Early Black Friday sales have caused multiple games from PlayStation Studios across PS5 and PS4 to re-enter the UK's physical sales charts. The Last of Us: Part II jumped up to 18th following offers that brought its price below £10, and then Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales enjoyed a 292 per cent sales spike to take it to 26th. Gran Turismo 7 was similar in 30th, and then The Last of Us: Part I shot up to 38th.
With the juggernaut that is the Pokémon series releasing two new entries last week, though, God of War Ragnarok was always going to struggle to hold on to the top spot. It actually slips to fourth as Pokémon Violet and Pokémon Scarlet are listed separately, and then FIFA 23 sold better in third. Pokémon has now recorded the biggest physical launch of the year in the UK. God of War Ragnarok's sales dropped by 73 per cent compared to its opening week, which is standard procedure for new releases.
The rest of the top 10 essentially sees everyone else make room for Pokémon, which trends on social media for its absurd glitches and bugs instead of gameplay or story. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 slips to fifth, Horizon Forbidden West retains seventh, and Sonic Frontiers falls to tenth.
Here's the latest top 10 in full.
UK Sales Charts: Week Ending 20th November 2022
- Pokémon Violet
- Pokémon Scarlet
- FIFA 23
- God of War Ragnarok
- Call of Duty: Moden Warfare 2
- Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: Dual Pack
- Horizon Forbidden West
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- Nintendo Switch Sports
- Sonic Frontiers

There are many things that came out of my country that I am proud from. Pokemon is not 1 of them.
I couldn't resist LoU Part 1 (gggrrrr) and The Quarry.
I picked up Sifu and the Quarry, but ill only be playinng Ragnorak for the foreseeable . Cant believe it slips below the pokemon glitchfests, but i guess that shows the power of the pokemon brand (and size of the switch install base). Fifa isnt a surprise with the world cup kicking off though. Always gets a sales spike for big competitions.
Pokémon’s latest entry is truly fantastic. I’m really glad it’s doing well. While I think I prefer Arceus, Generation 9 is honestly one of the best generations yet, in my opinion. Game is running fine on my Switch. Some little bugs, but nothing I haven’t seen in… well… Warzone 2.0 so far.
I think the PlayStation formula is kinda getting a little stale a bit, hopefully they can get a AAA Astro Bot game out definitely will give them more variety
@Mitsui Edited my previous comment, but I’m not disappointed in its technical performance on my Switch. I came in expecting Cyberpunk level issues with the game and am feeling like online discourse has been overblown yet again, similar to Sonic Frontiers. The game hasn’t had any issues that aren’t sort of commonplace with giant games on the Switch console. Could Game Freak have optimized it better? Yes. Was it worth pushing the game back to a packed fiscal Q1 2023? No. Within a few weeks, Pokemon will be a huge financial boon and patched up perfectly well. I would argue that my copy of Violet has thus far ran better than Arceus at launch.
Already had the physical version of TLOU part I. Couldn’t resist to get part 2 for 10$ even if it’s for PS4
It's is really quite impressive how powerful the brand of Pokémon is. Mass Effect releases a bug heavy Andromeda (though I liked Andromeda but that's beside the point) and the franchise almost died because of it.
Pokémon releases a apparently (I haven't played it so I can't verify) bug heavy Scarlet/Violet and it literally doesn't matter to that fanbase. I stopped playing Pokémon a long time ago but it can't be denied that it is a very well oiled machine.
I had to get the wife Scarlet, she's obsessed with it. She did ask me why it looked slow at times, so even she is noticing the problems, but she doesn't care at all
Outstanding Horizon Forbidden West is going to sell for years!
for anyone not bought sonic.
ps5 version is 30 in tesco
This Pokémon games, they had such not good reviews and full of bugs.
And yet the drones keep buying them.
They could release a Pokémon Turd Game and the drones would by it.
@Dezzy70 in fairness, we’re not factoring the amount of young children who play Pokémon for whom reviews and quality assurance don’t really come into it
The Last of Us Part II is a steal at $10, but... I just keep skipping on buying that game because I fully expect a PS5 "director's cut" version and I don't expect Sony to do an upgrade path or treat PS4 games with upgrades like they are native PS5 games for backwards compatibility in the future.
@DiggleDog
That’s very true, amazing the amount of years that the sort of Pokémon craze has been alive and kicking.
@somnambulance yeah dude im the same been running fine on my switch a little lag every now and again but what game isnt ***** these days
Hahaha the power of poke uv gotta love it
@Dezzy70 u mean the same as fifa and cod half broken games but yet everyone buys them 🤣👍
@SlySnake0407
Maybe you are right. I'm just expecting a PS5 version of The Last of Us Part II that will in some way be better than the PS4 version with the patch. Now that there is a PS5 version of part one, it makes me think the second part will come, so both will be native on PS5.
@Dezzy70 same with many other first party Nintendo games.
@PlayStation_Dawg1994 I’d love an Astrobot follow up game too, although I’m not quite feeling ‘stale’ yet on the Sony content. I wonder, do Nintendo fans think Pokémon and the other first party stuff is ‘stale’? Apparently not? I’ve not played them but on the outside I’m surprised at how many of these games they churn out and they still sell. 😅
@Kyevo8814 I was really surprised with how WELL it ran. I was expecting it to be broken. I mean, seriously, so many people praised MW2’s visuals, for instance, and I’d say that I’ve had more issues with MW2 running than Pokemon.
@TheCollector316 I was thinking maybe they include LoU2 native PS5 version bundled with Factions 2, but then when they sold Part 1 for full price I knew that’s now unlikely. For what it’s worth, TLoU2 on PS5 does play at 60fps and is still an absolute looker. Even the PS4 version is more graphically detailed than most native PS5 games, to he honest.
@naruball
Yes it does seem that way compared to the original sort of first year launch line up.
Which was very good for me, Switch wise.
They definitely gone down hill of late.
Anyway who cares to busy with GOWR.
@somnambulance I have not played it but hopped on Twitch to see how it was playing for multiple streamers and was surprised it seemed to be playing smooth enough in those streams. I’m sure there are some memory management bugs that induce occasional slowdowns, but I am sure they will be quickly patched.
I’ll still hold back on the game till I see a sale, it might hit $45 within the first 6 months and i never been a day-one pokemon player. I just got Arceus.
@Kyevo8814
Probably but I don’t buy or play them.
Far to busy with GOWR.
@TheArt my favorite game of the year
@Tharsman If you enjoy Arceus, you’ll be in the right place with Violet.
Not surprised to see Horizon up there as it was basically free with a controller last week
No one is stopping the mighty nintendo on software sales.
@Korgon
Yeah Scarlett and Violet run like pure crap. Ign did a really good performance review on it. It's sad to see people trying to defend the performance. It's having just as many issues as cyberpunk had at launch. People are posting pics and videos of crazy glitches. It's Pokémon so the fanboys give it a pass. I'll continue playing the sublime God of War Ragnarok. I also will be stocking up on PS5 games this Black Friday. Just imagine if GoWR ran that bad at release.
I got TLOU 2, Outer Worlds, and Mafia Definitive Edition all on the cheap, renewed PS Essential at 25% off, and then splashed out on Mount and Blade, so unless there's some huge bargains, I'm good till 2023, hopefully:)
It's so great to see Nintendo dominating the UK charts these days, after them struggling in the Wii U era, i haven't started Violet yet as i've been finishing Kirby and the Forgotten Land, which is absolutely phenomenal and a reminder that Nintendo really make the best games in the business, no-one else comes close.
@carlos82 I imagine 'Horizon Forbidden West' will continue to sell, and appear in the charts, until its replaced by another game as the main PS5 bundle.
I'm sure it would have sold decent numbers without the bundle, but it probably would have been in the chart for a couple of weeks at most. I'd be interested to see it's total sales figures across PS4 & PS5.
Sales are so bad 2 year old games still £35 amazon is always better
@Mitsui Did you yourself play it? I’ve beaten and logged 40+ hours and it performed just fine. Most people I know that have played it have said it plays well too… outside the people I know that are illegally emulating it on Steamdeck and PC, where it does legitimately run like junk. That’s console karma though.
Anyway, it ran better than HFW and Plague Tale Requiem for me, personally. Never had a hard crash, where I got four of them on my playthrough of HFW. Plague Tale Requiem was loaded with jank (and most of it’s the same as the stuff people say about Pokémon SV) and it’s still critically praised. Man, there was this time I was playing Requiem and Hugo’s head rolled off his body while running down a hallway. Didn’t have that in Pokémon. Lol.
@Mitsui It’s not running badly for all people. Based on what I’ve seen, it seems like people online have experiences all over the place whereas everyone I know personally hasn’t had issues with its performance.
HFW ran a little janky for me, but nothing that bothered me too badly. I’m critical of HFW, personally, but that’s mostly from the story and side characters than the performance. I also don’t mind a bit of jank in games. Skyrim was a GoTY for me, beating the flawlessly performing Portal 2 (though, man, that might’ve been the most I’ve ever deliberated over a GotY). I remember having that feeling of trepidation from the load screen on Diablo 3. Lol. Good games, even with jank, but they play better now. I’m confident SV will be viewed fondly in a couple years.
