Competitive Elden Ring players may want to sharpen their swords, as a free update incoming on 7th December will open the gates to the colosseums of Limgrave, Leyndell, and Caelid. This new PvP-themed content will allow you to battle in duels, free-for-alls, and even team skirmishes, putting your chops in combat to the ultimate test. And you thought Malenia was tough β try taking on the type of person whoβs already poured 5,000 hours into the title!
While this does look like good fun, itβs perhaps important to underline itβs not the seismic expansion fans have been hoping for. That will likely follow, of course, but for now these arenas should give you an excuse to return to the Lands Between. Do you reckon youβve got what it takes to rule the colosseum?

Do I have what it takes?
I mean, people have been finishing this game with like bongos, while blindfolded, and taking no hits.
So no, I probably don't.
I absolutely love Elden Ring, but I won't be touching this with a barge pole! I'm already fully aware that I managed to complete the game by over-levelling and spamming summons!
Its funny. You put 100+ hours in to this fantastic game to finally craft a character that can get to the final handful of bosses (which of course you have to summon help for)....... to then find some 12 year old from Plymouth can woop you dead in 3 seconds the minute you go online.
I'd like to see that girl with the dance pad take on the chap with the bongo drums.
Battle of Stoicism lives on! I wonder if this will actually draw in players unlike the arenas in Dark Souls 1-3...
@Futureshark A battle for the ages!
@Futureshark craziest dude I've seen was the one playing Bloodborne, beating NG+7 bosses with the dance mat, blindfolded without getting hit. Don't think those videos are still online though, at least not on YouTube.
Cool to finally see some sort of update for the game, even if its minor. But can't imagine this being to much fun with random players due to lag. (no more lag-stabs please...) But hey, new stuff is always appreciated.
Interesting. Now that this has been revealed I'm no longer so sure about an extensive paid expansion, since my biggest foothold for believing "something" was coming was, indeed, the unused battle arenas around the map.
I love Elden Ring but I have no intention of competing with other maidenless tarnished. π
@GuttyYZ haha well said⦠right there with ya
@GuttyYZ lol the DK bongos strike again!
@PapaGlitch facts ! This is me all the way! Iβm good.
Not my thing, the online segments have been turned off still after just short of 300 hours which I have nearly completed I think π but some possible dlc like they did with dark souls 2 I'd have a go at, I have a feeling they will announce a remaster for Bloodborne for PS5/PC at the game awards.
Don't think I ever beat the final boss - doid make it to his flying whale-elephant phase - or Malenia, even w/ summoning 2 people to try and help me w/ each, so I'm good.
I think I had over 300 hours in the game in PS5, spamming that 90 comet sorcery spell at the end. π
@rjejr chasing the dumb Elden Beast around put me off a second play through. Had to cheese it with insect needles or whatnot, canβt recall the name rn
If someone has played 5,000 hours of Elden Ring, they would have played 208 days out of the past 284 days (without sleep) since the game released.
Sorry, just had to do the math.
Damn shame this is multiplayer content, hoping we still get a proper story DLC later.
@rjejr Wonder if I must have seen you at some point online. I did 340 hours between a normal run, a lot of helping out with latter bosses in co-op, and an NG+/plat run. Malenia was brutal even highly leveled, and I only won cause I was finally able to summon an insanely good player to help me.
@Dusk_Actual @rjejr Actually loved that battle, once I got it down. Same with Hoarah Loux and Maliketh.
@dschons I can't imagine that's legit, but I've been wrong before.
@doctommaso @Dusk_Actual I did summon a lot of people to help I think it took about 50 tries to beat the big horse riding guy blocking the way into the castle. I only did the final boss and Malania a couple of times before giving up. I watched my kid, who's really good at this type of stuff, plays everything on hard mode, and even they couldn't beat Melania alone, finally called in help.
Most of the other bosses I fought and beat in a try or 2 watching someone way better than me do most of the work. π
I tried offering my help once or twice but quickly realized I wasn't any, even as a decoy I died too fast. π The only people I ever summoned in to fight where the required house of the serpent storyline, pretty sure those were all AI, not real, beat those myself, but I was pretty way over leveled by that point.
So basically I played the whole game as Robin, if you were my Batman on any of those boss fights, thanks. π
Just went back over my Twitter feed, fun game.

@rjejr It would be cool if we did fight at least one battle together! Neat Twitter feed; you preserved a lot of great moments.
@doctommaso I liked the lore behind those bosses more than the fights but theyβre still really good fights.
@Dusk_Actual I should check out some more lore at some point
@doctommaso Funny story: not paying too much attention to all of my Pushsquare emails - my family makes fun of how many PS and Nintendo Life emails I get π - and I confused you and someone w/ a similar name from the bottom of this thread and I was like - What the heck is going on w/ this guy!?!? Thought you had split personality or something.π

I did enjoy going back over my twitter feed, realized I beat a lot of bosses near the end w/o summoning real people not b/c I was over leveled, but my mimic tear was. π
I still think it's a shame games like that don't have an easy mode, not everyone has the 150 hours it took me to level up enough to be able to play the game. Even if they just had an option to unlock mimic tear from the get go it would give more people a chance to enjoy the game. π€·ββοΈ
@rjejr Haha that's quite a mix-up! That guy calling you daft was funny; he has no clue.
Mimic tear was epic, but I never found it till my NG+ run. Helped me a bunch on my NG+ final boss fight, for sure!
As big of a Soulsborne fan as I am, I agree with you; the games would be better a bit easier, so difficulty options would be welcome. I'm not such an uber player that I don't have to spend a good bit of time leveling a bunch at least a couple times along the way, and it would feel like a waste of time were I not enjoying the gameplay so much.
