Santa Monica Studio has been highlighting some behind-the-scenes snippets from the production of God of War Ragnarok, which has been out for a little while now. The last of these dev diaries is here, and rather than discuss another aspect of development, the team shows its gratitude to the series' biggest fans.
It's a lovely video. It shows some heartfelt messages from numerous people behind the game, expressing how much the community means to them all. In combination with a display of fan art, cosplay, and reaction clips, it's hard to watch this without cracking a smile.
Ragnarok has attracted a very warm reception not just from the press, but also its players. The PS Blog's community-voted awards have just been and gone, and the game won every category for which it was eligible, so it's clearly had an impact.

My personal GOTY by a long shot.
Thank you for making another masterpiece.single playing games are the best.word up son
No Thank you SSM for making a superb game, So much fun I spent just under a 100 hours playing this and did a replay of 2018 right before Ragnarok released and both games back to back were simply phenomenal!
Thank you right back Santa Monica. Ragnarok is going to go down as one of my all time favorite games.
Always a joy when developers show how much the community means to them. The game is utterly fantastic.
My GOTY by a distance a masterclass in just about every area, just thankful games like this exist.
Absolutely amazing game with incredible story telling. My GOTY and then some. Arguably, one of the best I've played!
This video left me in tears today.
It's funny they said no DLCs but I think maybe they just added it to the game and just called it a night. There's an area towards end game that feels very much like a DLC would have been. Without spoiling, it's where you follow a pig/dog hybrid.
I smell GOTY, despite the major success of Elden Ring. I'm sure both will receive their dues come major award season next year.
@Quintumply Hi, is this video safe to watch if I haven't beaten the story yet?
I'm about to return to Sindri's House after rescuing some people in Vanaheim.
@KidBoruto Maybe hold off for now just to be on the safe side.
Spent more time on these dev diary posts than finishing the games story. Deliberately ignoring stuff that happened in the first game. Is like the last jedi of gow.
@KidBoruto Don't worry, the game won't even answer your questions anyways.
@Quintumply I finally beat the story, will watch the video after I 100% the entire game and get the Platinum trophy.
@AstraeaV If you're referring to the thing between Atreus and Odin, I def understand where you're coming from.
They appeared to only use it as a reason for Atreus to go to him and work together temporarily (also to introduce us to a new realm and characters).
