Studio Gobo, a UK-based team with co-development credits on Hogwarts Legacy, Redfall, and many others, is partnering with Guerrilla Games to work on future Horizon titles.
The company shared this news on social media, where it's also advertising its various open positions:
Following the launch of Horizon Forbidden West last year, Guerrilla Games has various other projects in the pipeline. Burning Shores, an expansion for Forbidden West, and Horizon Call of the Mountain, a PSVR2 launch game, will both be very nearly finished. Future works in Aloy's universe appear to include an online co-op multiplayer title, some sort of mobile spinoff, and possibly even an MMORPG. Presumably, it's these on which Studio Gobo will assist.
We'll have to wait a good few years before we see the fruits of Studio Gobo's labours, but for a 110-person studio to join Guerrilla, it seems Sony's plans for Horizon are pretty big.

Horizon got quite stale quickly with its sequel in my view, can’t imagine this universe has many more games behind it so odd decision to me.
Mad we will keep with this IP but not others but that’s just me!
Interesting! I am almost done with Ragnarok and I have to say that as for now I …kinda preferred Forbidden West. Both very nice games of course.
Hope they can keep the incredible graphic detail and the gameplay and find new stories to tell in this world.
Wonder if they're the ones working on the zero dawn remaster and forbidden West pc port?
@itsfoz You're not alone. I agree with you. I got all the pieces of Gaia back in H:FW and just could not be bothered to finish the game. Definitely preferred Zero Dawn; the grind in Forbidden West is just way too much.
@Constable_What Same here. I prefer HZD over FW, but even then I think HZD was pushing it towards the end. These games are humongous. So was The Witcher I guess, but that one kept me interested for the whole ride and all its DLC.
@itsfoz Give me a sequel to The Order: 1886.
Now that IP is overflowing with potential.
I agree that Horizons did get stale quickly, I didn't think it was possible but I started feeling that way about halfway through the sequel.
@itsfoz forbidden West felt to big, but the ending seemed rushed. I'm hoping for the third game to be smaller and more focused
@GreatAuk yeah it had a lot of potential.
HFW was a brilliant game and so was Zero Dawn. So I'm happy to see there will definitely be more Horizon games on the erm... Horizon.
Glad to hear they're continuing as it's my favorite current PS series, though, it seems a little disjointed in direction with the mobile game and MMORPG (?!?!) in the mix. Hopefully they don't lose focus too much, and hopefully they don't oversaturate it so it overstays it's welcome like Assassin's Creed had done for a while.
@itsfoz Same her! 2nd game mystery wasn't as interesting as the first and the gameplay didn't do much to make it feel fresh! Still good but didn't keep me interested till the end! I think both sequels of Horizon ZD and GoW 2018 had similar issues!
Hopefully the can turn things around in the 3rd game!
I was laughing my head off when the Far Zenith baddies floated down from the sky in that end sequence. Too much cheese and eye rolling dialogue in Forbidden West, I thought. A shame really because I adored Zero Dawn.
I'm already bored of the franchise so I hope either we get a new Killzone or a new ip. If they do go ahead with Horizon 3 then it better be ground breaking and not have the Assassin's Creed formula all over it's dna.
I know Horizon 2 isn’t universally hated or anything, but you don’t have to look far to hear people being critical of it.
That said, maybe the pressure is off a little for the difficult third game. Naughty Dog were always going to struggle after UC2, and UC3 was ultimately a step down.
Guerrilla obviously have a bit of head room for H3 then, hopefully they knock it out of the park. They might have their work cut out, though.
@Constable_What I think the problem with both games is that characters other than Aloy are just not interesting at all, and the structure of side-missions is tedious as most are obnoxiously long with chores in multiple locations, couple that with the story of that mission not being at all interesting and honestly you end up bored after doing a couple of them.
I got the platinum for both games but I’m still missing almost all of the side-missions as I literally can’t get into them without getting bored.
@itsfoz as a person who got the Horizon PS5 bundle I agree. I think since it's one of the rare "new IP" from Sony that they want to get more out of it.
So is this studio now a part of playstation as part of Guerrilla, or a independent support studio? Perhaps this is a good thing and will free up some of Guerrilla staff to make something else too other than horizon 🤔 I haven't played forbidden west yet but I did find the first game a little boring after a while. I think I have the dlc for the first game if I can be bothered to play it sometime lol
@GreatAuk Finally! It's good to see more people agree! Maybe Sony could hire Ready at Dawn to help create it. I'm sure if they made it a VR experience and also launched it on PC, Meta would be on board!
On a side note, I didn't know studio Gobo was a subsidiary, I fell down the Google rabbit hole. I always assumed they were an independent support studio.
@kyleforrester87 I honestly loved Uncharted 3, but it was beginning to show some strain. Even with Uncharted 4 they were looking to focus on the other characters more (Sam, Nadine) and then by Lost Legacy they had dropped Drake.
No complaints here, though. All seems very well done.
I still need to play thru Forbidden West (after doing a complete replay of Zero Dawn first).
Happy to see the Horizon verse is dying anytime soon, really enjoyed my time spent with the first game.
@itsfoz yea you're right that's just you lol.
@kyleforrester87 that's literally any game ever...I don't have to look far for people being critical of gow or especially elden ring either. it is what it is...obviously the vast majority loved it and there's an abundance of evidence everywhere.
@TurboTom you should play the dlc of zero dawn then forbidden west. they literally improved on everything and it's very interesting and high quality in comparison.
@Constable_What there is no grind. you playing wrong bro
@middyone I don't know what game you played, but that's straight up cap.
There's tons of grind, there's even missions in the game that you create called "Jobs" that are just meant to make the grind for weapons and armor easier.
Quit lying...bruh... it's fine if you like it. A lot of people do, but some people are getting tired of it. It's like Assassin's Creed I guess
@middyone
Thanks for the suggestions, yeah I will get around to playing the dlc for the first game, but i will probably save forbidden west for when I upgrade to ps5
