Last month, at the Tokyo Game Show, industry icon Hideo Kojima posted a silhouette of what snoops discovered to be Elle Fanning. The image was overlaid with the phrase: “Who am I?” This was lettermarked with a bridge icon, leading some to believe the image could be a teaser for the rumoured Death Stranding 2, which is apparently codenamed Ocean.
Writing on Twitter today, the auteur has followed up his previous comments with another equally cryptic clue: “The answer to ‘WHO’ at TGS will be in the next ‘WHERE’.” Obviously, this riddle reads like little more than nonsense right now, but we’re assuming it means more information will be announced at the next major industry event, like The Game Awards in December.
Of course, Kojima Productions has multiple projects in the works, so there’s no guarantee this is even related to any upcoming PlayStation games – he’s also collaborating with Xbox, as announced at E3, for example. We’re not a big fan of the industry’s cloak-and-daggers approach to teasing upcoming projects, but we appreciate this is Kojima’s modus operandi – let’s just hope this doesn’t drag on, eh?

Silent hill lol
The question to “WHO” will not be answered “WHEN” the first trailer drops because we remember “HOW” confused we were at the Death Stranding trailer and this will likely be the same. And I’m equally confused as to “WHERE” this tweet is leading.
another pointless tweet... just like that last one he did
Where am I? Is this real?
They didn't have boats in Death Stranding so maybe that's why it's codenamed Ocean. We are sailing across the ocean to connect America to the rest of the world?
All I know is I got through Death Stranding 1. I don't think I could do another even if I wanted to but go get 'em Kojima! Hopefully one of his other projects will appeal to me more.
Whoever made this is legendary:
is it Beanie Man, i wonder?
Bonnie McFarlane: You do so love to talk in riddles, Mr. Kojima. Do you do that, I wonder as a substitute for having anything interesting to say...
Honestly this man can do a game about a futuristic plumber in space and I'd still end up enjoying it
This man can't go 5 minutes without teasing something
Oh bore off mate
Part of my still hopes it all comes back to Abandoned.
Kojima Klassic.
Wrong choice of fanning! Team Dakota 4life
Jackie friggin Chan!
I know I shouldn't get too over-hyped, but man I really hope it is Death Stranding 2.
I mean that or he has dementia or something?
More than likely The Game Awards since every Geoff Keighley thing has to feature Kojima in some way, shape, or form.
I’m in the excited camp. I don’t get the negativity; he’s one of the few, if not the only person coming up with original ideas for things these days. Everyone’s complaining about the influx of remakes and movie reboots and here this guy is not only creating original content but also very good at it, giving it his all: quality and convincing mo-cap, star-studded cast, remarkable voice acting.
’WHAT’ do you all want?!
That’s Elle Fanning
@stvevan
Pointless Tweet......PT!!!!
PT is coming back... he's doing PT after all!!! Quick, someone tell the Internet!
@ChromaticDracula I'm with you. DS was one of my favorite games in 2019, and recently I toyed with revisiting the Director's Cut as well. It was refreshing to experience something different and why people are so sour on him is beyond me. As my Art History professor always said, "if you don't like that art you see, go make it yourself."
@stvevan Which has led to a news story on Push Square and no doubt various other gaming websites, and therefore free publicity, so probably not entirely pointless then?
@ErrantRob haha I love that... words to live by.
Played through Death Stranding. It was...fine. Apart from the interminable cutscenes and dialogue. MGS had nothing on it.
Death Stranding 2, though? Who wants this? Who has the time?
"Who am I?" Is one of my favourite Jackie Chan movies.
I found DS agonisingly pretentious, which is no great surprise really given this kind of insufferable attention seeking. Is it only me who finds this to be a bit like a teenager writing poetry with a newfound fixation on existentialism?
I can’t believe how negative the PushSquare community seems to be on Kojima.
Whatever this is, it’s my most anticipated title. Above Final Fantasy, above Zelda, above everything. Kojima is a genius. Death Stranding is my favorite game of all time and I only expect Kojima to continue to make interesting projects than provoke thought and feeling. Keep it coming!
@ChromaticDracula Kojima just comes off as super pretentious, which makes him easy to criticize.
That aside - I was super surprised by death stranding. It definitely took some time to get used to, but I'm amazed at how Kojima gamified (what seems to be) one big social experiment where he dupes people into building in-game infrastructure as gamers salivate in anticipation for player "likes". It sounds ridiculous at first - but when you actually put some hours in; you'll find no other game like it. And that's a good thing.
With that said, he could definitely tone down on the Hollywood pretentiousness.
This better not be a leadup to his Xbox game...
Why is everything so secret about this guy? I do not care about a freaking podcast and I'm still waiting for him to release a game that actually lives up to all the praise people are giving.
