We’ve known for almost a year that WayForward’s legendary GBC sidescroller Shantae is poised to make its PlayStation debut, but now it looks like it’s finally close. Trophies for the belly dancing platformer have started to populate Sony’s servers, and that’s usually a sign that a title is on the home straight to release.
Physical copies have been available to pre-order from Limited Run Games for a little while, although its website still doesn’t have a concrete release date. There’s no Platinum Trophy included here either by the way: just 13 fairly straight-forward trinkets, which you’ll largely unlock by playing the classic 8-bit adventure through to completion.

This is likely a work of Modern Vintage Gamer MVG.
I can't count how many times I've played this over the years. Easily my favorite GBC title. I was stoked when LRG reprinted it physically for the original console.

Boo! Would have given me an excuse to repurchase on PS4.
As much as I love Shantae I'd rather buy digital than give LRG any of my money. Shantae was the only game I was considering getting from them and I'm so glad I didn't.
Hell yeah! I love the Shantae games! It’s great that the game that first starred our favourite half-genie hero is coming to more platforms!
Apparently some of the LRG delays have been due to card printing companies being bought out by the Pokemon company, so lrg will drop the cards.
Hopefully will mean games come sooner.
Not a big deal to me as I don't go out of my way often to get a Platinum, but it is weird that 3 of the Shantae games have a Platinum and now 2 of them don't (Risky's Revenge is the other).
I look forward to this finally getting released. I own the 4 other ones on PS5, but I have been waiting to play them until the original dropped. I know it doesn't matter, but I still wanted to play them in order regardless.
