Fortnite’s enduring success can be attributed to Epic Games’ ability to reinvent the release every few weeks. The developer’s constantly adding new content, whether it’s gameplay mechanics or alterations to the environment – and every so often it makes some seismic changes to the flow of the game, like the recent addition of the No Build playlist.
One rumour that’s been swirling for several months pertains to the addition of a first-person mode, and data miners believe they’ve discovered evidence of its imminent arrival. Twitter account HypeX has led the rumours, but their hypothesis has been backed up by several other noteworthy leakers, including ShiinaBR and iFireMonkey.
Obviously these are reliable, well-regarded sources within the Fortnite community – but all of this remains unconfirmed until it comes directly from Epic Games’ mouth. Still, with the current season scheduled to conclude on Wednesday, 8th March, we won’t need to wait too long to find out what’s in store.

The current season has been brilliant. The timed weekly quests was a bit of a blip at the start but that decision has been reversed now thankfully. Really looking forward to the new season and to the Leon & Claire skins being added when the RE4 Remake is released later this month.
First person with no build sounds like it could be fun though I'm terrible at twitch shooters.
@ATaco it's more of a jump-up-and-down-like-a-frog-on-a-hotplate-shooter than twitch.
@BeerIsAwesome they've got some money left after bribing the EU, so why not 😁
Oh woopie doo
Fortnite? Yawn. Was gonna say it's so last year, but even that would be generous.
One step closer to Fortnite VR
@AdamNovice That'd be amazing.
Awesome! I do wonder how building will work in first person 🤔
Pretty sure it wouldn't be for me, curious if they'd make it a separate mod like no build or just let you play that way in every match?
I'm playing Destiny 2 now, thank you PS+, and platforming in 1st person is gawd awful game design. There isn't nearly as much mandatory platforming in Fortnite as in Destiny 2 but I still prefer 3d person. Though first person has it's place, like when using weapons. Probably wouldn't mind it too much going down zip lines or while driving or riding animals, but for most of my running around everywhere I'd prefer 3rd. Guess I'll see how it goes.
I do think this could be a mistake for Epic games though. Fortnite is kind of a rare 3rd person shooter w/ a bunch of 1st person shooters out there. If people think Fortnite is 1st person they may just go play CoD or Destiny instead. Though options never hurt I suppose.
@rjejr I think it will be a separate mode and zero build only. I heard they ditched the chapter 3 map early because the chapter 4 map has been designed specifically with first person mode in mind. I only really play zero build now but I am looking forward to trying first person. I’ll probably alternate between those two modes when it arrives (if I like it).
@Gamer_Guy it might not be as insanely popular as it was in those early days - though it’s still fairly popular even now. But this new chapter acted as a kind of reset of the messy narrative from the earlier chapters and it’s a better game now than it’s ever been imo. It will be interesting to see what they do with the story. There are still ties to the previous seasons but it’s pretty much a clean slate for them to work with going forward.
@ItsBritneyB_tch I’m thinking it’ll be an in-game toggle.. always will have a special spot in my heart for Fortnite.. it’s the first online game I’ve ever been able to get into (33/m).. I don’t play it often anymore but I guess I need to since I have 47 more levels to get to 100.. I like realism without realism if that makes sense.. I play a game to be in a different world.. not to imitate the one we’re in (COD)
Either way, sounds interesting enough
Now I just gotta be able to put down Hogwarts Legacy long enough to get those levels up!
FPS with no Build and I might actually give Fortnite a try
Weird decision when almost your entire revenue model is based on selling cosmetics. If you can’t see them, there’s sure to be less appeal to spending money on them.
I hate fortnite but I'd play in VR! I kinda can't see epic not doing it, Fortnite technically is supposed to exist as a tech demo for UE and there's a reason many vr games use UE.
A loud meh from me
@ItsBritneyB_tch I assumed, b/c I know nothing about Fortnite despite playing it every day for over a year, that they were cutting the season short b/c if it ended on a Wednesday people would know not to expect a big season ending cut scene event w/ a giant robot or some such that only happens on Saturday afternoons when people are off from work and school. I think the end of chapter 3 season 3 didn't have "an event" and people seemed perturbed. Though they seemed more perturbed at the very weird chapter 3 season 4 event, b/c people on the internet are always perturbed.
So that's what I think anyway, the only logical reason to cut it short by only 3 days and have it end on a Wednesday, to lower expectations for an event.
I never build, not sure I really know how after all this time, though I was forced to do it a little in those vs bed games, so weird. But I play in build b/c probably 1/4 to 1/3 of my victories is elimination the last person either while they are in the process of building or hiding in their build. So sweet. 😎 My guess is the better players are in no build so I just enjoy my time w/ the noobs. Not that I'm any good, I have like 130 wins in about 1,000 matches. I should go check that actually. It's enough to keep me playing. I would have guessed 0 wins going in b/c I suck at shooting, I'm a JRPG guy. 😁
So, if you are correct about it being a separate no build mode, won't affect me in the slightest, thanks. 👍
