Update: After last night's accidental leak, Sony has officially detailed the big PS5, PS4 1.31 update for Gran Turismo 7. All the details you see below are now confirmed, but we've also got a look at the new cars being added to the game for free.
They are the Audi RS 5 Turbo DTM ‘19, Porsche 959 ‘87, Porsche Carrera GTS (904) ‘64, and the Toyota Alphard Executive Lounge ’18. The patch will go live at 10pm PST today, or 6pm BST in the UK tomorrow morning.
Original story: Polyphony Digital appears to have accidentally posted the patch notes for this week's Gran Turismo 7 update ahead of time, revealing another exciting list of additions and features set for the racing simulator. Available on PS5 and PS4 this Thursday, VRR support is coming, allowing compatible 4K TVs to run the game at up to 120 frames-per-second. There'll also be five new cars — as was confirmed over the weekend — endurance layouts for the Nurburgring, and more events.
The patch notes then continue with another two Menus to complete and adjusted times that reflect physics changes for Missions, Licenses, and Circuit Experiences. We've even got a tease of a future update in April: 2023's Super Formula cars from Japan. A changelog for the 1.31 update can be viewed in the tweet below.
The developer has been consistently updating Gran Turismo 7 since its PS5, PS4 launch in March 2022, but ever since the PSVR2 patch dropped, the wealth of content Polyphony Digital is adding to the game only seems to increase. Don't forget you've still got a few days left to try out the racer's superhuman AI Gran Turismo Sophy, which is available as a limited-time event until the end of this month.
Upon its departure, this bumper PS5, PS4 patch will take its place. Does anything here excite you? Don your racing gloves in the comments below.

Nice! More track layouts are always welcome. I hope the new menu’s are not of the ‘just buy these 3 cars’ type. 🤞🏼
Holy…
How much do you want to deliver? Yes!
The game has some flaws but it’s insane how much they deliver. This is easily in my top 3 games ever and it was also the main reason for buying the PSVR2.
Another great update. Really enjoy it when they add more menus, will be even better this time in VR! Would like them to add some more missions though, especially the endurance races.
@Serialsid im curious if we see also some VR improvements. It’s already a fantastic experience but there are some visible pop-ins on some tracks and LOD on some cars with some rough transitions.
Curious as well if the 120 hz support will offer also benefits for VR (I know it’s not the same as 120 fps).
Sophy is time-limited?! I didn't know that, I thought it was a new feature
@NEStalgia It’ll almost certainly come back at a later date, but yeah, I’m afraid it’s only a time-limited feature.
@NEStalgia will come back later, hopefully replacing the current AI, which is absolutely stupid in it’s behavior.
I, for one, welcome our new robot overlord.
Wished we could get some more championships, maybe some manufacturer races. I loved that in GT3, I just seem to finish all the content in one sitting with these updates (but it’s still good they’re supporting it a year later), just want something a bit more meaty
@Reeneman I'm sure they will continually improve and tweek the VR in gt7, though like yourself, I think it's an amazing experience already.
Was hoping we'd get some adjustments for the HUD in VR specifically but honestly the HUD needs to be fully customizable across all cameras VR are not.
oooh, if the physics updates fix the FFB for wheels as well as controller, I'll be extremely happy!
@pukana nothing is said about wheels in the Changelog.
I don’t think that the FFB for controllers needs to be fixed but improvements are always welcome. We will see how it turns out.
Out tomorrow, not today
Pushsquare making this mistake since update Nr1
120 fps due to the video.
This will most likely also improve the VR mode heavily. Don’t think that we see 120 fps in the VR mode but everything above the current 60 are a nice improvement in VR.
@Reeneman It's out today in the US, which translates to tomorrow morning in Europe.
The Porsche 959 is an absolute legend.
@NEStalgia I will press like on literally any early Simpsons quote
There are a ton of great games on PS5, but Gran Turismo 7 is still one of my absolute favourites games on the system.
@LiamCroft ahh you’re right, shame on me
I'd rather have a complete game at once instead of fragments every now and then that make you revisit the game over and over. When will GT7 finally be complete?
@Darude84 Play GT Sport, this is already „complete“.
@AldusRavencorn exactly this is what I miss
@Reeneman yeah it’s the steering wheels that need to be fixed or brought back to the state before they needed it.
They’re changing the physics on the damper effects & suspension which affect detail on FFB so fingers crossed
Apologies if this is a silly question. How do you get the new cars - are they free in the used car showroom or do they just appear in your garage?
@TJ81 You still have to use in game currency to buy them like you would any other car in the game. In this instance when they say free they mean it's not part of a DLC pack that you have to buy.
@AldusRavencorn Ah that makes sense. Thank you for explaining!
I bet they had to optimize the game like crazy to get it running rock solid in VR and, as a side effect, this work unlocked 120 fps in pancake. Now, it probably fluctuates between 60 and 120 and thus VRR becomes paramount.
I remember a similar thing happening with Ace Combat 7, where the PS4 Pro version ran better than the Xbox One X's. Probably also because the PS4 version required further optimizations for the VR missions.
Getting back to GT7, this is by far my favorite game on the PS5. Polyphony are just masters of their craft.
@Titntin btw, I never asked how your gt7 vr experiment went?
@NEStalgia Was supposed to happen last weekend, but my friend ended up being not available. Maybe this weekend. Ill let you know how it goes!
Does anyone know what resolution it operates on frame rate & resolution mode with 120hz set to on.
I had a quick drive, not really noticing the difference to 60 (yes, I have 120hz tv and VRR, and do notice it on other 120Hz titles and have setting correctly).
