The embargo for some – but not all – PSVR2 content lifted today, and hopefully you’ve already had time to check out our hardware review and Horizon Call of the Mountain coverage. If not, rest assured it’s not going anywhere, so have a look at your convenience – there’s a lot of info to pour over, so put on the kettle and take your time:
We wanted to take a moment to update you on our plan moving forward. There are a ton of PSVR2 launch games – if you haven’t already, refer to our All PSVR2 Launch Games list – and that means there’s no shortage of work for us in the weeks ahead. Our goal is to review – and, in some cases, Mini Review – virtually every title that’s due out on day one, but it’s going to take some time.
Currently only one team member at Push Square has a headset, but that will change next week when PSVR2 releases. We don’t want to rush out hastily prepared, inaccurate reviews, so it’ll probably take us several weeks to get through everything. Rest assured, though, our goal is to cover as much as we possibly can.
With all this in mind, if there’s anything you’d specifically like us to prioritise, let us know in the comments section below. We obviously can’t make any promises – it’s going to depend on review code availability and embargoes – but it’d be good to know which titles you’re most interested in to help inform our plans.

While not to do with any reviews, I wouldn't mind a news article on Llamasoft's (aka Jeff Minter of Tempest fame) tweet last night saying he would like to bring Polybius to PSVR2 but is worried about people expecting a free upgrade due to how small his team is (literally two people) and that they don't make much money to begin with.
Maybe an article might bring some awareness to it?
Sounds good.
It seems like every day we hear something new that sends my hype constantly skyward.
That leak today about Project Wingman had me very giddy. If you guys find out anything more about that one I'll be well happy.
Wingman plus Horizon, RE7, GT7 and Moss is plenty for me for the rest of the year I reckon.
Looking forward to seeing what Push Square makes of it all.
Would love to hear your experiences with GT7,RE Village and maybe Synth riders as I would like to see what they've improved upon. Wish I could check these out for myself though 😔
Hi! First time joining forum! Love the site! I'd like to ask if there is a way to review motion sickness in psvr2 games, when reviewing them. I've got some vr1 games which I can't play because of motion sickness. Don't want to waste money if I can't play vr2 games. Thanks!!
@AdamNovice Didn't see that, thanks for the heads up!
@Ravagespawn A good suggestion and the answer is possibly. The only thing I'd be concerned about is it's such a subjective thing, I'm not sure we could definitively say what would cause motion sickness and what wouldn't.
We can definitely talk about the comfort options available, how intense the experience is, etc, though.
Good shout, though — something to think about! Thanks for joining!
You going to do a readership poll on prospective PS VR2 ownership? Seems like a lot of people on here are planning to get it but also a significant number aren't. If this place turns into PS VR2 Central for the next few weeks make sure you aren't scaring off the non PS VR2 fans in the process.
And please make sure "PS VR2" is in the title of each review article so we know, unlike the "Upcoming Games List" where we can't tell.

Really it shouldn't even say PS5 next to the games, it's not like PS VR2 works w/ PS4 or PS Vita, you need PS VR2 for those games, so it should be reflected by console: PS4, PS5, PS VR2. I suppose PS VR if anyone is still releasing those?🤷
Here's a good example: "2MD: VR Football Unleashed All-Star" PS5
It's a PS VR2 game, not PSVR, but there's no way to tell.
May have been able to coast not caring for PSVR, not that many games and it was the only VR game in town, but if Sony is going this hard, need to be easily able to distinguish the games list and the reviews.
Hi, I also use my PSVR to watch 3D films in all there glory- can PSVR2 do this as well?
@FunkFox I still need to test this but rest assured it's on the list.
@FunkFox
Not currently without a patch (unless they’ve had a patch and it’s embargoed).
You do get a 1080p 120hz full HDR OLED screen to view all 2D films and games on though, which is in itself an upgrade over many peoples TVs. Just FWI.
Resi 8 is a big one due to how it’s been remade for dual wielding in VR. Plus the in game trailers look ridiculously good.
I’d like if you could do a comparison with the flat screen version (not a digital foundry style pixel counting, just your impressions).
By all accounts it looks as good, if not better, than flat screen PS5 quality.
@thefourfoldroot1 This is a good idea!
@get2sammyb Another +1 for motion sickness remedies and strategies to build up tolerance etc.
I actually bought PSVR Day1 but returned it within the 14 day distance selling window for a refund as it made me feel ill.
Later I learned this was more common, but everyone and their mother had weird remedies and suggestions. Anyone credible you could speak to about that?
To be honest I have zero in interest in VR but I would still be interested in articles on hardware and software sales numbers. It seems that not many people about the device.
@themightyant I have 1000's of hours in VR, One of my son's get VR belly, It has not mattered the headset used or time. He still gets sick. One of my other boys can only play for short stretches and only then at 120Hz and that has not changed. The rest of us never had any issue unless the game chugged between vastly different frame rates. If RV made you sick before I would try before you buy. That said the PSVR 1 was a terrible headset and probably the most sick inducing headset made so there is hope.
Break it down into three categories:
1) brand new PSVR2 content eg Call of the mountain
2) VR only content ported from other platforms or upgraded from PSVR1
3) upgraded PSVR2 modes/DLC eg GT7, RE8, NMS etc
1 would require a full game and VR2 review, 2 would require an update to an existing review if done, or full review if not, and 3 needs a small update.
Do you guys have any accuracy on knowing what games actually WILL be available day 1? The actual PS Store shows only a fraction of the games on your list, and some of them are in the store, but not on the VR2 page. So it's hard to tell if they're going to just repost the whole PS page with updated lists for all the VR content, or if a lot of that won't be available day 1.
Looking forward to Dyschronia and Onogoro reviews as the two anime styled contenders, though. Plus a roundup of the many rhythm games as they're all samey yet different.
One thing I'm wondering about is... what are the chances of regular (or at least semi-regular) occurrences of PSVR2 games on PS Plus?
The consensus seems to be 'brilliant hardware but no games'. It has a larger launch lineup than almost any hardware in recent memory and what percentage of people exactly are buying 4,5,6 or more games at release after spending $549? The games will come and I for one am patient and excited. It's not like we don't all have backlogs on console already anyway. Gaming is both a blessing and a curse in the 21st century!
@TeapotBuddha Thank you!
@TJ81
Exactly. Not sure how the “no games” idea got started when the platform has the most games at release of any platform I’ve ever known. True, many are quest or PCVR ports, but for me this is great, it shows that we’ll be benefitting from the entire VR ecosystem.
@TeapotBuddha The key to getting your VR legs though is to not power through. If you start feeling nauseous at all, take a break. Come back to it later or the next day, and then go again till it bothers you. It's a whole new experience for your brain to realistically be seeing motion, visually really thinking you're moving, but not feeling motion. You just have to give your brain time to realize that's alright. If you power through and get all nauseous, then your brain starts to associate VR with being nauseous. If you do that, then you'll probably be good within a week, and some games where you're not using the analog sticks to move about, or driving or flying, you likely won't get any motion sickness at all. Things like Synth Riders, Beat Saber and the like. Do those as a break from something like Village or GT7.
Team Push Square is doing some heavy lifting with all of this VR2 coverage. Great stuff! Sony isn’t exactly making it easy on you considering the enormous amount of content available at launch.
Today was one of the only days I can remember where I was happy to see an unseemly charge go through on my credit card. Good times ahead.
@thefourfoldroot1
I’m not a VR guy (although I might become one early next year) but I fully agree. I dunno how that rumor got started.
It’s launching with like 25 games. I can’t think of any other platform that had that many on day one. And they are from a variety of genres.
The whole port aspect doesn’t matter at all. A bunch of PS5 and Series X launch games were enhanced ports. Hell go back to the Xbox 360. Half of its launch titles were enhanced ports from the OG Xbox and PS2. The PS3 lineup was dominated by Xbox 360 ports.
It’s got a good launch line up, especially considering that it is technically an accessory. It’s certainly the strongest accessory lineup ever.
If people want to see a bad enhancement launch, look at the old Sega CD or Sega 32X. The Sega CD launched with like two FMV games and the 32X launched with some appalling trash with the notable exception of Star Wars Arcade.
The obvious ones first of course. GT7, RE Village, Kayak Mirage, Moss 2.
@AdamNovice Free upgrades are nice if your a multimillion company the rest has to pay their bills.
@get2sammyb I would love it if your reviews could include a small note on the suitability for stationary/seated play; both in terms of actually sitting down (for people with disabilities) and also in terms of having limited space to move around in.
Also: Your PSVR2 coverage is stellar so far; keep up the good work
Love to see Cities Skylines reviewed if possible.
@get2sammyb I’m really interested to know how much the games make use of the new psvr2 features - especially ports / remasters. Or are they just ignored.
For example, Star Wars Tales from Galaxy Edge is one of the most expensive launch games at £40 but despite being a big star wars fan, I’m holding off as it seems from what I’ve read so far, that whilst it’s the best looking version, it’s still a fairly limited quest game.
@Hamst88 Review incoming for that one very soon.
