Bandai Namco has confirmed that the next Sword Art Online game, Sword Art Online: Last Recollection, will launch for PS5 and PS4 on the 6th October. Much like the property's previous games, Last Recollection won't follow the source material directly. Instead, it'll tell an alternate story with some new characters thrown in.
If you want to relive some of Sword Art Online's key events up until this point — the property's celebrating its 10th anniversary this year — be sure to give the accompanying trailer a watch. It covers both the anime and the games, before slapping a date of Last Recollection at the end.
We're yet to see any real gameplay from this next RPG, but now that we know when it's dropping, we would imagine that footage won't be far off.

@BeerIsAwesome If you die in the game you die for real in the game's anime but dying in the game doesn't mean you die in the game that we call life. As far as we know.
@ShogunRok Now THAT is a true Swords Art Online fan answer!
Nice.
Here's hoping they make their first game with graphics better than a PS3 game.
Gameplay's solid, but those graphics have been rough every single time.
Video isn't working for me. (Already seen it though!) Also just a FYI for people: There are gameplay clips of the game already. It's basically the same from the previous game for now at least.
I've bought all of the SAO games across PC, PS4 and Switch. And been enjoying them, even if they aren't anything incredible. So probably getting this as well. Also have ReoNa doing the opening song (again) is such a fantastic call, she is so incredible. And it's gonna help drag people in.
They must means 10th anniversary of the anime, the stories were written in the 2000s right after .hack started.
@burning_as_souls Sadly still the same meh graphics. I yearn for a hyper realistic SAO game before I die.
