Square Enix has confirmed that the 'Pixel Remasters' of Final Fantasy I through VI are indeed coming to PS4, following the appearance of age ratings earlier in the week. All six remastered titles will arrive in spring 2023, and you'll be able to either buy them them separately or as one big bundle.
On the publisher's store, the standard physical edition, which includes all six games, costs £64.99 / $74.99. We would assume that a similar price tag will be given to the digital version on the PlayStation Store. Individually, the remasters are priced at £12.99 / $15.99 on PC — so that's probably what to expect on PS4 as well.
There'll also be a physical limited edition, which includes an art book, a vinyl record, and figurines. However, it'll only be made available through the publisher's store. This one is up for pre-order at a whopping £244.99 / $259.99.
Square Enix says that it'll have more information to share next year. It likely won't be long until we get a full release date.
Will you be dipping back into these classic Final Fantasy titles? Which one's your favourite? Count those pixels in the comments section below.

BOUT FUNKING TIME!!!!!!
Saw this, this morning. Standard edition is sold out already! Hopefully they'll restock or other stores will sell it. I'm only really interested in VI anyway so I'd only get this for my collection.
Only gonna pick these up if physical is gonna be available at regular retailers. Refuse to pay overprice on SE's own store + customs on top of it all (despite being a supposedly EU store...)
Hopefully they fix the god awful font from the pc and mobile versions.
Yay!
I think I’ll just wait for the collection to drop down into the £10 range in a couple of years from now. I already own all these, but FF6 is very tempting as maybe a one-off purchase as I wait on the collection.
I want the physical but the standard edition would have come to $160 Canuckels with tax, shipping and all that fun stuff. So crappy digital version it is, on sale.
Took a while but better late than never.
That’s an ugly box…
Played through FF1 to FF5 on the iPhone and completed 7(if remake counts) to FF15. Only FF6 missing, however I'll wait for a sale in a few years if its not available in retail.
Anyone else feels like the limited edition should've been priced around 150?
Did they even get a discount on Steam? I still think they are kinda expensive for so old ports.
Downloaded FF6 on PC. I think its better to play it on monitor or Switch (or via remote play), feels odd on tv.. People that played it on SNES or PS may get their nostalgia dose this way though
Eehh, I'm kind of interested but I'll wait for the inevitable sales. Remaster or not, 15€ for an SNES title is steep - let alone the NES games.
@IndoorEnthusiast it says the physical edition is $75
I wonder how the Trophies will work? I can't see every game in this collection having a seperate Platinum Trophy each. If they do then that's 6 Platinum Trophies for the entire collection.
I'm glad that wasn't a steelbook in the pic otherwise I'd have ignored all logic to get it. A physical copy would've been nice but its already sold out it seems and $75 at that? I don't mind having these digital
But still hyped. I'm gonna replay the whole series that's available on ps5. Can't wait
Ooo I really want to get the game physically.
Nintendo and Square must be smoking from the same stash. They both seem to think their million year old games are worth premium prices. It's bonkers.
I wanted the standard edition but it was already gone by the time I saw it. Reluctantly went for the collectors but I’ll probably sell anything in the set I’m not bothered about.
I want 3. Maybe I'll play 1 and 2 again but I really want 3.
I'll grab a disc copy to complete my FF collection
Seriously? When they can all be had for £20 I might be tempted. Do they each have their own trophy list?
@Snake_V5
I wondering that too. As they sell separately I presume they will have individual platinums. Or none I guess.
Checked FF VI on iPad cost 22 €! And Square sucks at support at mobile, it may not work in new variations of iOS in few years. Maybe i will buy it on Xbox when its on sale
Oooh I love collecting Final Fantasy stuff, I'll get the anniversary editi... HOW MUCH?
I was luckily able to nab a physical copy of this for the PS4. 2023 continues to be packed with releases. 2 Persona games and 7 Final Fantasy games (8 if Rebirth actually comes out in late 2023 which I doubt)...
This will no doubt be heavily discounted (the digital one) within the year. I’m very interested and hope each game has a separate trophy list.
Yes... sell it all back to us AGAIN. Thats the good stuff!
I am excited for this, but a word of warning for those of you who do not know: some of these games have been radically redesigned.
And... that's not automatically a bad thing. FF1 for example, which has probably seen the biggest redesign, was a poorly designed and buggy mess that I doubt many newer gamers would want to play. To give you one example, there were no Phoenix Downs in FF1. You healed at an Inn or you didn't heal period.
You FF purists who grew up with these games however probably won't appreciate some of these changes.
It's a bit odd now, that after this, the only main numbered entry you can't play on a PS5 is XIII.
@Jeaz It'll probably happen eventually, but there clearly cannot be a demand for it. Square is there to make money after all. You can bet your life that if they thought it would shift significant volume then it would be out already.
N.i.c.e. thats a lot of final fantasy games.final fantasy pixel remaster looks cool.word up son
@MickOnYourFace squares figured out how to beat the scalpers. Charge scalper prices in the first place.
I'm gonna wait for a sale for these, but it's definitely in my wishlist.
I guess the pc version is king because you can mod the fonts. I do love that collectors edition though, but the price tag!
And why make a €260 edition that isn't that great to begin with where are the simple special editions.Like a steelcase or case with a slipcase and artbook.
How is it possible that for €150 max we got a game with a nice statue? Wow so expensive and why not for sale at your local retailer.
@Jeaz Can't play FF XI on PS4/5 either.
Sucks that physical is limited and the price is steep. I guess I'll just get them individually as digital. I'm only interested in getting I, IV and VI anyway.
@thefourfoldroot1 Games released on PSN have to have trophies so if they're being also sold separately then all 6 will have trophies.
@solocapers
Yep. But they don’t need to have a plat.
@thefourfoldroot1 I hope they do have individual plats - they definitely should - but the Crystal Chronicles remaster NOT having a plat makes me a wee bit skeptical
Happy to hear this! I've never played thru the first six games before, should be a fun time.
When they go on sale for 50 to 75% off in a few years that is. I'm not paying full price.
