Sony is strengthening its Chinese game publishing efforts, and it’s picked up the rights to publish co-op shooter Convallaria worldwide. Scheduled to release on both PS5 and PS4, this one reminds us a little bit of Lost Planet – albeit without the snow. According to PlayStation’s official description, the title blends “PVP and PVE”, as “players travel through a unique world in which science fiction and fantasy intertwine”. It actually looks very beautiful in the gameplay trailer above.
The blurb continues: “Players will be able to work together to take down large bosses as they leverage a diverse collection of weapons, and combat styles. For the more combative player, they’ll be able to go head to head in with up 100 fellow combatants as they seek to compete missions and secure resources in an openly hostile game world.” So, structurally it sounds a little bit like EXOPRIMAL, with its uneasy alliances.
The game’s being developed by a team called Loong Force, and it’s thankful for Sony’s support: “During the past few years of development, we have faced many challenges, but with funding from, and the help of Sony Interactive Entertainment and our partners, the team has overcome many difficulties,” lead Xu Min said. “We are looking forward to the opportunity of sharing more news on Convallaria very soon.”
Is this one on your radar at all?

That China Hero Project is really starting to bear fruit.
This looks interesting too. Kind of reminds me of what Anthem was trying to do.
Sony should fund some games in south America and other countries too.
@theGoodChap No I think it's fair, I'd say the gameplay looks a little flat here. Art is nice, though, and there's potential.
I’m sorry to sound like a fanboy but Sony knows talent better than any other console maker.
I think Sony solve the lack of Japanese/Asian exclusive games problem without buying a Publisher.
Sony should or should of do that for black myth wu kong.word up son
Agreed, @4kgk2, but you could argue that if you lock down a Developers third-party games as a console exclusive, it amounts to much the same thing as buying the Developer. It's just a cheaper option that allows you to pick and choose which content you wish to have as exclusive. The net result is basically the same; when you obtain exclusive rights, you lock out gamers on other platforms from the content. To some extent, you could argue the way Sony is doing it is smarter, as they get the wheat, but not the chaff...
I like the idea. Reminds me sort of what Scavengers was trying to do. Hopefully it plays better. Certainly like the art style. I'm tired of everything needing to look photo realistic. Give me something stylized like this any day.
This looks like an ambitious game, hopefully they can pull it off. I believe I played exactly one China Hero Project game so far but it was a really good one (F.I.S.T.) so I'm keeping an eye out for more.
I was getting a "Destiny" vibe with boss fights and the weapon customization. Sony is smart to lock this game down. Sony has a very strong and excellent relationship with Chinese developers and gamers.
Cheers!!!
@Shepherd_Tallon yeah that's what I was thinking as well....it definitely reminds me of Anthem with the whole jetpack and flying around with guns with your pack. Looks awesome and looks better than Anthem. Unfortunately I don't have a PS5. I have a Series X. Might get a PC in the future though, so hopefully this comes to PC in the future.
@4kgk2 Japan has faded significantly in gaming terms. Once, the leaders..
China is coming through and has bags of talent and this can only be good news for gamers wanted a more cultural and unique game(s).
Unfortunately, I hate all online MP games so not one for me.
@CloudyDream I think you'll be okay regarding a PC release.
The game was already in development and Sony have just gotten the publishing rights recently. A PC version is probably either planned or already in development alongside the PS version.
That's just speculation of course, but I'd say it's a safe bet.
Looks like something I would’ve played on the Dreamcast.
Well it looks interesting but first descendant looks a lot better and its free to play..i'll save my pennies and wait..
I'll need to see more gameplay and a legit release date before I can get excited.
