins for the first time soon... After Ragnarok and the Ezio Collection.
My favorite AC. Ancient Egypt is still one of the best looking open worlds
rather celebrate the anniversary of black flag instead , the last real ac game
Great game and great setting. I loved it.
Beautiful looking game but sadly, for me at least, this is the entry into the series that broke it for me. To be clear, its not the games fault. I lost interest due to other things but forced myself to keep going through to the end. By the time it was done i was bored to tears of it and still cant bring myself to play another one.
Origins is my first Assassin's Creed game that I've finished! It is amazing! I loved every bit of it!
After that I finished Oddysey and REALLY liked it as well.
Valhalla is the one that I stopped playing after 10 hours. Maybe I will return to it someday, but it is quite boring compared to the other 2.
Very good game but I enjoyed Odyssey and Valhalla so much more.
"Assassin's Creed Origins first released five years ago today on PS5."
While many people still can't get one, you guys apparently already had a PS5 back in 2017, lucky lads! lol
I loved and platinum’d Odyssey, enjoyed the English setting of and platinum’d Valhalla - before I played Origins (don’t ask).
It was so refreshing to play a game more compact and direct than the other two tbh. A straight line story, smaller skill tree, fewer distractions… loved it. And yes, platinum.
I just started playing earlier this month for the first time. I really enjoy the game. Some of the side missions are redundant but it's a good game. Solid 7.75ish/10
5 years ago on ps5.you mean ps4.🤔.anyways assassins creed origins is a good game.it looks really good. On my ps4 pro.word up son
After Assassins Creed 3, this is my favorite AC game. I still play it from time to time.
Vice city is 20yrs old today. explains why its on plus
Sony: About time for a remake, then.
An excellent game. A little weak on the story for me, but everything else was really cool.
It doesn't have as much replay value as Odyssey but I still remember the hype when it came out. A great step for the series.
Was the last one I played in the series. I loved it but I couldn't really play odissey and valhalla I was already burned out by then, the last 2 were too long.
